The Lost V3 Stealth is such a fun board! I liked it in 2-6 surf and the Carbon Wrap technology gave this board the extra speed in the smaller surf.
The V3 Stealth is an off spring of the V3 Rocket. This board has the appearance of a standard short board with a pulled in nose and extra nose and tail rocker for tight pocket surfing.
One thing I really liked is the speed the V3 Stealth had in smaller mushy surf.. The board design has all kinds of great features to give it drive and quickness in an out of turns. One of my favorite features is the tail.... it has 2 Fluted Wings to make the board ultra responsive, and a exaggerated Diamond tail design that Lost calls a Rocket tail. If these two things were not enough they also equipped the board with 4 channels that are unique in themselves.
I hope this review inspires you to get out and try a V3 Stealth. One of my favorite boards for 2017 for sure!!!
Had a V3 loved it - Based on this review got another one & played with the Dims a little & went with allot smaller & with the channels, WOW ! Board performance is off the charts - This guys reviews are on point ! It doesn't hurt that he rips & makes the board look good !
Just picked up a 6'2" in stock dims @36.5 liters, I'm 205lbs 6'2", and this is the lowest volume board i've ever ridden... I'm so pumped for how well it surfs. I usually love thrusters and have preferred using the reactor fins on my past boards, but I'm really enjoying this board with a Performer quad setup + knubster. I would buy this board over and over again.
Keep up the good work, love to watch your videos.
Your surfing and your reviews are 100!
Jake S So stoked to hear you love this board!!! Good job on going down a little on Volume and your getting more performance in your surfing. Cheers on the show too!!!
You were shredding that board!
Hey Noel, I got the V3 Stealth PU this weekend and tried it for the 1st time, its an amazing board, so responsive and fast. I used TechFlex large Thruster set up and could catch any wave I tired, thanks for the review, it helped a lot with my decision.
wow thats one of the best boards you have surfed in your reviews. you looked really calm and carefree yet dynamic as well. Looked very predictable, loose and super drivey all in one.
I've had all the V series, from V2 to V3, and V3 round. I surf them all over Indo and for Hybrid boards, they work perfectly well in all types of waves. From knee high, to double overhead which gets tricky to drop in. I'm definitely going to get one because I do want hi performance in the V series. The V3 Stealth would be a perfect one board quiver to travel around with in Indo. I'm weary about stringerless foam because the waves are powerful in Indo, and I've buckled boards doing duck dives with stringerless boards.... but I think that has to do more with Indo board construction. Thanks Noel for the excellent review.
Noe Bagtas Epic thanks for posting. I love the range of wave size. Stoked you like the review too. Let me know how the V3 Stealth goes for you when you get one. Cheers!!!
Keen to know how you would compare the v3 vs the v3 stealth now.... Im looking at these two boards, but cant make up my mind on which one to buy.....mmmmm?
Bought this board after watching your review 👍🤙
I started surfing last year so still learning the trade. I surf mostly hybrids so wanted something that I could take into more vertical waves to improve my game
Great board, and love the carbon wrap
Finally! The board fits your style so well Noel! Great review as always. Keep it up!
Liam Rodriguez Stoked you like the review... cheers!
The new review style is super polished. Loving your work. The new boards are so sick, legit indeed!
Yeeew!!!
The tail and those channels are interesting! Carbon wrap looks outstanding too (with a side order of X-glass)
Thanks for the review!
killtheapostrophe YEW!!!
Would love to see you do a review on the Firewire SKX. Would be cool to see how it compares to this board. I just got a custom 5'8" SKX and it's the best board I have ever surfed. I couldn't believe what I was able to do in tiny waves. Haven't even got it in good surf yet, but I bet it's going to be amazing. So many good boards out there now. Rock on brother!
Gilbert Rocks Sick... so stoked you like the SKX. I would love to review the FireWire boards but they are not down for sending boards in for review at this time. Hopefully soon... cheers!
Oh man, that's too bad. Would love to see you on a few and get your thoughts. Great show and channel man. Keep up the great work. You are ripping in the vids too. So nice to see someone surf without launching an air every single time. lol.
Epic thanks for the props on the show!! I wish I could do a few more airs every now and then. Ha!!!
