G’day! Thank you mega heaps for watching. I tried to do some researching and explaining about Thunderegg goodness this week, but if I’ve got anything wrong or you have anything to add please leave a comment. I’d love to learn.
I’m struggling to get back to every one at the moment but trust me I LOVE reading them. Until next weeks video I wish for happy healthy good times and happy hounding for each of you. See you soon and again, thank you 🙏

G'day! You've done nothing wrong...LOL, just wanted to let you know not to worry, no one really completely understands why they make that star pattern. If you ever want any thunder eggs from Oregon to play around with, just let me know, I'll send you some free of charge! You have no idea how many people you inspire here in the states! We are all always excited for each of your videos to post and your videos are outstanding!

I'm so glad you brought up the native story of the thundereggs. There is a petroglyph in Central Oregon that depicts one of the gods with thundereggs flying through the air behind it. The park has a sign for the petroglyph that states that nobody knows what is depicted though every rockhound I've spoken to that has seen it has a good laugh with me about that. Oregon has beautiful thundereggs and my new home in KY has an abundance of crystal lined geodes. Nature is magic. Thank you so much for the great videos.

Aren't they beautiful! I have to confess that I have a problem in retaining information. I can read about various rocks & understand there formations, how they come about to be. But if I tried to explain to someone about it, I just can't. I don't know why. Anyway I've had a great love for stones since I was little. You find them. Cut & polish them. Sometimes some are so beautiful as they are. Thank you for showing these glorious thunder eggs. They speak for themselves. Simply beautiful! Can't wait for the next episode! Love & peace.

I have lived in Oregon my entire life 50+ years, rockhounding everywhere. I have researched why some thunder eggs grow in a star pattern and still the answer (even from the local university and gem clubs) is.... no one really knows why! In one particular area we have/had gem quality opal inside of rhyolite thunder eggs. I watch your channel all the time. Best videos on RUclips for sure!

Oh man thank you so so much for the massive compliment Alex mate. I’m so glad you enjoy the videos.
I know right, even with the growth of agates, no on really can say for certain how it happens. There’s theories and stuff but not definite proof. I kinda reckon that makes them even more awesome right 😁👍

I live in Washington state and have travelled all over Washington and most of Central Oregon for Thundereggs over the past 10 years and many other gems and minerals.
You have some amazing ones there.
I would love to trade and send you some of what we have found and cut open from over here in the states.
I travelled to Kentucky a few months ago and pulled out a 48 lb T-egg, but couldn’t find anyone to cut it open for me. It is currently being watched over by my best friend until she can find someone to cut it or she rolls her 20’ saw out of storage. I was too cheap to pay $150.00 to ship it home without knowing how it looked inside and it wouldn’t fit in my luggage. 🤣
I LOVE all rocks and minerals, including Fossils.
I forgot to add that we have fluorescent T-eggs that glow , fluores, green when under a UV light. You should try using a UV light and black light to some of your T-eggs to see if any fluores.

Love the cuts on the last couple or so thunder eggs cut into rectangles; the first one really does look like it is a mountian range scene, and the other easily looks like a small portion of a really nice map or globe!
Makes me wonder if the rocks can be cut in spheres. I don't know anything about cutting rocks, just wondering. Learning about geology and how rocks were formed has always been interesting to me.
I appreciate that you mentioned not wanting to share too much about how thunder eggs are formed, because you're in the midst of absorbing the info yourself, and you don't want to teach the material incorrectly. That shows respect for yourself and your audience! Bravo, stay curious, keep learning!
Watched the video again, also love the one that looks like a lake with a deep bowl on the left side and ice forming all around the lake edges. It's like a tiny world trapped inside the rock.

:) You kinda mixed the origin of vesicular agate and thunder eggs. Vesicles are pockets of gas that got captured as the lava cooled, they're ~spherical. Thunder eggs occupy areas where rhyolite has undergone cooling shrinkage, and are hence always angular. From my experience, both pronunciations of botryoidal are acceptable. :)
The 'white dots' beside the smoky crystals might be a clay mineral of some type. I'm still learning about those, and how they contribute to agate formation, which, still nobody knows for *sure* for sure how exactly it forms.
Some truly stunning pieces there tho my friend! Nice job!

Just an example how two people can see two very different interpretations of the same object. The portion you said looks like Thunderclouds, I looked at and immediately thought of a coastline. The banded portions looking like the larger waves having crashed upon the shore and retreating, while a river empties out into the bay. Beautiful stones. And i look forward to your choices for the remaining parts of that massive thunder egg.
