  • Deep powder skiing on Niseko Hanazono's East Face (Gate 4).
With the Niseko Peak Gate 3 closed for the day, Gate 4 made for some epic lines for those who were happy to make the 15-minute traverse out along the East Face.
March of the 2023-2024 season saw some big storms bringing in plenty of fresh powder. With less crowds around than peak season, it made for some excellent skiing out in the resort-accessed backcountry.
Normally the weather isn't this good, so ripping such a long line is difficult during peak season due to poor visibility. However, this day in the middle of March, we were blessed and reasonably high cloud cover, making this line possible.

Ever wondered what skiing in Japan is like over an entire winter season?
Follow my journey as an Australian moving overseas to ski in Japan at the world-famous powder snow capital, Niseko United. This ski trip would be my second full season in a row and my previous experience at this resort would lead me to finding the best and deepest powder that Niseko has to offer.
From daily antics to skiing the dry, blower powder Niseko is known for, this ski vlog series follows the entire winter of 2023-2024. I spent my time living close by to Niseko Hanazono ski resort, one of the best ski resorts in Japan. Watch my journey skiing in Niseko off piste, on groomers, in resort-accessed sidecountry and out in the backcountry of Hokkaido.
With previous Niseko, Japan ski trips and the entire winter season last year under my belt, this winter season was shaping up to be the best skiing of my entire life. Everything I had learned was going to be put to the test.