Nahhh, your surfing looks great dude. We need more of it. Pretty nice to have Lowers in your backyard though. I'm in Carlsbad, so I'm pretty lucky with waves too. We need some waves now. lol.
Surfing Lowers everyday is a treat for sure!!! I come down and surf Ponto every once in a while. We have some waves starting tomorrow... can't wait. Cheers!!!
that's your board! Suits your style and your wave well. I get to try one next week. I always worry about channels in anything other then clean glass. I am really digging the new Filpe Fins too. My go to fins are the AM's and JS's. The FT's are a good one for me. I could easily just use them in everything. Can't wait for the Hayden reviews....
bushkey Let me know how the V3 Stealth goes for you next week!!!
Hey mate, wondering if you sticked to Filipe fins or went back to AM's template since you posted this comment?
@@miguelgalllego I sold my FT’s and I mainly use JS and AM’s. FT’s are good but for me I much prefer the AM’s. Am’s are a must in your fin quiver.
@@bushkey Ok, staying with my AM's then, you're right, things just go on everything u throw them on. A must have. Thanks a lot👍🏼
Hey ive got one of these v3 stealths in 5ft5 and with the 5ft4 dims it actually works real well in the smaller surf as long as its got a bit of power behind. it this may be becuase mine does not have the channels but I would recommend this board.
Joshua Cairns Sick thanks for commenting. I have two buddies that got the V3 Stealth without the channels and they love theirs too. Cheers!!!
Yeeeewww thanks for the review.. Picked one up... took me a couple session for me to get used to it, but loving it... taking it to Fiji next month!!!!
Did you ever ride as a quad? Any fin recommendations?
Have you ever tried a Mark Richard set up with stabiliser on those kind of shortboard/ hybrid ? I heard some guys saying the Rocket v3 went so well with it.
Mathieu Revel I have not tried that set up on this board. I have tried it on others and it goes good in some and not so good on others.
Hey Noel, I watched your review on the rocket 9. I loved the Rocker 9 with the two plus one set up and how you liked the 2 + 1 set up (Merrick Template) better than the thruster? I bought the rocker 9 on sale @ RC here in San Clemente. I loved the rocker 9 with the two plus set up except not with the merricks. Brian @ RC let me borrow some of his personal fins and I stuck them on the rocket( they were the ones with the Hawaiian on the fins). I loved it I would step on the tail and the thing would react quickly, my turns were snappy and may flow was good. When it was time to return them, I told him that I didn't want to give them back to him. He hooked me up with a pair of Merricks and I left back down to San Diego. When I came home I stopped on Law street to meet up with the fellas and there was a swell. It was breaking around head high at tormos so i paddled out with the Merricks thinking good thoughts. I dropped in on some good ones but I feel the uprightness or rake of the fin plus the area gave me too much friction. I would drop in and spring up right away which I liked but I couldn't connect my turns the way I would on a traditional thruster set up. I also felt that I was responsible for generating too much of my speed on a wave that had plenty of push for me to perform those long and drawn out turns that I was doing on the Hawaiian fins the only difference was there was way more release to spring me back into my turns. So I decided that today I would hit Uppers up with the new Pod Mod by torque. It was great, I was flying due to the low rocket but it felt like I was surfing a 12 foot longboard? I just put in the Andos on the rocket as a thruster set up to see how it rides. I don't know whether it's a mix of the board's construction material, volume or what, but I was not happy with the merricks. I traded with Brian for the original set up so hopefully that puts me back on track. I'm headed to Huntington for Tomorrow's swell hopefully it will be better than Tressies.
Miguel Marquina Sounds like you on the hunt for the right combo for you and those boards. I love to hear the success and struggles of you fin choices. Welcome to my world!!!! It's all about experimenting with fins in certain boards. I love it!!! Cheers
Hii i gat the same v3 carbon withote the cannls wath is the difranbs?
Sick backside snap at the end with tail drift! Way to fire that thing down the line with warp speed and then blast it rail to rail in the pocket!
Hi Noel! I noticed that you didn't try many snaps with the V3 Stealth, especially comparing to the OG Flyer or even the Holy Grail, after watching the review I can see that you were doing more wide arcs and roundhouses. Is this because the board doesn't like to do quick backside snaps or just because the waves didn't have steep little pockets to snap? Thanks heaps!
