I did the same thing and bought a pair of FX SVHO Cruiser Limited this year. I won't take delivery until the end of the month because winter won't go away ... lol. I still have my 2020, the same model, and going to deck it out for fishing. I still want to ride along with you and your buds so post a meet and greet, please. Go Huskies!

    Great video Captain Frank. Looks like the 2024 is quite similar to the 2022 FX. Did you notice the extra weight over your 2020? I wanted to ask you which rack do you recommend for the FX. I believe you bought a PWC Super Rack, but I wanted to know which model. I would be using it for extra fuel and a cooler. Thank you.

    I looked at the svho, but I went with the seadoo Explorer Pro 230. The delamination problems with Yamaha hull sorta scared me. Now I’m glad I got it. My 230 does 68mph coming and going and hits 69 occasionally. But I think I would have been happier in rough water with the svho.

    I have my 2018 FX Cruiser SVHO. I wish it would have included half the stuff the do now. I would love to have GPS, touchscreen, audio. They came out with the new touchscreen on the 2019 models, and the audio came with the Limited models, but I didn't see the need to spend extra for it, and I didn't like the limited colors. I made my own RAM mounts on the dash and use it to hold a Garmin handheld GPS. Love the new skis, but I am STILL making payments on mine from when I bought it new in 18, so I won't be getting another one for a very long time.
    It's never seen salt and probably gets about 20-30 hours a year. Last year I didn't get to go out at all.

    AWESOME video sir. You JP water world and Kevin Shaw are my go to experts. Man you are maybe changing my mind from a Kawasaki Ultra 310 LX to your ski. I do to a couple of dealers next week to purchase.
    And by the way I am THRILLED for you on the new ski. I have a few questions. I’m older than you but 6’2" 245lbs and need comfort and it seems your Yammy has that.
    1) I love the ergonomics of controls with one exception and wonder if it’s a small nuisance. The screen control on right side under throttle seems a little awkward if you are cruising at 50 mph and want to toggle to several screens. Navigate, fuel , time, speed, etc. It appears to me you have to reach over across your body to access . Would it be more useful if it were located where the music controls so I can throttle with right hand and screen control with left hand as I (for me) would assume I need to be controlling the screen more than music/?/
    2) where is that river named Kissimi?
    3) I see that you drive distances with trailing. What trailer , wheels etc do I need as I want to ski places you ski and I live below central Georgia.
    4) is lake Lanier a pretty decent place for me to try out new ski??
    Thanks so much you are awesome.

    • @TheShipsLogg
      @TheShipsLogg  4 месяца назад

      Thanks! I see what you mean about using the controls but I really have not found myself trying to use them when underway at higher speeds. The only time I have was to silence the low fuel alarm and since it is just a quick push of a button, it has not been an issue.
      The Kissimmee River is in central Florida. It is a great ride. I have an upcoming video on the ride we did. Look out for it.
      There are a lot of good trailers that are suitable for long distance towing. I would just make sure that it is capable of handling the particular ski that you buy and I would also stay away from trailers with smaller wheels. They have to spin a lot faster at highway speeds.
      Lake Lanier is a great lake. It is a pretty good size and lots of places to discover. It can get a bit crowded on summer weekends because it is popular but I love it.
      Good luck with whatever you purchase.

    Great vid. I also have 2 2024 FX SVHO's and was surprised how much of a wet ride you get in rough water compared to my previous 2018 FX SVHO's. the ski is not as stable as the 2018, but the 2024 is def more powerful esp in performance mode. After some research I found out the reason for the wet ride is due to the ride plate being angled downward to slow the ski down. I am switching it out with a Riva ride plate, hopefully it will angle the nose up a bit. I appreciate your thoroughness on the screen. Have you experienced the same where you are riding?

    • @TheShipsLogg
      @TheShipsLogg  Месяц назад

      Prior to getting this ski, I had a 21 and it was even wetter. They changed the ride plate from 21 to 22 to make it a bit drier and I have seen the difference. I'm not sure how it compares to a 2018 because I have not ridden one. One thing that does help is to trim up a lot.

  • @PTRRanger951
    @PTRRanger951 4 месяца назад

    If you have one one tow vehicle, or a primary one, look in to BOLT Locks. I see you have a cable lock for your spare tire. They have cable locks, but also padlocks, hitch locks, coupler locks, ball locks. But they use your vehicle key. So you can have one key for all your locks, and don't need a bunch of different ones. They make them for all different types of makes of vehicles, just need to find your make, and the type of key you have, regular cut, laser cut, side etc.
    I have a padlock for my spare tire, cable for the ski, hitch pin, two for the riser on the hitch, a coupler lock and then a ball lock that goes into the coupler when not on the truck. Makes it nice to have one key. I have cut off probably 3-4 locks before because I don't use something for a year and misplace the key somehow because I forgot what the key went to and took it off my ring. As long as I have my truck key, I have all the keys I need.

    Hey Captain Frank, great video, a quick question, do you feel any difference between the nano hull and the smc?

