Powder ski content from Niseko, Japan 🇯🇵
It Doesn't Get Better Than This! 🔥
Bottomless powder and blue skies in Niseko's Gate 11.
Good visibility, steep terrain and fresh powder for our first day skiing this zone.

Hot off the press having finished my AST 1 course, Gate 11 had just opened which is one of my favourite areas on the mountain to ski when there's fresh pow. The "Mizuno No Sawa" bowl has some of the steepest pitches on the entire mountain and loves to collect powder from heavy wind.
We woke up to over 20cm of fresh snow and partially blue skies with great visibility. We were extremely lucky as it wasn't busy at all in the morning, with some excellent runs through the area. It was easily some of the best...

It did come!
@@codebreaker0760 not much but it's honest work.
Ride Psychocandy board, perfect for those conditions. What is the other black board your mate is riding? Amazing skiing too!
Quinn is riding a Gentemstick in this video, which is a locally made board right here in Niseko. I believe the model is the 24-25 Stingray, but I'm not 100% sure.
@@BlaizeKellyCool thanks. Yeah love the gentems
@@KimbalKamui Gentem Giant Manta Ray 159 is what he has sorry.
Very exciting will be there today. May I ask mate what is the gondola you are going up on (is it Village) and the Gondella you are sking down under is that the new ace Gondella hirafu
This whole video was shot in Gate 11 at Niseko Village. Gate 11 is one of the best zones on the mountain in my opinion. It has nice, steep terrain and tends to collect a lot of snow when it dumps. Just know that Gate 11 is an unpatrolled area and is essentially backcountry terrain inside the confines of the resort. Please make yourself aware of the risks involved before skiing in this area (and other Niseko Gates) if you choose to do so.
@ yes indeed. Thanks very much.
It will come!
@@Loveofpowder it always does.
At least my board should should hopefully get there without delays then

LFG MATE! Always looking forward to your uploads. Big love from Singapore!
You're a legend! I'm glad you enjoy them.
Are the gates that are still within the confines of the mountain (7, 11, 9, strawberry?) patrolled or are they still considered backcountry/avi gear recommended?
@@dabflies Strawberry isn't technically a gate, but the others yes. Going out a gate means you're going into unpatrolled terrain. G11 is the only place on the mountain they avy bomb. But just because they bomb, doesn't mean it's safe. It's one the the steepest parts of the mountain. G9 I have personally had to help dig someone out of the river. Not a fun situation to be in without a shovel at least. G7 I don't ride much but have seen people online posting about falling into holes and all sorts. Avalanches are only one of the many hazards you may encounter in these areas. Hazards are not marked or checked for you like inside the resort. The correct gear isn't mandatory to ride any of the gates in Niseko. It's actually not even mandatory for backcountry skiing. However people who know and understand the risks properly, generally tend to have the correct gear with them at all times. You just never know when you're gonna need it.
@BlaizeKelly thanks for the detailed reply! Probably won't be going out any gates when I visit. I'm not trained in any backcountry stuff and for me it's not worth the risk for a couple days of skiing. Living in Calgary the resorts near Banff never seem to get more than a few cm at a time, if there is any fresh snow at all. So I'll be quite happy riding the stuff you describe as mediocre 😅 And congrats on the monetization!
@@dabflies give Strawberries and Miharashi a look for sure. They are nice tree glades that are good for getting your toes wet with some off-piste skiing. You still have to be careful of hazards but not as much as the gates. I've been to Calgary and skied the resorts around Banff. Such a lovely place in the world that whole area. Just insanely cold, or at least it was when I went (we had a week of like -40°C). Thank you for the support!
Where are you in this vid?