It almost looks that you were struggling to get the board really vertical! Thanks
Gabriel Sales It’s usually the waves.. this board will go vertical no problem
Hey Noel I usually use Future but I bought a second hand Sharpeye #77 with FCS because the board felt so good under my arm. It is a few liters less than what I ride. I tried the board with K fins and the board caught waves unexpectedly really well which made me start thinking about the single concave. How would you compare the MC Fanning fin to the Filip Toledo fin? Thanks and great job!
The MF fins offer more hold off the bottom and through carves due to the wider tip, more fin area, and the MF’s have a bit more rake too. I think the MF fins are best in HPSB’s and i like best in overhead waves.
Have one, same dims. Does really well all conditions.
Jlevorin Epic!!! Thanks for posting. I agree too.
Have you tried quads? Tempted on doing so...
Jlevorin I did try the Performer Quads and it was a bit to stiff for me. I need to get the Reactor Quads and try it again. I like a little more upright Fin in Quads for smaller waves.
Surf n Show Reviews I dont have any quad rears, so cant try it for now... But im loking foward to it
Jlevorin Let me know how it goes after you try it. Cheers
That board looks nice, Inspired me to try that tail shape on my 4# as it looks similar with the wider tail and two flyers to help it turn a bit tighter like that one. Would be good to try that board in poly and also be cool if you can show us the difference in rake and fin area by putting those fins on top of the am2's and mick's fins so we can really see the difference in them.
The back fin in Filipe fins is also bit smaller isn't it?
Looked like you could cruise a bit more riding that board but still crank it hard when needed. :)
Ta
Troy, I will try to remember to show the fins close up against the Mick's or AM2's next time. My Toledo fins have all 3 fins the same size but I am thinking of taking the center fin from the set of Medium Toledo's that I have and see how that goes. Cheers!!!
Love your videos. Any plans on doing a review of the Channel Islands Hoglet? I have my eye on one at my local shop. Thanks and keep the great content coming.
Michael Sheridan Stoked you like the show. Sorry the Hoglet is not on the radar right now. I have a bunch of boards on the review list right now. Sorry
Great review as always Noel, if you were getting one of these for a trip to indo, would you still go carbon wrap or play safe with pu? If you were using it for waves in the 3-5 ft range .
Mark Daniel If I were buying this board for Indo only in the 3-5 range then I would go PU..... however if I am going to keep this board in my quiver and use it here at home after my Indo trip then I would go Carbon Wrap. It will still go mental in CW for Indo in 3-5 surf.... so I think your good on going with the CW.
Dunno how you are 170 lbs and ride 26 L boards. I’m 175 and ride 35 plus L. This board looks fun but I might be too heavy for it
Hi Noel
really appreciate all these great reviews you do. we don't get a lot of boards in the shops to check out up here, so your reviews are invaluable when picking a new one.
I'm wondering if you know the difference in weight between a performance pu glass job and a standard one on a board in roughly your dimensions?
thanks from Vancouver Island
Sam Norrad A Light weight PU/Poly in my dims is roughly 5 pounds. A stock glass job on a PU/Poly can vary from 5.5-5.8 pounds. Doesn’t sound like much weight on the heavier PU but adding 1/2 pound is a lot and a heavy board will be harder to turn quickly and it’s flex is stiffer. All though the heavier glass job will last a little longer the lack in performance is obvious to me. Not a fan of stock glass jobs.... to heavy and they feel dead underfoot compared to a light glass job.
I've definitely had a few stiffer, heavy boards in the past... no fun
maybe it was the glass jobs
well... if i do go with a lighter glass job I'd probably get better at ding repair too lolz
thanks again
yo Noel a quick comparative between V3 steal and sci-fi ? any comment will be appreciated
cheers love the reviews
L Ricardo Sorry no comparison for me because I have not tried the SciFi. Both boards fit the same wave size description. Sorry
Hey Noel, nice review brother. I'm a little late to your review but I had a v3 Stealth Carbon wrap 6'0 stock dims years ago. Loved the board, super responsive and snappy. Felt good if the wave had some punch..definitely felt like a good wave board. The 6'0 felt a little chunky with the stock dims. I'm going to order another custom and I'm wondering how small I should go? I was thinking the stock 5'10 or 5'11. I'm 5'10 175-180 lbs experienced surfer. I usually ride shorter chunkier boards (think hypto) and am just worried of going to low on volume here. Blessings
I suggest 29-31L for Pro/Expert level surfers, 31-33L Advanced, 34-36L Intermediate. Not sure on your skill level but these volume ranges are for your weight at 180 lb.
