    To remember, that Vette was king of the hill at one time. As a previous C4 with 6 speed, I loved it. I now own an 03 Z06 and a 79 with an LS7 Big Block/4 speed. Always fun stuff. Thank you for taking her out.

    I bought my C4 Z52 brand new in May of 87. Still have her. I've put 236,000 plus miles on her. Back in the day, Eckler's offered the "Fast pack" then Hypertech offered the stage 1 and 2 chips. When I had all that in, my car could run 13.4's all day at 98mph. You could win a lot of races because they were consistent as Heck! Now, she's in the 11's. New engine, not an L98, nor an LS ;-)! Finally has the power to show what C4's should have been doing the past 40 years!

    Dude your car in friggin AWESOME!
    A 14:2 with a 2.5 final drive ratio?
    Talk about potential. Heck it doesn't really need anything done to it, really. The more ya modify, the less Streetable it gets.

    Nice run, low 14's is about as good as it gets on a TPI vette that are mostly stock. I had an 85 auto in the early 80's, did a ton of mods on it and it ran exceptionally well. Never ran it in the 1/4 but I am sure it would run at least low low 13's. AFR aluminum heads, TPI specialties cam, extruded hone ported upper and lower intake, Arizona speed and marine runners, ported throttle body with the air deflector in it, TPI Specialties custom chip, Aluminum roller rocker arms, ported/modified air filter box etc... ran really good.
    It is still amazing to me that these cars are as cheap as they are, when 5.0 Mustangs, Camaros, Trans Am's, and Grand Nationals of the same era are skyrocketing in price. A C4 Corvette is such a better car than all of the other "muscle cars" of its era that it is not even a competition. I drove every 80's muscle car there is and nothing was close to a C4 in terms of performance. Yes, a Grand National on a cold day, with people cooling the engine down with hoses could out run a C4 in the quarter mile by a small amount, but that was it. If you met a 5.0 Mustang, Camaro, a GN or anything else at a red light on a regular hot day on the street, the C4 would 95% of the time win. The Mustangs could never hook up and the Camaros were too slow, a GN if you had a driver that knew how to run it (a guy that knew how to foot brake the car to load up the converter to get it into boost coming out of the hole) could give you a run for your money, but on the street you would always take them on the top end. And when it came to braking or handling all bets were off, the vette was king of the hill. I was there so I know...

    These cars have significant low end torque gotta ease off the line then stab the throttle... little tip my transmission mechanic taught me was to shift my auto manually, shift a few grand above peak hp which will depend on the mods you've added. This will help your 1/4 mile times and also save your transmission. Your transmission doesn't know what mods youve made. Increasing the fuel pressure helps push your power peak up the rpm range a bit. I think early C4's were at 32 or 36psi and '88's+ were 42psi Also, adjust the tps to .67 volts as opposed to the factory .54...you will feel the throttle response improvement. Also, drop your rear tire pressure to 20-25psi this will help street tires hook up a bit better. Hearing that loud ass heavily modded Camaro next to you made me remember how much it sucks running next to those guys... you can't hear what your car is doing 😢

      Yeah... I wish we had some video lining up together as we did several times, but it was only the two of there that day. He could not hook up with the tires he was running and kept spinning... He ran 14 flat but with better tires I'm sure he would be in the mid to upper 13's.

    I have a '92 LT1. In mostly stock form it ran a 14.1. It has been highly modified and ran a 12.7@111mph. I haven't been to Lapeer dragway in 20+ years. Maybe I'll see you there in summer 2024?

      @JerryJacksonDIY  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hey JC... High 12's is freaking awesome... Would love to see some of your mods to make it go that fast. We will definitely going back to Lapeer in 2024. Had a great time there this year... Hope to see you there.... Thanks for the comment....

    • @JerryJacksonDIY
      @JerryJacksonDIY  8 месяцев назад +3

      The other vette ran low 14’s as well. But couldn’t keep from spinning every time he left the line. If he could hook up most likely in the 13’s.

    Jerry, Just found your channel.
    I've got a 1989 blk on blk six speed C-4 Corvette. "Mr. Hyde" i's my daily driver.
    Maintenance is regular and impeccable, with professional attention The only mod I've done is headers.
    My question is about cams. Do you have an opinion on this upgrade? If favorable, what kind of cam do you recommend?
    Some conversations specifically recommending the Chev "hot cam". Any thoughts or insights into this topic?
    Best regards, M.

A daily driver that has a little more performance or are you going beast mode... I would check out the corvette forums and find something that meets your needs. thanks for watching...

    I like the C4 corvette and would have thought its much quicker & faster, a 1/4mile in 14s and 96mph is slow for a sportscar with that much engine displacement. Nevertheless, the forms of the C4 are the nicest of all corvettes and the pop-up headlights are awesome to have and so much nostlagia too. if i had the money, i would have a 90s Honda NSX and a C4 turbo in my collection. there were factorys that back then modified the C4, they produced a C4 corvette turbo that was 200mph fast back then, an amazing technical achievement back then, street legal too.
