I think there are 3 in the works right now.
Edit: there are 5 companies building new foundries in the US. GlobalFoundries, Intel, Samsung Foundry, TSMC, and Texas Instruments.
GlobalFoundries was originally part AMD in the US, but was sold to UAE and is now publicly traded, but based in NY and UAE I think is primary owner. Samsung Foundries is of course Korean, TSMC is Taiwanese, Texas Instruments and Intel are both US companies.
Also give asylum to the Taiwanese people. ❤️
@tompeng8248 That uses European machines in the first place
Us and allies stood up for ukraine?😂
and then sit down very fast
lol
Once a trouble maker ...forever a trouble maker... and I'm not referring to either China or the province of China (Taiwan).
But you have described China very well. Trouble maker and thief of foreign technology.
What happened to the one China agreements same as the neutral Ukraine, America has charted an insane path to it's own economic demise.
exactly and the media says nothing about the facts of history. They lie because they love war. Taiwan flourished under the One China policy. Now the US wants to break it.
Chips are supposed to be Made in America, NOT Taiwan
Nothing is suppose to be made in America, all economic activity on stolen land is theft
saying it is easier than making it! Keep playing Basket ball and base balls, so that they can all graduate from the universities!
I don't understand it. why can't the United States open up a factory tomorrow building its own superconductors? like what is so special about them that only Taiwan can make these microchip conductors?
Semi-conductors not superconductors. The short answer is yes only Taiwan has the technology. The long answer is that back in 2017 or so Intel was trying to progress from 14nm to 10nm and try as it might it failed and fell behind TSMC by about 6 years. To day Intel has bought the most advanced machines high NA EUV lithography machines. Intel has had the machine for a few months. But Intel's most advanced chips are stil made by TSMC. In short there technology in makeing the EUV machines but there's also a lot of technology in how to use them. The "how to use them" technology currently only exists in Taiwan.
brainpower and hard work - that's why
@@mgronich948It takes 1 year for TSMC to properly tune ASML’s NÀ EUV machines. Intel will take at least 2 years to do the same work!
Easier said than Done!
I think China never worries if US and allies only plan to defend Taiwan as they are doing now to Ukraine. What China will take into serious consideration is whether US and allies will have a direct and large scale involvement. However, that is something US and allies are tyring to avoid in Ukraine now.
lol ukraine is nothing compared to taiwan
@@lloydz8828 Are you under some kind of impression you can fight a hot war with China over Taiwan without TSMC turning to rubble?
Yes Taiwan makes most of the mobile phone chips, seen the factory's very impressive.

Crippled the Chinese Economy...
USA and EU had already put limits on Chinese imports via tariffs. I heard a short list of South American countries that are looking at it now, including Brazil.
China is finished. It's economy is on life support.

@jacksmith-mu3ee jealous of what? That you can't own property? That when you "buy" a rental that it will collapse before you have to give it back. Good thing Biden passed that chips act.
If China takes TSMC... You guys think China will stop selling you products??? 😅😅😅😅

Finally. Our 1 China policy but backing Taiwan economically and militarily is not much of a show of our commitment to Taiwan. Recognize it as a sovereign state , then talk. Have the impotent UN recognize it !! You want a even more powerful statement to mainland China , do it. If we cant do that , all we do is sabre rattle , and whena full blown war starts the USA will look pretty stupid helping defend an entity we don't recognize as a nation.
