Great review of a very desirable watch. I have three Certina watches and think they offer really good value, especially if you are prepared to wait a while and pick up an older model. That's when they are often heavily discounted.
Great for the price. The three Swatch brands you mentioned (Mido, Tissot , Certina) now have the new Powermatic 80 "true" GMT movement in some models all around or under $1K. These will take control of the more affordable GMT market when word gets around , unless Sellita or someone else makes a similar movement other makers can use.
I have this watch with the black dial. It's my third Certina and I'm a fan of their quality. My previous DS diver was passed on to my son because I wanted the current upgrades.
Very interesting offer with several original details. I don't mind it's "entry level" or something. This one is too big for me, but it's good to know they have a 38x45 DS Action.
I watched this earlier today, but wasn't able to comment. This is a very compelling watch. I'm considering this model in black to partner my Certina DS-1 Himalaya, which you also reviewed. I love my DS-1 and think this would be the perfect weekend/rugged-wear companion. However, I am also considering the PH 500, which looks damn tough. Keep up the great reviews.
This is very compelling. Awesome bracelet despite push pins - sharp male end links and a nice adjustable clasp with half links. The iso certification and regulation is impressive. Not sure I'd call it luxury yet tho but a very nice piece. The case just doesn't quite do it for me.
@@TimeAndCrown been wearing it as a work watch since I bought my Tudor. Haven’t even managed to scratch the bezel yet! The only time I really take it off at work is if I’m welding. Bearing in mind my profession, it withstands the vibration and shocks from constant tool usage and keeps amazing time. The only negative I could find if I had to name one, is the the diving extension on mine is cheap and nasty. But, as I don’t dive…
Good review. It's a stunning watch. I thought "DS" is double security meaning waterproof and shock proof? The moment can't be serviced by a watchmaker. It has to be serviced by Certina but it's only £160 to send off. I prefer the skin diver they do.
I like both, ceramic looks more luxurious but you need always to wipe it off with cloth cuz u will always have finger prints, with aluminium never happens. Also ceramic can crack easy if u accidentally bang it on a door or something. Yes its scratch resistant but you cant crack aluminium. Both have positives and negatives. ;)
Good day, everyone! You know l've got the same type of Certina divers just in blue colour. But my one has one mm playback in any position you turn the bezel and when I make a slight push on it, the bezel also has a small backlash. After I discovered that, I came to the shop, and tried other certinas they all have the same thing. I'd like to know is that ok or not?
I presume this is the same powermatic 80 movement that sits in the Tissot seastar? Any recommendations for a swiss made watch with an unmodified ETA 2824? I love this watch but I would like a movement that does not have plastic parts fitted to increase the power reserve, I would prefer a lower power reserve in exchange for a higher beat rate. Thanks
Its a very solid watch but its of course quite far from the quality of a Seamaster. Luxury watches like the SMP is all about perfecting all the small details.
Is the 38mm have not updated yet or they release two really different watches? That would be a shame if they don't update the bezel and dial off the 38mm.
Certina make good watches - I have the earlier ETA2824 version. The bracelet clasp is similar to the Citizen "Excalibur" ISO certified dive watch (Quartz) which is available in the UK for around 150GBP so why doesn't every manufacturer use something similar?
I have the Titanium with black and gold/bronze bezel. I love it. And even thou I have tiny wrists it fits pretty good even thou it is 43mm. Try it at a dealer if you aint buying one cause you think that you have to small wrists. /Love from Sweden.
Im going to buy this watch, but i think it hilarious that they are iso certifying these automatic watches…. Serious divers dont use this stuff anymore. It’s just nostalgia.
This is really an amazing 🤩 looking diver from Certina. As nice as it is I would actually prefer to own the new King Sumo with ceramic bezel and sapphire crystal. Seiko is the brand I truly love . I’m not sure I’d bond with this watch but I know I would love the new King Sumo. I’ve actually already tried the King Sumo on at a local jeweler and I’m in love LOL 😂
This time they really did a good job. The most beautiful Certina so far. Wow. Really can’t stop thinking of buying it.

This watch is incredibly high quality in the sub 1k pricepoint! Saw the blue and titanium in person and it looks and feels amazing!

I purchased the blue one and am absolutely blown away by the quality!

that is literally an Omega watch, so handsome
That type of green colour look so nice on this watch. Beautifull diver. Wear it in good heath!

I have a 38mm blue version as my everyday work watch. I’m a carpenter and this easily stands up to most of what life throws at it.
Hi Miles. Nice to hear first hand experience with the toughness of Certina divers. Enjoy your DS Action Diver.

Certina have made a ceramic bezel before. It was on the certina first model
Great review Anders. Mine in titanium is on its way from Switzerland. (Not in stock here in Oslo) Only wish they had used a matt ceramic insert.
Such an attractive bezel and insert. Not sure why people still “love the vintage look”’of aluminum inserts.

@@Visitor555 I feel the “cracking” risk is overstated just like with sapphire. Have you ever seen one crack?
Will the CERTINA Aqua DS Action Diver 38mm come with a ceramic bezel ?

So, the 38mm version has aluminium bezel and of a diff shade of green?
Not a bad looker, but it's a bit generic & lacks its own character imho. Good review as always, thank you 👍🏻👍🏻
I wish the green was more like the 38mm version
Certina Hulk or emerald. Very Omegaesque which is not a surprise due to Swatch ownership.
Hi Anders
Compared to the newest Omega Seamaster 300m. Only on the dimensions! How compatible are they? Lug to Lug, height, weight...
Hi. The Certina is 1 mm bigger in diameter and approx 2 mm longer lug to lug. It wears heavier and thicker than the SMP. Best regards, Anders.
Certina is such an underrated brand kinda like Mido.
How does the overall build quality in hand, minus things like bezel action compare to the Seamaster?

Surprisingly difficult to find this model in the USA
What would you choose between this and hydroconquest?
I would pick the Hydroconquest. It has a better movement and wears a bit smaller. But its also quite more expensive.
My favorite watch❤

Quizá un verde oscuro, como el Seiko Edge…
Mido Oceanstar is better in every aspect. The best value/quality brand in swatch group in my opinion. ;)
