5 months late but playing on German or Spanish PS3 versions of the game allows this to happen. No definitive answer has been made, we just know how to make it work every time and what negates it. Imo, its probably a flag transfer between Veldin and Florana since the autosave feature doesnt properly function on PS3, as well as the fact that you dont go into your ship in Veldin. In short, ypu complete missions on Veldin and it thinks that for Florana as well.

Joao_f (www.youtube.com/@joao_f ) proved the trick was possible with a tas, and Pentali (www.youtube.com/@ps3archive159 ) found the variation that we do in RTA runs, and was the first person to do it RTA

You can do it by mashing r1 with the charge boots, it's kinda inconsistent though