    • @TheShipsLogg
      @TheShipsLogg  3 месяца назад +1

      Yes. The SMC hull is a little heavier and it absorbs the shock a bit more. Makes for a smoother ride. BUT, if you are into racing or riding like a rabid banshee, it does mean you don't "feel" the water as much. It handles just as good but the feedback for the rider is a little muted.

    You and I are cut from the same cloth! I've asked you about PWC advice before and I'm happy to report I finally got my 2017 Yamaha EX Sport waverunner. The plan is to keep it for a while then upgrade to a VX then maybe one day a FX. Can I ask a pro such as yourself a couple basic questions? How soon after getting out of the saltwater should you flush it with SaltaWay? ( I have a trip to Charleston planned!) This next question has a ton of variables, but what would you say is your average speed in the Gulf/ocean? I'm assuming around 25-35 due to the waves. Thanks for your continued advice. Justin from NC

    • @TheShipsLogg
      @TheShipsLogg  28 дней назад +1

      @@Justin-hz8bh Hey Justin. Congrats on the purchase. I usually try to flush it as soon as I take it out of salt water. If I don't have Salt-Away right away, I'll use fresh water and hit it with Salt-Away later. You are correct on our speeds when riding the ocean. It's all dictated by the water conditions. 25 to 35 is usually in the range. Thanks for checking out my channel.

    • @TheShipsLogg

      I chose the regular FX because I am a pretty tall guy. The Cruiser seat offers great back support but the regular FX seat allows me to sit farther back and stretch my legs. My trailer is a Comfab galvanized. It works well. There are a lot of trailers out there that could work. The main thing is getting one with the proper weight capacity. You should plan on a capacity of at least 1000 pounds of you have the same ski as mine. The ski is less than 900 lbs but you have to account for fuel and gear.

A supercharged machine has more components and it does push out more HP per liter than a NA machine does. By definition, it will require more maintenance. @@CrochetNewsNetwork Yamaha has a new 1.9 litre engine for 2024. So far it is only offered in the naturally aspirated version. The expectation is that they eventually will also offer a supercharged version. I did a video on it a few months ago.

    Seems like you and i are on the same path. I traded my 2020 for the 2024. Did you notice 3 major changes on the ride. Better acceleration (launch), better egding on turns, and the nose rides higher therefore ride is dryer. I would have purchased the limited but i need the seating of the fxsvho due to having long legs. I too noticed you switched from stadium seating to the standard seating on the fxsvho. I bet you find the leg space better than the stadium seating (you look like a tall gentleman).

    • @TheShipsLogg
      @TheShipsLogg  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes, there is a difference in the ride. Very noticeable. I agree! The regular seat makes a bit difference for me. I'm 6'8"! I know you are enjoying your new machine! Congrats!

    • @CrochetNewsNetwork
      @CrochetNewsNetwork 4 месяца назад

      How does the fxshvo give more leg room than the limited? Leg space is crucial for the jet ski I purchase and notice from the big 3 that many time the new speakers eat up some foot well space. I’m 6’2’ or so but have long legs. I need to get this part correct and the correct hull for the smoothest ride during a little chop. Thanks much for you input

    • @TheShipsLogg
      @TheShipsLogg  4 месяца назад +3

      @@CrochetNewsNetwork The difference is legroom is between the Regular FX and the Cruiser. The FX has a flatter seat so you can sit a bit further back and stretch your legs.

      A few follow up questions for ya lol
      1. Did you notice a difference in feel from the old nano hull to the new fiberglass?
      2. Have u reached out to the guy who made the chat plotter mounr for the 21 ski? If so, does he have a solution for the new cup holder mount layout? If not what do you have in mind for that setup?
      3. (I have a 21 identical to your 21) a friend of mine just got a 23, to me it seemed to turn and maneuver great, but did have a heavier less able to throw it around feel. Also my 21 seems to jump out of the hole a tad quicker. May be due to the lighter hull material feel I not sure.
      4. Why did you not go for the cruiser option? I've been thinking of not going the cruiser route on my next ski because the stadium seating isn't sp comfortable when trying to fish off the ski.
      Sorry for the book, just a few things that popped in my mind watching your video.

    • @TheShipsLogg
      @TheShipsLogg  4 месяца назад +3

      @@charlesprice7790 Yes, there is a difference. The fiberglass hull is a little heavier and thicker which translates to a smoother ride. Some riders who race like the NanoExcel better because they can feel the water better. I don't race so I like the smoother ride.
      I have talked to Loren recently and he does have a solution for the newer Yamaha machines.
      The newer FX machines are a little heavier. That may explain the holeshot. Now, the 24 model has a performance mode which basically enables launch control. I can see that making a difference. The improved handling is probably due to a different ride plate and improved placement of the sponsons.
      My '21 ski is actually a Cruiser. I ended up buying a regular seat for it because it allows me to stretch my legs out much better. I'm 6'8" and that is really important. The cruise seat does provide really nice back support though.
