This video is still a great learning resource after 13 years---ageless phootgraphy wisdom. All of these tips are still relevant. Amazing.

I have enjoyed many videos on this site but this guy is superb! To be able to use on camera flash to this level is brilliant and has opened my eyes to achieving great results on a budget. Thanks NVN.

I have reviewed lots of B&H videos. This was by far the best one. Mr. Niekerk explained is worked and showed how he got there. This is how you teach photographers. All others B&H videos beat around the bush. Mr Niekerk doesn't care. He showed his work, the iso, the Fstop and the Aperture of each picture. Love this.......

Amazing! I have learned more in the last 2 hours than I have in the last 2 years. Thank you Neil!

Still a lot to learn from this presentation which has been up for several years. Neil may seem a little overcaffeinated at times, but I guess that's just his passion for photography showing, and what a great teacher and motivator he is! Respect.

Sorry I missed your seminar in Woodcliff Lakes. I have since purchased your book and thoroughly enjoyed this review of many of the methods you mention in your book.

The answer to this is longer than youtube will permit. Pleas ask the customer to send an email directly to askbh{at}bhphotovideo{dot}com, with the subject "Just Gimme the F-Stop", and have them repeat the question, and I will reply. I actually just typed out a giant reply and realized this is for youtube, unfortunately its not possible to edit this one to fit. I'll be in the office each day next week so I'll keep an eye out for the email.

1:05:30 How does the camera magically distinguish between reflected pre-flash and ambient light? In other words, how can the camera tell apart the subject to be flashed from the background? Great lecture by the way.

Hello from New York City! Do you typically add Flash compensation power when bouncing on camera flash? Thank you for informative video.

Hello from New York City! How does the camera's metering mode setting effect the TTL Flash power output? For example: Center weighted , spot or full frame. Thank you for informative video.

What if you don't have white on the subject to fix your brightest exposure on the histogram? Say the lightest color is her face - Do you still then push her face (the brightest color on the subject) to the right of the histogram to the same position where white would have been?

If you "push her face to the right of the histogram" you will make the skin tone white and could loose detail. Images without a true white can be striking but can be tricky to process in post. Experimenting with levels or curves would be my recommendation.

I love all the B&H eventspace videos but , in this case, he may be a great photographer but has a long way to go to become a good presenter/educator, sorry!
