Early season pow hits different!
No crowds, deep pow and sassa grass... What more could you ask for?

After shocking first day on the mountain, I wasn't sure what to expect going into my second day. I woke up to a good 20cm overnight dump and the news that more lifts and terrain would be opening that day.
With all this in mind, I met up with Quinn and just decided to see where the day would take us. With only really seasonal staff around and a small number of tourists, the slopes were almost empty and there was plenty of pow to go around.

Looks unbelievable!
It is man! Give it a month, all the green will be gone and it will look completely different.
Love the videos bro - hope to see you around in a couple weeks ✌️
Thank you man! Hit me up when you're here, I'm always keen for a ride. Or if you see me out and about, come and say hello!
Exciting! Really gotta go to Hokkaido some day.
Nice vid bro. Im already hooked to your channel after four days😂
Thank you man, I'm happy you like the content. Do you ski yourself?
Yeah im still aa begginer tho
@@LimuZ_keeb Everyone was a beginner at some point. Just keep at it and I'm sure you'll improve!
Awesome Video Blaize!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice bro, can't wait for my season to start! One week to go.
@@PetesHakubaDiaries nice man, where are you off to?
@@BlaizeKelly Hakuba mate, it's in the name! :D So pumped I even started to make some videos too. Would love to visit Hokkaido some day too though.
@@PetesHakubaDiaries Haha yeah I read your name after I replied and then sat here waiting for you to type exactly what you did😂 I'd love to get back to Honshu sometime. Bit bigger terrain down there and would be interesting. We should trade places one winter!
@@BlaizeKelly I'll definitely visit Hokkaido either this or next season. Need to ski some volcanoes...
Mate this is sick, can't wait to be there in February. What time did you get to the Ace Gondola to be that close to the front of the line?
Got there at like 8.05, but there's not many people here people here at the moment. That will change very soon. Wishing you (and me) deep pow for February!
Puki Yuki central! Needs a bit more yet though to open the trees up a bit more off the King. But, it’s coming! Yew!
TAPS AIN'T TURNING OFF
It's only just starting my man!
Love the boyz on the lift adding to your stoke!
Love the boyz on the lift adding to your stoke!
haha it's funny, you can tell who the Aussie's are by the amount of "yews" thrown 😂
Love the boyz on the chair stokin’ the stoke!
Hard to resist going there when you know it’s like this so much!
Looking forward to the vids for the season, was in japan back in late February this year. Have you been to Furano took a trip there from Niseko was good.
Hell yeah man, looking forward to showing you the season through my eyes! I have been to Furano actually, I did a week trip out there during my first season for work. Unfortunately, didn't get any good snow during my stay but I really liked it out there. A bit colder and drier than Niseko but still super Japanese which is one of the things Niseko is missing these days.
@BlaizeKelly yeah feeling that about Niseko Rusutsu isn't far though and definitely has a more Japanese flavour to it, Hakuba is also good if you can get down to the mainland, Nagano area as well.
i ain’t gon say you lucky cuz that looks a bit rough, but man the things i would do to get some powder right about now
@@phineasscott this will be almost daily occurrence for the next couple of months. A blessing and a curse 😅
Is this hokkaido?
@@brycetwyning4436 sure is! I'm in Niseko for the season.
Not very often a storm isn’t in Niseko from Dec to Mar. ps plenty of days to ski deep pow. Don’t quit the day job that pays to keep you there!
Haha nah I love my job, not quitting anytime soon!
I'll be there next week brother
@@therandomfish4425 hell yeah man, should be mint by then! This storm is here for the next week lol.
Bin it!
I certainly binned it as my weather station. Have kept it's standard function as a bin though.
@@BlaizeKelly 😆
That’s a better weather station.
I feel like I may be on the road of becoming slightly too official now?
Wait for it, Ullr will deliver, always does to Nis!
It'll come. It always does!
Living the dream!
Love it! The stoke is real!
Rookie error!
Getting the stoke going for everyone!
Your second home.
😂 don’t you love when you are an advanced skier but go back to gumby status every so often?!
@@Loveofpowder sometimes you just have to do something stupid to humble yourself. This was one of those times and should keep me in check for the rest of the season!
@@BlaizeKelly yeah, we all have our humbling moments mate!
Enjoy it while it’s there, it won’t be long before you won’t see it often!
@@Loveofpowder It's come out a couple of times today for 5 minutes at a time. Typical Hokkaido weather 😅
Early days!
very early days!
Love the videos bro, keep them coming
@@tomf3290 glad you enjoy them! Plenty more to come, it's only early season. P.S. the next one is a banger!
awesome POV! Cannot wait til I get here.
@@dianaa8125 glad you liked it! However, this is probably my worst video in terms of skiing 😅 The next one is a banger, should be out in the next couple of days. I'll save some pow for when you arrive!

