If I'm not mistaken you should have stopped when the back line was in line with the start of the right fence, not the end of the left fence?

If the stop point on your work piece is critical then yes you either need to take into account the diameter of the bit, or setup a stop mark for both the leading edge and trailing edge of the bit. In my case I knew I would cut past my stop line by the diameter of the bit which was not a concern.

I use a Keen products vaccum setup and all the shavings are sucked away while cutting , no issues or dust

Unfortunately we do not offer a dedicated 5/16-18 T-Track bit at this time, only the more popular 1/4-20 size part number 50-002

Not to my knowledge, Bits for rotary tools typically are too small in diameter.

Dremel or Bosch for the dremel once made a keyhole bit 655. I can’t find it now.

How strong is this compared with aliluminum tracks ?

Strength really depends on the wood. Obviously Aluminum will be stronger but slat-wall used in many commercial retail applications is made from MDF or particleboard and holds up without issue.

T-style bolts come in a few different sixes, you would just need to measure the shank and head of your bolts and choose the bit that will allow the shank to fit through the small diameter while still capturing the head and keeping it from spinning in the large diameter.
