How I Turned a River Rock into a Beautiful Necklace
Amazing Work
Rock n roll 🎉
My imagination goes wild with jewlery ideas Thanks for showing Would love to know the state these rocks came from.
I've done a number of stained glass projects and have always wanted to make a 12" booked agate shade. Just how thin can large agate pieces be sliced into? Given the weight of stone, I don't even know if it would be possible if they are any thicker than about 1/4 inch thick. Not looking to make a 50 pound lamp shade after all !
I'm right at the tip of Southern Oregon in CA. I only get to do beach agates, jasper and small pieces of petrified wood. I would so love to know where to begin to look for beauties. My 14 yr old granddaughter and I are both into rock hounding. Thanks for showing us your treasures.
The music is giveing the quiet place XD
lol, that's funny. I like to play around with the music and try different styles.
❤ Both those scenic moss agates!
Great rock finds!! Looks so fun! The blue flower is called Camas. The native americans cooked and ate the root, valuable food source for them. Loves to grow in meadows!
It was a great time with my family. My kids love frogs and tadpoles, and that meadow is full of them, so we had an added adventure looking at the puddles. I really enjoy hounding in the spring when everything comes to life. Cool factoid about the Camas flower.
Killer plume agate!!! 🎉
14:21 , 2 roosters squaring off
PM’d you a cool idea my friend. ✌️
Were you in the pits at the top of little glass butte? I'm planning a trip back there soon, going after rainbow this time, appreciate any tips you have. Got a huge chunk of mahogany and some silver sheen last time. Hoping for a few small pieces of rainbow this time. Thanks!
Unfortunately, I couldn't say because this spot was shown to me and I'm not very familiar with Glass Butte. It's a fun place to visit but also a major road trip for me so I only go occasionally.
Oregon plume agate is divine 😁
My name is jasper
ALLAH ne güzel yaratmış Elhamdulillah☝️🌹👍👍👍

Where is the opalescent?
I know the area somewhat. Hart Mountain is a favorite spot of mine due to the hot springs. Lately I have been getting interested in sunstone, opal, and tumbling, in part due to my travels taking me into the vicinity of precious crystals. Lately physical limitations have prevented me from getting out the way I would like. Watching videos like this piqued my interest, so I looked this mine up. Turns out you can mail order the concentrate from Spectrum Mines or have them pick stones off the belt for you, and you get what they pick mailed to you. Now I have bought a new tumbler, and am currently tumbling a load of the lower grade stuff to see how it turns out. Getting Oregon sunstone is not cheap that way, but considering the cost of fuel, that in itself needs to be factored in. You miss out on the thrill of self discovery, but it is a hell of a lot more entertaining than most of what is on tv or the internet Rocks need to come with a government health warning due to their highly addictive nature.
Hart Mountain is a very neat place. I think it's wild how the top is like a completely different world from the surrounding area. Glad I piqued your interest! How did the tumbled sunstones turn out?
@@RockHoundQuest I have ordered two belt runs and a five gallon bucket from Spectrum Mine, recieved one belt run and the 5 gallon bucket so far, and did what I figured was okay. Ordered a 'table' from Sun Summit Sunstones, and not very happy. I got more and better stones delivered from Spectrum in the same size package (small flat rate box) So far I have found lots of rock chunks included with very little, or no crystal on them, hardly any color or schiller so far, and a ton of cleanup on any 'keepers'. Not too happy with Summit's product. Waste of money. Why bother to send worthless stone, except to fill the package?
Just beautiful
One of my wife and I'd favorite spots.
Dude I just found a piece like this over in the Evans Creek area. I was a little unsure if it's jade or not but seeing you cut this reaffirms mines a jade. Beautiful rock man.
8$ mountain has a really great gravel bar
Absolutely my favorite river to rockhound
ah your cut the dragon but still amazing!!! Oh big heads'!!!!
sick bro beauty on the inside while the cover is rough with inside is beautiful
What do you do just pull over and start walking these lands and looking? Is this just like open land? I live in Oregon and am always rockhounding so was just curious??
This is from multiple areas in Southern Oregon. It's a mix of exploration and going to places that are known to produce cool material.
That’s some of noise in the background.
Yeah... I like to experiment with the background music. It's hit and miss. 🤣
Where dose one go for obsidian. Sorry new to collecting rocks. I am in southern Oregon and haven’t seen any obsidian around my area
I found this at Glass Butte Oregon. ruclips.net/video/e9Lh6Zenppk/видео.html
Nice
Bravo, bravo, bravo. Great visuals; groovy tunes; awesome vibes.
Oh I’d love that I’m in Az and it’s the exact opposite!
Where was this found
This came from Polka Dot Agate Mine, Ashwood, OR 97711
Where in southern Oregon do you typically go to find all these amazing pieces? Im outside of Roseburg along the Umpqua river. Im fairly new to wanting to go rockhound in new places but have always loved finding unique stones. I have a lapidary saw that was just purchased for me as a bday gift. I have found some cool stuff along the Umpqua right where i live but im wanting to find some cool stuff in my neck of the woods or semi close by.
Umpqua forest has tons of good material! I've found lots of jasper, chalcedony and crystals while exploring near Zinc Creek. If you go to Southern Oregon, a good starting place is Worthington.
Interesting patterns, almost Autumn-like.
❤
Beautiful .
Nice art
Interesting patterns on the inside cuts. On the 2nd cut, the piece has what looks like a pair of "eyes" near the top of the stone, & also on its matching piece. Both pieces have interesting banding patterns. If you make handcrafted jewelry, I wonder if you let your immagination loose, do you see a pair of owls as I do?
Interesting color combination!
Where can I get some of that rough?
Sorry, that doesn't exist anymore. Long gone, as that was in the latter part of 1960.
Interesting dendretic pattern. Over 60 years, when I really didn't know much about lapidary or cutting stones, I came across an interesting piece of stone, roughly 2" W x 3" L x 1.5" thick, that I could see what I thought was moss (not knowing) and other things around the perimeter of the agate. I debated myself as to how I should cut it. Finally I decided to saw directly across the middle of the width of the agate, which I did. Once the cut had been made and I separated the 2 pieces; then I made 2 additional cuts, from each half section, approximately 7mm thick. When I looked at each piece, an incredible pattern appeared: I was looking at a realistic scenes: in the foreground, on one piece, a flat mesa with 'mesquite' bushes and beyond, a valley, to a snow-topped mountain range. The other had some similar but a different scene.