thank you for watching and commenting!
Haha day 2 ladsss Keen to get some more snow beards with ya king 🏂
@@quintessential_21 this was only a warm up day 😉
How good is that feeling when your first clip your ski's on in Japan
@@powderskier5547 almost as good as the first face shot of the season. A solid 9/10 🤙
I miss everything about Japan, the food, accomodation, toilets, the service, onsens and off course the snow, my 13th season coming up in January Asahidaike, furano and Tomamu, my first trip to Hokkaido. The food in Japanese servo's and 7 elevens is better than most Aussie restaurants
mate, you had me the moment you said toilets. I've wanted to start a business that imports Japanese toilets to Australia. So many assholes in Aus that don't know what they are missing out on 🤣 13 seasons is a serious effort. I thought I was becoming a veteran at 3 but sounds like I've got many years of learning to go. Enjoy your season!
put the goey on ya helmet
bro force of bad habits hey. Caught myself mid sentence 🤣
Back in your place!
Yes I am! Miss you guys though.
Cool video bro
@@LimuZ_keeb glad you liked it. This is one of my shitter ski videos if I'm being honest. Make sure to check out some of the others 😅
Will do😊
Just asking do you have any food recommendations in niseko?
@@LimuZ_keeb depends on your budget and how early you book. It gets busy fast and most groups book before they get here. The Alpinist, Rocketto, HakuSteak, Kamimura, Sushi Kato and Naniwatei are some of the higher end places for great dinner. All different types of food between them. Cheaper dinners it's worth just exploring around the village. There's heaps of food trucks now too which all do great food for a different experience. Restaurants you have Vale Bar and Grill, Tamashii, Lava Lounge just to name a few that I've been to. Breakfast you have Cafe Cubanos, Greenfarm and Graubunden which are all worth a look and all do good coffee. Sounds like I need to build a website and write up some informative blogs with the knowledge I have built up over the years. You've given me motivation to do it!
Thansk for the recommendations ill be staying at the vale
I would say that was a dinsaster 😂😂😂 Class video man!
@@giorgionicola haha man I wish I had thought of that!
@BlaizeKelly 😂
😂😂😂
First time watcher and like your vlogging style, now a subscriber. For me, as a Niseko tragic, it would be nice to for you to say what run/gate you doing during a video. There are lots of videos detailing the side country so you wouldn't be revealing any secrets.
@@dillinger-yo4vc glad you like the videos, I appreciate it a lot! I actually used to have the area/run on my first few videos but kind of decided to stop doing it. Mainly because I do ride out of the resort boundaries a lot and I don't want my videos to be encouraging people to go there who aren't experienced. There's so many risks involved with skiing in backcountry terrain and I'd hate for someone to follow one of my videos and end up getting hurt or worse. I might change it up this season, who knows yet. Gotta consider the potential positives and negatives of doing it.
@@BlaizeKelly I agree, any back country should be identified very generally so as to keep it secret but naming the side country (gates) and tree areas between pistes will most likely get you more followers. Regards from Perth and save some fresh snow for me when I arrive mid Jan!
@@dillinger-yo4vc Yeah it's a fine line between annoying the locals vs. satisfying the newcomers unfortunately. Haven't quite figured out how to navigate it properly keeping both parties happy haha! Anyways, this season I'll be doing a fair bit more talking to myself while filming so will likely go over where I'm riding or heading to as I ski. Keep an eye out! Not long now until I may see you on the slopes. Should be a good January!
When planning and finding accommodation, do you use something similar to Alluradirect Ownersdirect for finding condo, townhomes similar to what you find in Whistler, but in and around Nesiko. Cheers P.S. Agree BNE domestic is getto and ripoff in all aspects.
@@craigrowe7153 unfortunately it's not a simple task finding accommodation in Niseko for longer term stays. Housing is a pretty big issue here these days. Very few places make it onto the internet and those that do are usually from foreigners subletting rooms. You'll find some options in the Niseko FB groups, so I would recommend joining them and hunting around. Otherwise contacting some local Real Estate companies is might be an option.
@@BlaizeKelly Ya, I'm planning an MTB trip to Japan and want to check out the trails around the Nesiko area. It has to be cheaper than Whistler.
@@craigrowe7153 ah if you're coming outside of winter time you'll probably find something pretty easily. As soon as the snow disappears it turns into a ghost town. Only the locals left until the next winter starts.
4th year in a row for me, from Australia
