yes i was about to say this! i just restarted my island a few days ago and i am also doing it day by day no online its very refreshing i am doing no teraforming because i have a newborn and it stresses me out lol i am just decorating as i go and focusing on getting fishes and bugs collecting them all and all the seasonal diys
I like Red Leaf. And yeah keep Deirdre. She’s a good sisterly. It’s always nice to be able to keep a starter. Especially now that we can fix their houses.

Love that you started a new island!! As far as keeping resident services a tent unfortunately it takes a fair bit of planning ahead of time and has major restrictions. You build up the skills of a second person on another switch. That person can’t be an island representative. When you move them you keep your house, skills and money. But you are stuck with the first two villagers you get. You won’t be able to change them. You also can’t move any houses or buildings so you have to plan out where to place things. You are limited to 4 villagers and have to always keep one of the 3 housing plots that you get that would be your 5th villager in your pocket. If the 5th villager moves in it triggers resident services to upgrade. You are also stuck with only one bridge and no inclines. And you are unable to spend over a certain amount if you want to keep nooks the original as well. So it’s very very limiting and takes a bit of planning how you want to design and who you want before.
I love this for you. 😭 That's amazing Donna gifted you an OLED! AND you got Deirdre. She's one of my favorites. I got her as a starter on one of my islands and I had to get her on my new one. She's the best sisterly ever. 🦌
Shoutout to Donna! But oof this is gonna be a grind. We’re here for the content though. I guess this means you’ll have to get the DLC again and speed run so you can decorate the villager houses.

To keep resident services as a tent, you have to move a resident onto the island that already has the terraforming tools unlocked. This person won’t ever be your resident representative, that can’t be changed. To keep Nooks as the original shack, you have to avoid spending or selling 250,000 bells worth of transactions with them.
Took me 45 minutes of restarting over and over to find a layout I liked. I wanted res services to be as far away from the airport as possible. Worth the excruciating effort. The one I chose is the one you picked!
I love the start of the game! I know it’ll probably be a few years away still but I cannot wait for a new animal crossing game to experience the start of the game for the first time again!

Great video, glad you restarted (in essence, lol) as it will be more natural for meadowcore as opposed to rebuilding on already terraformed land, if you get what mean. So excited for the new island & good pick for a name. Big plus that's it's not gonna be called Horrorland. Great for last year's theme but this is better.
I was burnt out on my 1st island, and felt like i couldn't make any progress regardless of what i tried. So i restarted knowing now what i didn't before of how i want certain things placed (airport to resident services and etc)... so far i am loving my new island and may even do a no terraforming island! with small adjustments depending on bridge needs and such.
That was so nice of Donna! And your starting villagers are sooo good! I love Pashmina, but Deirdre would fit this island a bit better. I'm excited to watch this island unfold

Holy crap!!! How cool is Donna???? Though it is still so ludicrous to me that something like this even needs to be done to be able to keep an island! I don't understand how the devs think it's a good idea to make a game that a person could potentially put literal real life YEARS into.... and then the only way to enjoy the game from the beginning is to delete all that very real work and memories... or buy a whole new Switch.
I love everything about this new island! Just in case you didn’t know, I’m not sure you can keep the res services tent. I think you need to build up a second player on an island, unlock terraforming etc and then move them over to a new island as the main res rep. That’s how I’ve seen others do it anyway! For the others, just don’t donate/buy anything but beware you can’t move blathers tent if it’s not had at least one upgrade! Good luck with Red Leaf! Can’t wait to watch it grow!

Trick I learned from Nora at Horrible Gaming. You can get to 3 stars super fast by using mannequins, just like you do when you make a rock garden. I just restarted, and got to 3 stars and terraforming in 2 days! Now all the mannequins have gone, I'm back down to scraping the bottom of 2 stars again, but they don't take terraforming away. Get all your villagers, fill your island with mannequins, and walla! How nice of Donna to give you a lovely new Switch! Donna, if you have any spare ones... You can't get to three stars if you keep Resident Services in its original form, because Isabel does the ratings. It automatically updates, anyway, so there isn't much you can do to stop it. You can keep Blathers in a tent if you don't give him all the specimens he wants. You won't get Brewster, though. And you can stop Timmy and Tommy from updating Nook's Cranny by keeping their kit in your pockets.
Cheers to Red Leaf and Donna, the real MVP!! You should watch NinaTries video on how to keep Res Services in the tent, I think it’ll make you change your mind about it! You have to keep your starter villagers, can never move anyone’s houses, and cannot have more than 4 villagers total. Plus no inclines or bridges apart from the one starter log bridge Tom gives you. It’s much easier to keep Nooks Cranny in its OG form (do not sell or buy anything from the boys, including Nook Shopping) and Blathers in his tent (just know wherever you place his tent is where it will stay forever). But baby Nooks Cranny can still be moved! I’m so excited for Camp Red Leaf and this new island energy! Let’s goooo! 🧡

It's a bit project) then got the winter and Christmas fever and decided to start up New Horizons again to make a cottagecore/forestcore winter island. I wanted to call it the White Weald but GG Nintendo with the 10 character limit. It's called Eiswald. It means Ice Forest. I love it. Very happy with Teddy as my starter (I LOVE him so much!)

based on my experience your neighbors will eventually get houses but the resident service tent will not upgrade until you complete the island getaway package task for tom nook