Did you get Howd it go?
Noel great review. It is hard to judge if the boards you ride are good since you are such a good surfer that you make all the boards look fun. I just got the Midas by Machado and it is a really fun board. I surfed it in Austin this week and worked pretty good on the wave. I think you would like it. Keep up the great reviews. I am also getting a Gamma soon and that seems like a perfect board for you and Trestles waves. Will you be reviewing the Slater Gamma?
Thanks for the compliments on the show!!! I would like to review the FireWire boards but they are not down for working with us at the moment. I think their boards look good and the Slater Gamma is right up my alley. On another note... most of my friends are intermediate surfers and they often buy the same boards that I review after they see me surf on them and they really like them too. I am here to help you guys pick the right boards.Cheers!!!
Hey Noel, I'm debating between two boards the Channel Islands rocket 9 or the v3 Stealth. I'm looking for a board that gives me more speed and that I can do turns and more tricks on. I surf in the OC area so 1-6 foot surf, which board would you recommend?
Both boards are sick but I like the V3 Stealth better for what you want to do.
Hey Noel! Thanks for everything you do.No joke my friend has a phantom and a gremlin because of me turning him on to your reviews, and his surfing is at an all time high. I just made my first purchase since I started watching your vids, a lost V3 stealth in the epoxy/carbon whatever construction. I love it! I got to surf it this past weekend with the merrick template FCS2 performance core fins. In a board like this, would you recommend different fins? Just wondering what your take is. The board goes great, but I'm always looking to improve my odds of ripping. I've heard the more rocker a board had, the more rake you want on your fin? Is this true? If so, i feel like this board and fin may be mismatched as the stealth is more of a hybrid.
S Murray Yes that can be true... but not always. I say try a neutral fin like the Jack Freestone in Futures or the Performers in FCSII
Surf n Show Reviews thanks for the reply!
Hey Noel,
Great review. I'm tossing up between the v3 stealth and the voodoo child both in carbon wrap any help.
V3 Stealth.... one of my favorites!!!
always a pleasure to see your review. Can you do the Monsta 6 - HYFI - JS indudtry ?
thanks ! Noel you are the boss.
consultantfin.boudraa boudraa That board looks mental too. It's on my radar for sure. Maybe this winter.
Great, can't wait to see that review; wanna know if it's better than the famous, Monsta 3 ...or just a hype
Lost sub driver next? You could compare the pro to the bro dims...
Liam Rodriguez That sounds epic.... I might be doing the Lost Driver. Stay tuned....
Great review Noel, I love your show! Quick question this board kinda looks a bit like the Sci-Fi just wondering if there is much of a difference between the two how they surf and performance wise?
martinwajda The tail on the Sci Fi is way different. Not sure about the bottom contours... I have not ridden a Sci Fi yet. Sorry
Hi Noel, great review as usual. I'm a big fan of your work.
I´m on the way to by a CI Sampler for summer small waves here in Portugal because of it's paddle power and speed.
Anyway I always been curious about the V3 Stealth by Lost since it as been release.
From your personal experience, how would you compare the two boards?.. Is the V3 Stealth as good paddler and carries speed as the Sampler?!
Best Regards!
João Pinto Stoked you like the review. I think the Sampler is a sick Groveler 1-3+ and paddles very well. The V3 Stealth is good in 2-6 surf. I think if your after a Groveler then your headed in the right direction with the Sampler.
How's the floating of the eps carbon wrap? Same as pu or more? Thanks
Roughly 0.5L more overall float. So if the volume is 26 the it floats like 26.5L in EPS
@@surfnshowreviews7777 thanks a lot Noel! I had 4 Stealth already and i love it so i was thinking about getting the next one in CW.
