Im so jealous. I absolutely looove sunstones and you guys did excellent this time. Great job with all those camera angles and explaining everything and for your pointers. I am going to have to add that location to my bucket list. Fantastic video. Really enjoying your content and all the hard work you put in. Thanks for sharing, Quest.
This place is super cool to check out. The gemstones are amazing! I think my favorite so far is the ones with the schiller effect. One of these days I want to find a good sized green and blue stone. Night-time here is another world with the wild critters running around. We heard coyotes chasing down local rabbits. This one rabbit actually bolted right up to my tent to hide out. I heard him scratching around and found some signs of his visit the next morning. Heads up, though, the wind can be intense and watch your step, there's scorpions around.
I know the area somewhat. Hart Mountain is a favorite spot of mine due to the hot springs. Lately I have been getting interested in sunstone, opal, and tumbling, in part due to my travels taking me into the vicinity of precious crystals. Lately physical limitations have prevented me from getting out the way I would like. Watching videos like this piqued my interest, so I looked this mine up. Turns out you can mail order the concentrate from Spectrum Mines or have them pick stones off the belt for you, and you get what they pick mailed to you. Now I have bought a new tumbler, and am currently tumbling a load of the lower grade stuff to see how it turns out. Getting Oregon sunstone is not cheap that way, but considering the cost of fuel, that in itself needs to be factored in. You miss out on the thrill of self discovery, but it is a hell of a lot more entertaining than most of what is on tv or the internet Rocks need to come with a government health warning due to their highly addictive nature.
Hart Mountain is a very neat place. I think it's wild how the top is like a completely different world from the surrounding area. Glad I piqued your interest! How did the tumbled sunstones turn out?
@@RockHoundQuest I have ordered two belt runs and a five gallon bucket from Spectrum Mine, recieved one belt run and the 5 gallon bucket so far, and did what I figured was okay. Ordered a 'table' from Sun Summit Sunstones, and not very happy. I got more and better stones delivered from Spectrum in the same size package (small flat rate box) So far I have found lots of rock chunks included with very little, or no crystal on them, hardly any color or schiller so far, and a ton of cleanup on any 'keepers'. Not too happy with Summit's product. Waste of money. Why bother to send worthless stone, except to fill the package?
great finds they have there own magic do sunstones the ones i've seen but hey never seen one in my hand, look at the size of that monster lol, enjoyed the video, take care catch you
