Shawn's innocence, vulnerability, and kindness really resonates in this conversation. And he gains another level of my respect for that. Also, the general idea of the podcast is so good because it evolves around topics not limited to men alone. Thank you so much for this.
Its not about raising your voice, everyone has their days, its about being open for a conversation, is about him giving her space to say “ hey don’t need to get angry, tell me whats going on” . Its about respect, you can raise your voice but the respect has always to be there!

@badgalpal And he on the podcast with Dax Shepard clarified the rumors of his sexuality, saying that he is not gay, and that if he were, it would be fine, he has nothing against gays, and also said that he felt angry that he They called him "gay" because there were people close to him who were from the LGBT community and still did not come out of the closet, in short, he is not homophobic, and his past does not define him as a person.
Ok but Jamey Heath is an AMAZING host. he is always calm and respectful to Shawn but he also doesn't let him get away without addressing a hard question AND calls him out. Ex: "ok but did you say sorry for yelling at her or did you make that moment about your own fear" and THAT is what led Shawn to being even MORE vulnerable and honest in his answer. Just wow. I wish all interviewers/hosts were like him
YES! the whole interview has so many powerful moments, but that one had me sobbing. That, was huge. I came to the comments specifically to mention what Jamey did there. Thank you for commenting on that.
This is truly amazing. 29:20 Shawn is literally expressing Matthew chapter 16 verse 25, "For whoever wills to save his life will lose it and whoever will lose his life for me will find it.” Focusing on something bigger than yourself seems to be the answer to finding life and being okay. 30:04 Shawn sees that self-righteousness (being good at being the good guy) can and usually leads to manipulative behavior. So it's not just about "being good." Proverbs chapter 30 verse 12 "There are those who are clean in their own eyes but are not washed of their filth." (The filth being sinful nature or that "inner darkness" that everyone has.) 30:12 the lady says the solution is to get rid of the ideas of "good guy" and "bad guy" and everyone should just be themselves. But Shawn knows the truth deep down (30:20), that there is a big piece of darkness in us, which the bible calls "sin" or "sinful nature" 30:33 the solution is not to ignore the darkness in us (even by prayer or meditation or religion) Because it will only get stronger. The solution, as Justin baldoni puts it, is to live in the "higher nature" or "in the spirit". Galatians 5:16 "But I say, walk by the Spirit , and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh." But this is the crucial piece that they are missing... We can't do it on our own. I think Shawn realizes this. No one has been able to live as the good guy all the time and it's exhausting to try to find the balance. There is good news though. Someone came to kill that inner darkness, that sinful nature, that lower nature. He lived his entire life in the spirit. He never surrendered to the darkness. He gives us the power to do the same if we put our trust in Him. He literally gives us His Spirit and a promise to never leave us. He took all of our darkness, all of our sin, all of our evil and destroyed it. He can take yours too. His name is Jesus. Shawn, you are soooo close to the truth. It's crazy how God is revealing truth to your heart. I'll be praying for you 🙏🏼
Couples are always going to have conflicts. S raising his voice isn’t abusive or toxic and is quite normal, but it’s also perfectly appropriate for Camila to call out the aggressive tone and ask him to talk to her in a more constructive way. Communication is important! -
That doesn’t make C controlling or manipulative or mean she’s making him feel evil. People are already manipulating his words to pass judgment on both S and C. Normalize discussing needs and conflicts in a calm way so that both partners can learn and grow.
People need to quit acting like they don’t know how it is to be in a serious relationship and how communication is important so Camila telling him not to yell at her is exactly what to do then he knows what she doesn’t like and corrects it.
@@sylviaregino1140 exactly this. Lack of communication leads to misunderstandings and conflict. Just communicating and telling the truth can avoid so much negativity. It really has helped me all my life to communicate and I’m glad more people get it and can communicate as well :)❤️
It’s amazing to see a person especially a celebrity whose childhood he was raised to have the beliefs of an atheist, independently allow the idea of god into his life! There is just so much good that comes from god it almost makes me emotional! I hope he continues to peruse this way of thinking🙏❤️(I’m a Christian)
I just can't believe how wise he is and that's not because he's always right it's because he knows he can't be always right and is ready to accept that. He has attained more wisdom and enlightenment that I ever will.
And this is why Shawn is my inspiration. Even if he has all that privilege and success he knows what to stand for and he's always so truthful and showing his vulnerability with us, which makes me feel so much better, because sometimes I feel like show our vulnerability is bad. So the way Shawn show us that it's ok to be vulnerable, to have anxiety, to be wrong and that than someone will correct us, is so important and he really has helped me with growing up and my insecurities.
I wish more interviews to famous people would be like this one right here, about values and motivations, who they really are, they have so much experience to share with us as they are living life in an accelerated rhythm. I love watching this better than what designer made their clothes, details on their personal relationships or sexual comments. Btw I'm not a religious person, but great job people!