Can i just ask you which of these 4 boards you would prefere like all around/average conditions? Lost Stealth, Lost Uber Driver, Firewire Dominator 2 or JS Blak Box 3? I live in Costa Rica and pretty much surf 2 to 5/6 foot waves mostly beach breaks. Thank you so much
Thanks for another awesome review. Have you tried the Lost V2 Rocket? I'm trying to find a board similar to the V2.
Don Sales Stoked you like the review! I am sorry to say that I have not tried it but I heard it's good.
hey noel long time viewer, i think it would be helpful if you added in the video , your personal feelings of riding the boards, i feel like i can get the (this board has a deep concave) anywhere. Where as you are actually a great surfer id like to know more about how the board feels for you
I try to convey that but I will try to give a little more detail on this moving forward. Thank you for the feedback.
sup Noel Salas - Maybe you should link a spreadsheet that had like the dimensions and L of ever board you have reviewed, and some notes on the board - like, should of gone 1L more, or something.
Sounds like a cool idea... thanks.
Would you guys ever consider doing a review on the ...lost baby buggy? Or have you already done one
I have considered it and it might happen in the future. The next Lost board coming out is the Puddle Fish and the next performance board review from Lost is still in the works. Stay Tuned for those two reviews coming soon!! Cheers!
Hi Noel. This board looks amazing. How would you compare it to a Slater designs sci to model? Thanks
This board is amazing... I cannot compare it to the Slater Sci-Fi Design because I have not ridden one yet. This V3 Stealth is so sick and it felt good in 2-6 foot surf. One of my top picks for 2017 for sure!!! You have to try one! Cheers!!!
That board looks amazing under you feet !
I have fever ( tnx to your review ) for solid waves
I have small twin fin ( by graham smith )
I am looking for something in the middle ..
What would you go for ? Uber driver or v3 stealth ? They have it at the local shop both 24 volume carbon wrap .
I surf mostly 2-4 foot beach breaks
Tnx !🙏🏽
DJ Pipe Official UBer Driver
Ok . I had to ask you , because I did a compare at your website and looks like both boards have similar pros .can u tell me why u think the Uber will be better for me ? I can’t ignore your enthusiasm from that v3 stealth !
DJ Pipe Official You have to remember the V3 Stealth was well before the UD review. I actually like the UD XL better than them both. Fast, good paddler, easy to surf.
Surf n Show Reviews got it ! Thanks a lot for your answer
Hi there Noel! Could you compare The Lost Drive and Whiplash? I'm debating between the two models and I can't find any Info on the differences. Supossably they're both really good boards buts there's just so little information about the two. So it would be really cool if you could try them out! keep on ripping you got a really cool channel! one of the best!
Montana Weatherby Stoked you like the channel!!! I am fixing to get my hands on the Lost Driver but the Whiplash is not on my radar at the moment but the Driver is coming up soon. Hang in there.
THAT'S RAD! I can't wait to hear what you got to say! I wonder if there would be a difference in performance between trestles and creek ?
Hi Noel, thanks for the great reviews. I've narrowed my search for a new surfboard down to three boards that you have reviewed. I'm looking for a daily driver to use in 1 to 6 feet (East coast Australia - so say knee high to 1.5 times overhead). I weigh 190lb. Which would you choose: Monsta Box, V3 Stealth or OG Flyer?
John F I would go V3 Stealth or Haydenshapes Holy Grail. All of the boards you picked are epic though. For me I would choose the Holy Grail after testing them all.
Surf n Show Reviews Thanks mate! I appreciate your help.
Hi. Great review. I have a lost mini driver for good waves and I am looking for a second board for my quiver. Is this board a good choice for a 2 boards quiver? The idea is that this one will handle from 1 to 4 feet everyday conditions. Have you tried the Sci Fi, do you consider it a good option, it seems to share some features with the v3. Thanks in advance
Miguel Lima The V3 Stealth is epic for waves in 2-6+ not sure it will have the speed in 1-2’ surf compared to a hybrid type board like the Puddle Fish. The Sci Fi looks sick but I have not tried it yet.... I would say from the looks of it it would go good in 2-6+ surf too because of the rocker compared to the Go Fish.
