  • Josh Ourada was making his way up the Nutcracker without a rope in Yosemite National Park when the worst situation happened as he lost his grip on the rock face while hundreds of feet up. Free solo climbing is very dangerous in this regard and this video tells the story of how Josh escaped narrowly with his life.
The thumbnail shows Alex Honnold free soloing, who wasn't involved in this accident.

Free soloing is a choice, I do it myself from time to time. only on routes that I am comfortable with.

A decade is not a lot of climbing experience.. This fellow overestimated his ability, something mature climbers don't usually do. It's not that I'm against free soloing, but his choice of route and grade was unwise and could have had much worse consequences.

Succeed or die!! Being disabled in a major way is probably not a consideration to free solo or not. Perhaps it should be.

Succeed or die , kind of a way of life mentality. major disability is part of the thought process that makes you focus . It is definitely a considered thought. Quote from Joe Rogan talking with Ales Honnald, climbing is a calm tension. the adrenaline rush is at the end of the route when you succeed , not during the climb.
Thank you , "always be willing to listen and learn" a motto I love