1:01:03 When he is talking about the detachment from the material things he says that not everybody can stop working. Man. That was straight to the point. Detachment doesn’t mean stop working but having a stronger reason to do so. It means that you’re working not because you want to have things from people but change people’s lives in a way. It means service. The point is where you put your heart on.

I am an only 20 year old man and could listen to your talk with Shawn for ages. At that time you were doing this podcast he was only two years older than me but there were so many things I was able to identify with and to learn from you guys, and also especially from Shawn. It’s so great to see that the spirit of men is shifting a little bit towards love, also self-love and honesty in our society. I think that is absolutely fantastic for everyone and I am so eager to see how the world will look like in 50 years or so, if we can let ourselves be vulnerable and honest now ❤️
Great conversation. I would love to see Camila Cabello on your podcast since she initially introduced Shawn to your book and she is so insightful. I think Liz and Camila are both incredibly strong women who can bring their own perspective to this discussion.
What I love about shawn is that he speaks from the perspective of a soul inside an American stereotypical male, but once, you understand his mind and how he thinks (through his responses to the interview questions) you start to recognize his divinity and openness to learn from others experiences ✨️
when it comes to artists, i really pay attention to who they are, not just their music, shawn mendes is someone i admire & respect because hes so real & honest and authentic and true to himself, so many people that become famous, dont always know how to be themselves anymore, some of them just change who they are to be famous, shawn is just his true self, and that to me is a true healthy role model

I don't know where to start but after seeing this podcast i felt chills on spine...i have this fear people judging me i felt like whenever people see me or acknowledge my presence they are talking about me they are judging me for my type how fat i am or how i am looking or what wearing or how even i walk. And this gave me a social anxiety and fear of people judging me. And stop me out even go out with my family and friends be alone myself and stay in my room. Even i had fear to with my family cause i was that afraid of people judging and telling what to do or not and what should look like and how behave. cause i felt shamed of my self at that point and that what am i doing is wrong and i am not getting their expectations.i am still now afraid of people judging me and metting new people. But i felt something different. Today after listening this i felt myself after so long time. I felt vulnerable and being honest to myself to let my emotions to get me. I felt like crying for hours but not single tear drop off my eyes cause somewhere inside i know this happened to me because I let it happen it happened to me because I let people judgment get me but now i feel shaken up inside and i want be honest and vulnerable person who can show her true self and do whatever she wants to and be a good person a good woman not girl who felt insecure about herself. Now i will out and tell the world who i am and be the person i am. And show the world that i can be anything i want and can do anything. And be a brave enough to be right for myself. Thank you so much for this. i just came to see shawn and got truth of my life and get know what kind of person i should be. Thank you so much for making me realise my vulnerable side and show me side i am most afraid of. I can't say enough Thank you to you guys. This is truly amazing.
29:20 Shawn is literally expressing Matthew chapter 16 verse 25, "For whoever wills to save his life will lose it and whoever will lose his life for me will find it.”
Focusing on something bigger than yourself seems to be the answer to finding life and being okay.
30:04 Shawn sees that self-righteousness (being good at being the good guy) can and usually leads to manipulative behavior. So it's not just about "being good."
Proverbs chapter 30 verse 12 "There are those who are clean in their own eyes but are not washed of their filth." (The filth being sinful nature or that "inner darkness" that everyone has.)
30:12 the lady says the solution is to get rid of the ideas of "good guy" and "bad guy" and everyone should just be themselves.
But Shawn knows the truth deep down (30:20), that there is a big piece of darkness in us, which the bible calls "sin" or "sinful nature"
30:33 the solution is not to ignore the darkness in us (even by prayer or meditation or religion) Because it will only get stronger.
The solution, as Justin baldoni puts it, is to live in the "higher nature" or "in the spirit".
Galatians 5:16 "But I say, walk by the Spirit , and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh."
But this is the crucial piece that they are missing...

Where do I find a man with Shawn’s and Justin’s mentality and maturity
so friggin true
Couples are always going to have conflicts. S raising his voice isn’t abusive or toxic and is quite normal, but it’s also perfectly appropriate for Camila to call out the aggressive tone and ask him to talk to her in a more constructive way. Communication is important! -
That doesn’t make C controlling or manipulative or mean she’s making him feel evil. People are already manipulating his words to pass judgment on both S and C. Normalize discussing needs and conflicts in a calm way so that both partners can learn and grow.
THIS!

When he is talking about the detachment from the material things he says that not everybody can stop working. Man. That was straight to the point. Detachment doesn’t mean stop working but having a stronger reason to do so. It means that you’re working not because you want to have things from people but change people’s lives in a way. It means service. The point is where you put your heart on.