Ok, can't wait to see you test the Sci - Fi :)
Hi Noel, if you were to chose between this and JS Nitro, which one would you buy for southern California, 2-4 ft waves? Thanks
Ardy Aryan I would go Lost V3 Stealth Carbon Wrap for sure. This board is more versatile and goes good in 2-6+ surf. The JS Nitro is a true Groveler for 1-3 surf.
thanks so much Noel!
Please do a Helium tech from firewire review! :D
Alexandre Terra Sounds good to me but Firewire is not down with our show at this time. Hopefully soon.
Hi, I'm doubting between buying the Lost Stealth V3 or Allmerrick's Sample.
Could you please recommend me one of those to clear up my doubts?
Greetings from Canary Islands, good surfing.
Jairo Gómez Rodríguez Two Epic Boards!!! The V3 Stealth is more versatile compared to the Sampler. The V3 Stealth goes good in 2-6 surf and the Sampler goes good in 1-3+. Hope that helps! Cheers
Surf n Show Reviews Thanks a lot for answering! You're opinion helps a lot. Greetings.
just wondering if the board works well with a quad setup?
dukeflyingcow Yes, I liked it as a Quad too.
Thank you for the great review! This is the reason I bought this board and the Filipe Toledo fins last year, and they work great, just as you described them. Can you please elaborate on how different the big FT fins feel compared to the medium size, as I got the latter. By the way, I weight 160lb and surf mostly on 2-6ft beach breaks with some 8ft days. Additionally, on the bigger days the board vibrates/trepidates, and it impacts my confidence on pushing harder on those days - should I get another board for those days or can I get a better feel with different fins (or just size)? I still like the board on those 8ft days..., but want it to not vibrate so much.
Because of your review on the Holy Grail, my mind is set on the HG for the next board and I wonder how the FT fins (medium and big) would feel on it. Can you please shed some light on this?
Finally, are the Tomo boards (especially the Evo and Vader) on your radar? I am curious on how they perform compared to the V3 Stealth and the Holy Grail.
You are the one doing the best job on surfboards reviews, please keep it up. Cheers!
I saw your other video about fins and it answers the question. I also realize the board does not vibrate on those bigger days, it was poor foot placement on my part. After I corrected the board was great. On choppy days I feel the carbon wrap construction is very light, but I still like it better than PU.
Hello,
thanks for all the board tests .. but how to surf like Noel Salas aahaha
I have a question ?
I had a v3rocket in 6 .0 20 1/2 2 1/2 and this size was perfect for me.
what size do you recommend for the Stealth v3? I have 84 kg and 1m87 ..
thank you for your help and good job
noutsmaile Cheers and glad you like our show!! I would go with the same size as the V3 Rocket or as close to it as possible. I am talking Board DIMS and Liters.
great, thank you Noel ! sea you
Could you review the CI neckbeard!
KayneHunter The Neckbeard is not on the radar for a review but I did have one for a while. Fun board for small mushy waves. The tail is a bit wider then I like.... its fast down the line but i struggle with it in the pocket. Now the Sampler on the other hand is right up my alley for small waves. It's fast down the line and good in the pocket too.
Noel, if you could only have one board from lost would you keep the voodoo child or would you choose the v3 stealth? I'm torn between getting one of the two.
Thank you for your input
Brandon Lane Between these two Lost boards I would go V3 Stealth. Sick board!!!
Thank you so much my brother. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond. If you have a spare moment could you tell me the main reason or the top 2 reasons you'd go v3? Feel free to short answer the crap out of me. And if you don't have time, no worries about that either.
I hope you have an excellent day.
Brandon Lane the V3 Stealth really suits my style of surfing and I love the Carbon Wrap in waves 1-4’. The V3 can Grovel pretty good compared to the Voodoo Child and I am always surfing small waves. Both boards are good and you can’t go wrong with either. Cheers
Surf n Show Reviews
Rodger that. I totally understand.
Thank you again for not just replying to me but for taking the time to make such amazing reviews my brother. Stay awesome
How you liking the puddle fish?
Craig Steven I have not even waxed it yet. I have been focused on this V3 Rocket but the Puddle Fish is coming soon. Maybe like 3-4 weeks.... hang in there.
So how do u rate the carbon wrap construction?
On a scale of 1-10 I give it a 9. Super lively in small waves and it feels good on the two boards I tried. I highly recommend it!!!