Saw the title of the video while at work and spent the rest of my shift thinking, "there's no way he restarted" "I'm 99% sure he's not gonna restart" "there's no way". Definitely glad you decided to start a new island. I've been debating picking up a second switch to do the same. So pricy though... Can't wait for the streams of the new island! Also looking forward to learning how.to keep buildings in stage 1. The more rustic/camp vibes match my themes much better.
This was very generous of them, but I hate to say.. your Vegas dream address would've still existed even if you wiped and restarted your Switch. I only have 2 Switches but I have 4 working dream addresses (lost one code though, forgot to screenshot it before restarting) but my first island on my 2nd Switch i can still visit, even after restarting the game twice on that same Switch since I saved it. Your dream only erases when its replaced, but if you restart completely you get a new dream address so the OG dream isn't deleted or replaced. Not trying to be negative, just not everyone knows this. Also, yes, keep Deirdre. I had her as a starter once, I loved her And at least this way you still have resources from your other switch to send to the new one, so even though you're working on it before Halloween, you current switch still has Halloween items to send over. So it all works out

If you want to keep the museum as a tent something to keep in mind is that you can't move it in that stage. So you have to pick a really good spot. Staying on the same note as the museum? Don't donate anything to it otherwise it'll upgrade to a building.
Deirdre was my starter and she's still here 2 years later!! I just love her she's so adorable! Thankfully managed to redecorate her starter house after completing hhp :-)

BUTTT!!!! If you restart then your Dream Address can be visited forever because you get a new Dream Address each time you restart (not flatten, restart entirely). Dream Addresses aren't linked to the Switch itself! If you restart entirely you can still visit the old DA (but not make changes of course)
I restarted and had to keep restarting because I need green or blue for airport and either have Muffy (doesn't matter the Jock if Muffy is the sisterly) or any combination of cub jocks and a deer sisterly. I'm picky. Also, I can't stand the islands with two south river ports. It needs to be either east or west
To keep Nooks Cranny small you need to not buy/sell over 200,000 bells worth of things. I did this on my fairycore island, and just used my other island to buy and sell on.
this is so exciting pat !! it's really going to give the channel and us a breath of fresh air i do love take down streams but early game streams will be just as fun, if not more!!
I got a Switch lite for a Southern Hemisphere island. I was pretty happy because my original island had peaches, just like all my other games started with, and I had better villagers than my original island. My first had Renee and Poncho. My Southern Hemisphere had Reneigh and Rudy. Then I got an OLED, moved my main island to that Switch and my son suggested I make yet another island on my original Switch. That was a bad idea because I actually did it… I got Pashmina and Bam. Now I have 3 islands and I’m broke trying to sustain them all 😂
Regarding Resident Services as a tent: RUclipsr NinaTries has a super in-depth tutorial on how to keep the tent 🥰 and also a „checklist“ on her website what to do / avoid if you want to keep the tent :) just search for „acnh keep resident service tent“ and her video pops right up! Hope this helps!

This was very generous of them, but I hate to say.. your Vegas dream address would've still existed even if you wiped and restarted your Switch. I only have 2 Switches but I have 4 working dream addresses (lost one code though, forgot to screenshot it before restarting) but my first island on my 2nd Switch i can still visit, even after restarting the game twice on that same Switch since I saved it.
Your dream only erases when its replaced, but if you restart completely you get a new dream address so the OG dream isn't deleted or replaced.
Not trying to be negative, just not everyone knows this.
Also, yes, keep Deirdre. I had her as a starter once, I loved her
And at least this way you still have resources from your other switch to send to the new one, so even though you're working on it before Halloween, you current switch still has Halloween items to send over. So it all works out

If you want to keep the museum as a tent something to keep in mind is that you can't move it in that stage. So you have to pick a really good spot. Staying on the same note as the museum? Don't donate anything to it otherwise it'll upgrade to a building.
Deirdre was my starter and she's still here 2 years later!! I just love her she's so adorable! Thankfully managed to redecorate her starter house after completing hhp :-)

BUTTT!!!! If you restart then your Dream Address can be visited forever because you get a new Dream Address each time you restart (not flatten, restart entirely). Dream Addresses aren't linked to the Switch itself! If you restart entirely you can still visit the old DA (but not make changes of course)

I restarted and had to keep restarting because I need green or blue for airport and either have Muffy (doesn't matter the Jock if Muffy is the sisterly) or any combination of cub jocks and a deer sisterly.
I'm picky. Also, I can't stand the islands with two south river ports. It needs to be either east or west
To keep Nooks Cranny small you need to not buy/sell over 200,000 bells worth of things. I did this on my fairycore island, and just used my other island to buy and sell on.
I didnt know how I felt Tank at first, but I love him now. He and Fuchsia where my starting.

I got a Switch lite for a Southern Hemisphere island. I was pretty happy because my original island had peaches, just like all my other games started with, and I had better villagers than my original island. My first had Renee and Poncho. My Southern Hemisphere had Reneigh and Rudy. Then I got an OLED, moved my main island to that Switch and my son suggested I make yet another island on my original Switch. That was a bad idea because I actually did it… I got Pashmina and Bam. Now I have 3 islands and I’m broke trying to sustain them all 😂
Regarding Resident Services as a tent: RUclipsr NinaTries has a super in-depth tutorial on how to keep the tent 🥰 and also a „checklist“ on her website what to do / avoid if you want to keep the tent :) just search for „acnh keep resident service tent“ and her video pops right up! Hope this helps!
