I admire the "channel relevant" T-shirt in every video 😀

History lessons were the best part, even though I never would have subscribed if it weren't for the games.

I've been close to getting this, but something about the game mechanics bothers me. Great theme. Really enjoyed the historical information.

Thanks Liz for the video. The Fox Experiment appears to be an interesting and fun game. I can see after a couple games (and therefore, 5 rounds per game), the game, even with all its intricacies, would become easier. Personally, I would get stuck with the names! 😅. Like others have noted, very much appreciate you giving the background & history! And with all your video play throughs, appreciate you providing color on “why” you chose this or that. Also, like that you point out what possibly could have happened (e.g.,the AI when they could have gone beyond the max on the card).
PS - Your video is very timely, as I am planning to attend PAX Unplugged (Philly) in a month, where Elizabeth Hargrove is the guest speaker!

The names are definitely a hold up at times! I was going mostly with book characters during the video. 😁
I'm so glad you enjoyed the history! It was fun to do the research for the video; I knew some of it from reading "How to Tame a Fox", but learned so much more. Thank you for your comments about what you find useful - it's quite helpful and much appreciated!
That's exciting that you will get to see Elizabeth Hargrave speak! I love that she uses biology as a basis for her games, and would love to hear her talk about her inspiration. I hope you have a great time at PAX!

This game might go on my Christmas list this year. And I'm pretty sure my SO would absolutely love that book.
Edit: it did go on the list and I got it :)

I'm looking forward to watching the play through part when I have a little time - I played one game with a friend and it was fun, but I didn't feel like I understood how to use the patrons so we didn't do much with them. (I'm not a very experienced gamer, have played mostly Wingspan and Isle of Cats.)
I did hear or read Elizabeth Hargrave say that she designs games by choosing themes that she wants to explore and then figures out what mechanisms would work best for them. And tries to balance accuracy with making something that is accessible for mid weight gaming, and not focused on negative interactions.
I just found your channel so I am looking forward to exploring it more! I have a few science or nature themed games (Evolution, Genotype, Atiwa) that I want to try.

Wingspan and Isle of Cats are both fantastic games! For the patrons in The Fox Experiment, I think the key is to approach them like a puzzle bonus for your player board. 🙂
I hope you have fun exploring the channel! I have playthroughs for both Genotype and Atiwa. It's been a while since I played Evolution - it's a great game, I enjoy playing it, but it can sometimes be a little punishing.
