This is what it is like to be a fan of 90% of the franchises in the league (mostly without the Steeler's continuous winning records). I am so glad that I read a biography of Bart Starr in Jr High School 50-some years ago and decided to be a Packer fan and not a Bear fan. But I still know how it feels. I was a fan in the 1970s and early 1980s. Since then, it's been a pretty good ride though.
@@paulpeterson4216imo being on the brink of a wildcard is the most stressful spot in the NFL. The Steelers have been in that spot for 3 years at this point, and I would argue that no other team barely wins games as much. (Last 3 seasons they've had negative point differentials)
Maybe it's cause you're listening to the wrong crowd. Let's be real, if anything short of a "perfect season" is considered a failure, you're going to be sorely disappointed. It's good to have expectations to benchmark how well (or badly) you progressed, but putting it this way: if you are expecting a toddler to immediately start running after the toddler has barely learned to crawl, I think it's a "you" problem. Support your team, cheer in the victories, lament (but not overdo it) in the losses, and learn from the experiences. That is the real fan experience, not one where you have to flex over 31 other fan bases cause your ego thinks just winning ain't good enough.
Try being a ravens fan when we had Joe Flacco. He made my blood pressure tweak like crazy week to week!

You set your expectations on win with _that_ QB & WRs? & again now with most of you *knowing* Russ is done, passing behind the line of scrimmage 23.7% of the time last years after losing the weight?
None of those were called plays. Those were *all* to RBs sent to stand there _because_ Russ needs this bail-out because he can't scramble to new viewpoints anymore when the one he's in is blocked. No scrambling = no seeing the field.
He tried his best & his best was being unable to See The Field.
Over 1 play in 5. "& he gon' teach Fields how to play QB" A guy who can't see the field is gonna teach. _while getting you to the playoffs._ With an OC who specializes in sending receivers to the middle of the field where Russ never looked _before_ he lost the ability to scramble.

Browns got Ken Dorsey. He fucked up so bad in Buffalo he made Josh Allen look only above average. Imagine what he'll do with Watson. It won't be good.
One of the guys I watch think that it is a great fit. Arthur Smith runs the ball well, the Steelers QB room is meh. Wilson's job will be to not turn the ball over and maybe make a few crazy plays. The defense will carry yall to a winning record while the offense slowly chugs.
I hope the end of the schedule exhausts yall and you lose the wildcard again, unless you beat the Chiefs by getting super lucky (injuries or God making miracles happen)

My guess is that either the Steelers struck out with the candidates they wanted (keep dreaming, Yinzertown, you're not prying Todd Monken off us after just 1 year), or anyone is better than Matt Canada at this point.

I just realized that the Steelers are basically the AFC Dallas Cowboys.
Think about it: (Almost) always does decent during the season, only to blow it all in the playoffs almost immediately. Often delusional fan base that thinks every year is their year (I say this as a Cowboys fan myself). Frequently plays like shit even with a team loaded with talent. Haven't won a playoff game (that mattered) in quite awhile.
Even have an iconic phrase that the fans say to root for their team that often gets mocked by pretty much everyone else... I'm sure I could think of more given time.

I want to say that I worked at a store on Sundays where we could only watch Steelers games most Sundays. It was utter torture. Those games were brutal to watch.

This is not to mention that they were outgained in all of their first nine games (and had a negative point differential) yet had a record of 6-3.
Don’t tell me that the only luck was Jacksonville choking. This team should have been nowhere near the playoffs.

I do have to admit, I loved the Steeler's draft. I would have wanted Frazier and McCormick on the Packers and Payton Wilson was one of the highest rated LBs in the draft if it wasn't for injury concerns... with the Steelers, I wouldn't be surprised if he is a Pro-bowl LB in 3 years. Add on the WR and the first round draft pick... it looks really good for the future of the team IMO.