Hey Noel, what would you say the difference between the flex bar and the carbon wrap would be. I have the flex bar sampler and the board is mental and I love it, would you say the carbon wrap is pretty close to the same feel of the flex bar?
I would say the Carbon Wrap has a faster flex response time in and out of turns. Both constructions are very lively and feel great to me.
+Surf n Show Reviews do the carbon wrap have that weird chattery and extra buoyancy feel to them?
William Eversolejbxxcgnbr There is some chatter when the waves get bigger or if it super windy. They are a bit more buoyant too but I am used to it now.
Hey Noel. Sick show. Do you think there would be much difference between having the channels and no channels?
Sam Hoi Cheers!!! I think the channels are going to give you more speed and traction then without.
Sam Hoi, the channels work great on smaller waves, helps to generate speed when it's gutless surf, but really holds on turns when its bigger. I have a baby buggy round with channels that I love for everyday all around board that excels on smaller days. Can't go wrong with Lost boards, been riding them for 8+ years.
Noe Bagtas Sick thanks for sharing... the Baby Buggy looks good and a round tail sounds sick!!! Do you get it in Carbon Wrap?
Surf n Show Reviews no, I got regular PU. I'll never get another PU again. Only had it 5 months and its beat down. How does the Carbon wrap feel under tour feet? Did you feel a difference in turns in comparison to a PU board with a stringer?
Noe, sorry to hear that your PU is not holding up. An EPS board is a bit more durable and lighter than your typical PU. The Carbon Wrap is so quick in and out of turns, and has incredible spring off the bottom and my top turns compared to a PU. For waves 5' and under Carbon Wrap or EPS all the way for me. Cheers!!!
Now you can do another review where you ride it as a quad. You're missing a whole other aspect of the boards potential and performance. I think if a board offers the quad option you should at least try it.
William Blaze I did try it with the Perfomer Quads and they had too much rake so the board was really stiff. I need the Reactors so the board will pivot better. I just ordered them and I will use them on some other reviews. Thanks for your comments. Cheers
I have three sets of rear quad fins I keep in my bag. Really small ones at 3.40, mediums at 3.75 and large ones just over 4.0. Just like your quiver of boards you need a quiver of fins to get you the right feel for the right day, especially with quads. I'll even do asymmetrical rear set-up if I'm only going one direction. Bigger on on my frontside, smaller one on my backside. Time to get your rear quads figured out and purchased so you know what ones to throw in and you can give us quad lovers some quad feedback. You could literally have 5 different rides out of that one board! Latz
Sounds good... I am not that savvy on quad set ups so maybe you can tell me when you like small quad rears, medium quads, and large, and why? I am always down for learning and I really don't ride a lot of quads. Thanks!
Wave size basically. Smalls for small waves, mediums for every day to larger waves, and large for bigger or super heavy/hollow waves. I used to ride 4 or 5 boards regularly based on wave size/condition, now I just change fins on one board for almost everything. Makes traveling unreal to have one board that can work in knee high to double over head simply by changing up fins. I rode thrusters for 20+ years, now I pretty much only ride quads. I find them much looser off the top, faster off the bottom and in the tube and they pull a much tighter turning radius... basically I just find them to work better in every board I own from short to gun.
Asymmetrical set-up is fun too and works to help heal side turning no matter if you are going frontside or backside.
You're missing out on a lot of a boards potential by not giving the quad set-up a real go... and by go I mean more than one session. Honestly you should take your favorite board with the quad option and ride it as a quad for the next year. I'd bet money you'd leave the thruster behind. At this point in my surfing the only time I could see riding a thruster would be for prefect tubes where I want to go slower and not out-run the tube... but everything else I go quad. Cheers
William Blaze Epic thanks for the great detail in your comment. I have been riding the Hayden Shape Untitled as a quad and it feels really good. I will take your advice and ride more Quads if the board has that option. Thanks again!!!
Hey Noel I have a question should I get the new gama by firewire or should I pick another board
The FireWire Gamma looks good but I really don't have an opinion on that board at this time. None of my friends have it either so sorry....I think the V3 Stealth is a sick board in the Carbon Wrap and you will really like it. Cheers!!!!
thanks Noel hope to see you at lowers sometime.
Ashton Bark If you do see me make sure you introduce yourself.
