Getting yelled at by Baalor after my bad "Recycle the Sunder" call during Shield and Spear haunts me to this day. I am sorry oh wise one. Please forgive me.
I’ve played about 800 hours at this point, and I’m going for a full rotation streak (so 4 in a row), and I’ve come SO close but am still on the hunt. It’s crazy what you do in the spire baalor!!
I'm also trying for A20 rotating, and the best I've done was Ironclad-Silent streak, and then hard-stuck on Defect. I've decided to practice Defect until a win, and it's been like 15 consecutive losses so far...
Timestamps for when Baalor picks up the cards in the thumbnail (Meteor Strike x2 and Capacitor x2): Capacitor #1: (59:16) (Floor 31 Shop) Capacitor #2: (1:47:56) (Act 4 Shop) Meteor Strike #1: (1:48:35) (Act 4 Shop) Meteor Strike #2: (1:51:38) (Act 4 Elite) This deck is at capacity for silliness!
When it comes to choosing powers when facing down a potential awakened one, there’s a few things to keep in mind. The first is that, once the cultists are dead, the awakened one’s base damage is not actually that high. The second one is that most powers that grant block will help more than they hurt you. Ideally, they just need to be worth 8 or more to be wortwhile. Likewise, draw powers are almost always worth it. You’ll find yourself bricking constantly if you don’t play them, so it’s better to do so, and they can make up for the increased damage by helping you consistently draw the cards you need Some other things to consider is how quickly you can kill the cultists. If you can’t do so quickly without playing certain powers, then they need to be played. Likewise, how short will the fight be overall? If a few key powers make the fight so short the bird never threatens you, never makes more than a couple attacks, then it’s probably better to use them. Even if an offensive power will not end the fight that quickly, if your damage is too lacking without it you should consider playing it just to overcome the bird’s regeneration Finally, as far as general deckbuilding, you want draw or exhaust sufficient enough to overcome the powers you won’t play, and upgrading the ones you do will help make them significantly more worth playing. A reliable nonpower-dependent block plan is also good, such as some good, upgraded block cards
you mentioned 2*Rebound+2*Madness+Top infinite combo, it also works with Rebound+Hologram+2*Madness+Top, which also beats Beat of Death 2 Haven't assemble that one, but came very close to
Almost 900hrs on STS mobile and even with save scumming streaks are tough. While I traditionally do not save scum, I have learned valuable info from doing so but I've learned even more from watching the man, the myth, the Baalorlord!
I scum quite a bit because it lets me play fast. I dont have to sit and think about a turn for 10 minutes, and if i do something that in the moment was due to not thinking it through, save scum time!! Helps me enjoy the game more and not be so hard on myself.
1:25 I actually got to A20 on all characters After about 200 hours and got my first a20 heart kill just after that and I actually streaked. I got Watcher and ironclad in a row lol. I learned a lot by first watching frost prime and now you. I think you are very good at the game you always calculate all the options available. I strive to get good like you 😊
Static Discharge slowly working it's way up in Baalor's evaluations. That floor 7 blue slaver fight I would've tanked the first round 8 and been 8 health shorter because of it.
i have about 1000 hours and i went on a 4 a20 heart winstreak with defect and 2 silent heart kills before i lost a run somewhat recently probably the most i’ve been able to streak
For me the hardest character is the silent the defect is high skill calling but for me that's a good thing the silent kinda only does play alot of cards to make a big card and iron clad almost always does good medium and big cards that can work together or by themselves. The defect can go for spam with all for one go for set up with focus/capacitor or simple meat sticks like stream line and the the orb strikes. I never feel like I'm screwed until I see my drops in each act certain bosses are way harder for both silent "time eater" and ironclad "awaked". Where defect is more based on deck than card pool as a whole.
Baalors self-imposed challenge this year is to try for a 20 streak with every character. He's been trying with Ironclad and Silent earlier in the year, and just stopped trying with Defect and started Watcher attempts (there will still be Defect runs on this channel for a bit until it catches up). You can see an overview on his streak attempts here: baalorlord.tv/streaking
if you can be successful at something then it's skill cap does not impact it's rate of success low skill floor and steep learning curve do. typically high skill cap have low skill floor and steep curve but it is not always the case. I think defect has lower floor than silent and ironclad and higher than watcher but has a steeper curve than all of them. watcher I think has the shallowest curve but if you mess up it is way more catastrophic than the other 3 hence the skill floor being lower
Are there videos available from the time when the game just came out? Would be fascinating to watch Baalor learn from scratch. Can't find anything on this channel.

Baalorlord lowkey admitting what we've all known all along, that he's actually a synthetic AI

Truly a defect moment to grab two meteor strikes on the last two floors

0:54 500 hours in (almost 600) in sts and i have the silent win streak of two; thanks to your awesome videos of course!
I have a silent streak of 2 on lower ascensions

The game is easy. Chess is way more brutal when playing even just a slight inaccuracy.

The fight is a card but the event can be anything it can even be a fight with a card and you know how much we want that.
Not sure how many hours I've put in but I've gotten to a 3 streak on Ironclad and died to the heart in the 4th run. Thanks to Baalorlord of course
Baalorlord, I would like to say how much I love your content. I feel good watching your videos and inspired to play.

Static Discharge: Imagine the thorns potion, but better.
It's just different. Thorns procs off of blocked damage as well as unblocked. Huge distinction.
What a swift trip to silly town right at the end there with the last shop and card reward.
16:21 sts board game is 10/10. It is very long though. Also gremlin leader sucks balls. Hardest fight in the game 100%!
55:18 Why on Earth not play Aggregate & Strike? Seems like there's no down-side to dish out 6 more damage?
I wondered the exact same thing

I’m like 350-400 hours range (different systems) and I have 3 A20H streak with the clad and I’m proud of that!
The only thing Watcher likes more than one card remove is two card removes.
Baalor do you lift? Looking swole in this vid 💪
2:00 defect feels like a luck-cap 😭 a18 is killing me
is baalord a defect main now or what did i miss?