将来的には北海道新幹線がニセコに出来るのかな? そうなれば、東京から一直線ですが、どうなのかな? 今のニセコは日本人にもちょっと不便な場所ですからね😓。
There are plans for the Shinkansen to be built to Kutchan for 2030. It will make it much more convenient to get here from other places in Japan. I do worry though that the infrastructure of Kutchan and Niseko will not be ready for it though. There is a lot of problems and developments that need to be made to support the amount of new people it will bring to the area.
Upvoted for Quinn's new 2025 Orca 🐋
This was a perfect day for that board!
I got to say, I enjoy watching those ads! 💸 Congrats on getting monetised, hope you’ll be rolling around in something more then all that pow one day soon!
Haha I can't say I have any idea what the ads are about, but that's good to hear. I don't particularly aim to be rich from doing this, I just want to be able to ski like this every year. Your support is helping my slowly achieve this goal!
Another too, too crazy day in japow, you sucky dog. You might want to check out hydration packs when looking for powder cords. When I lived in ski resorts and skied 100 day/season I started having back issues too an it got bad after a while. For what it's worth, I got over my back problems by using inversion boots, they REALLY helped, just a thought. Cheers.
My back was fine after 2 days. I think I just landed a jump really poorly on my first run and it jarred my spine a little bit. I always carry a bottle of water in my backpack, but I think a bag with the ability to store an internal water bladder would be a good idea.
@@BlaizeKelly Early in the video one of your mates said he had to go back home to get his helmet, does that mean they don't allow you the slope w/o a helmet.
@@rickden8362 No, you can ride with no helmet here if you want.
OMG! I want to come skiing with you
If you come to Niseko, maybe it's possible!
3 nice lines here! Haven't ride the gate 11 last season, this video shows that's a mistake. Happy I'm here with you bro, I look so tired on my way back to Japan :)
Hey blaize! Love the videos! Where do you work on your off days?
I actually work remotely for a company back in Australia.

Really want to do the AST1 course. thanks for the reccy. Im def gonna check them out. Prob next yr when Im in niseko for a few months
You'll be super happy you did it. So much information that is good for in and out of the resort!
I was hiking up to G1 or G2 -cant remember which one is at the top on the way to hirafu-. It was really icy and i slipped and slid down all the way back down. Holding onto my board for dear life. Was pretty terrifying.
G3 is the gate at the top of the "Pizza Box" lift in Hirafu that has the hike to the summit. Sounds extremely scary what happened to you. It has almost happened to me many times, especially when it's windy. I think poles would maybe be helpful for you for the hike. But you obviously need a bag to carry your snowboard and snowboard poles so you can fit them in the bag.
@@BlaizeKelly yeah for sure! It was around the top of annapurri not hirafu😅 idk why i got confused but yeah sun shining, ice underfoot and holding onto my board got dear life
Where online (In english) can i get a report with what gates are open that day and any identified hazards in those zones.

One week out from getting a taste of what Niseko has to offer! 🎉
Fingers crossed it storms hard when you're here and we get plenty of pow!
Man why couldn't the snow have been like this last season hope your having a good one looks all time 👍
There was plenty of pow last season too. It just came in late Jan, Feb and early March. Just a right place, right time kind of situation I guess. You never know when it's gonna come down unfortunately.
@BlaizeKelly I must of missed it came early march no fresh in Niseko had decent stuff in Furano. We were meant to hit some resorts in the north of the mainland but we're told conditions were bad. Headed to Nagano and had two epic days. Not complaining had a great time just seeing conditions this year. Of to Austria in a few weeks have you done anywhere in Europe?
@@Charlie666- Sounds like you did just miss it. We had a storm I think around the 10th of March last season and I was skiing waist deep pow until 19th March. I have skied once in France, but it was such a horrible season that year. Have mainly skied in Canada, US and then only Japan for the last 5 or so years.
@@BlaizeKelly Yeah it is what it is still had a great time, I'm UK based so mainly ski Europe, done Canada a few times and north America. Heading to Colorado next season. One trip that's on my list is gulmarg in the Himalayas definitely ticking that off before I hang my boots up
@Charlie666- I've been seeing a fair bit of Gularg on socials lately. Looks pretty nice! What do you mean hang your boots up? Are you inferring you will stop skiing some day soon? 😅

Looks awesome, will be arriving in a week😊. How long are you queuing for lifts on average ?? It’s looks crazy busy.
Anywhere from 30 seconds to 10-15 minutes, it really depends on the day. I have been here long enough to know which lifts/areas to avoid at what times to reduce the amount of time I spend in queues though.
