- Here's a very simple DIY Monopod that I made for the GoPro HD Hero Wide using some PVC piping, connectors, and the tilt mount that came along with my HD Hero Helmet. It functions as a standard monopod and can be adapted to record low angles as well. This took me less than 15 minutes and cost lest than $7
This is a helluva great idea. I'm going to use this method in my rc's. I'd rather break a pvc pipe at 99 cents per 6ft than replace a monopod! Thanks for sharing this diy!
it's actually quite stable depending how tightly the mount fits in the pvc pipe. If there is any play, you can add a little tape to stabilize it. Normally, all you'd get would be the standard case noise from the housing but the vibration is quite little. we've used the pole mount on everything from motorcycles to in-hand chase cams while snowboarding
Worked out great. I used an extendable painting pole. Looks awesome, thanks for the ideas
This is an awesome mount!! i used this as well as another mount i made to shoot most of my twins video for this piece. very very versatile, thanks for a great idea!! i used it for my twins video on here called "to be Young Again"
Rock on Pomona. Great concept. I'm trying to mount my GoPro on my Harley with a pole like this but haven't figured out how to make it resistant to wind shakes. Thanks for a couple of ideas though.
Genius, dude. Genius. I have to try this.
sweeeeet! thanks for the idea bro! simple yet brilliant!
I'm going to make one.. Looks useable for diving, and its cheap too!
Oooh I made the same one or simelar for my flip minohd and I use it for snowboarding self filming with fisheye . Videos came out awesome
fantasic idea, i'm going to make one, thanks for the tip
If you use a 3/4" PVC schedule 40 (common) it fits just right, but w/ 3/4" PVC schedule 80 (less common) it won't fit. I made a version of this. Use gray 1/2" PVC electrical conduit (not white) with bell end connector. Cut pipe to size (I used 30") and make the hole through the bell end to attach the camera. This fits very well, but instead of using #10-32 x 1.25" screw, use #10-32 x 1.5" screw with a wingnut so you can easily adjust it on the slopes. Bike grip fits over the 1/2" gray PVC end.
love the test!!
dude that is bad ass...ya ive been looking around for that extendable 4' pole...or the smaller version...backorder, out of stock! thats crap!
i want to get those W I D E angle shoots when im riding my ATV...so im gonna use your idea!! looks awesome! thanks!!!
Love it. Thank you!
great video
damn. I just got monopod from ebay. If I did see this idea right away. I could save some money. Damnnnnn!
Excellent! Liked the dual use for the "low angle".
Though next time - less shopping list and more/varied actual sample footage please :)
sweet! thx
pretty cool mod :)
Thanks for sharing
hahaha its funny how you drive a merc but you diy-ed a pole mount :P awesome though.. def gonna give it a shot
Sponge leash! Drill two holes mildly close to each other towards the bottom and put a key ring though it. Attach the leash to the ring and you're good to go.
Thanxxxx
I would recommend using locknuts
Alright thanks so much.
LOL at dropping $30K on a Benz but not $30 on a monopod.
but good thing you didn't because this is an awesome DIY, thanks.
I made a more simple version of this for my gopro and it works great.
yo, awesome video, literally just found this and made one yesterday but question...mine shakes at the top because of excess room where its connected, did yours do that? any solutions for that? I followed all your steps and got all the right pieces, just need something to stop the shaking and I'm trying to avoid wrapping it in duct tape. hah
i used a lecross stick cuz its super light weight :)
*camera flies off* hahahaha
or two nuts stacked, works as well
@thedknuckles lol I meant rc videos! hahaha...
Hey quick question, does the camera vibrate or anything. Do you get real smooth audio?
What exactly did you order adapter wise? I need something study enough to go under water while I am fishing...
does this allow you to move the camera in different angles or is it fixed?
What software did you use to edit your mono pod tutorial?
take care
sweet, thanks diy. minimal parts for minimal movement/shaking.
sorry, not quite sure if it floats with the camera. worth a quick try in the bath tub if anyone wants to give it a go though.

Do jaja - Fuck yeah!!!!!
,,Troll deg!’’
@akiraazn15 tell you the truth, i was looking at them painters poles...after looking/watching your video, wouldnt you think to just cut off that screw and cap and just do the same thing you did on your pole...i JUST thought of that right now...dam...i might just have to go get that next payday :p
It may be an easy solution, but give me pvc anyday!
why did the tape say portable. What tape is not portable
This is a perfect example of how making your own GoPro mounts can help you save some money to get a Mercedes. LOL....
@ScrizzDubb It would be nice if a Benz was only $30k!
$7 for a collapsible monopod + $7 for a mount adapter from EBAY............Easier, sturdier, faster, better :)
People get shot in Pomona
