Hi Anna! Your ultimate guide to learning Spanish is incredibly comprehensive and helpful for language learners like me. I appreciate your emphasis on dialect and accent choice as it adds authenticity to the learning experience. Prioritising speaking over other skills is in line with my own language learning style. I've found that immersing myself in speaking practice has sped up my progress and increased my confidence in using the language. Your study methods and tips are invaluable. I've tried similar techniques in my language learning and they've been incredibly effective in improving fluency and coherence. Also, your recommendations for incorporating Spanish into everyday life through apps, podcasts, RUclipsrs, singers and TV shows are fantastic. Immersing yourself in authentic content is the key to mastering a language. Thank you for sharing!
This is EXACTLY how I've learned english by myself since i was 11. Now I'm 17 and i feel like I speak it very very well. If you work hard and be consistent you'll definitely learn the language!❤️
@@kpoptrash6319 you just start. Maybe a song and its lyrics and translation. You simply start without fear and hesitation. Remembering that the keys to learning are mistakes!
for music i’d recommend Carla Morrison, i’m learning spanish and i love listening to her voice because usually the songs aren’t too fast and you can really break down everything she’s saying !
hmmm i disagree i learn several languages and spanish truly is the one im struggling with because people speak soooo fasttttt (i also learn english, french, korean and i can still hear they don’t speak as fast as spanish people)
Spanish is the 2nd fastest speaking language in the world

yesss.i've been studying english during this quarantine and i used to find that you speak very quickly but i got used to and now i'm searching about "how to learn spanish/italian"(im brazilian btw)
im an english teacher and your advices are really helpful. we call this "integrative method". which is the best way of learning a language and BEING ABLE TO USE IT.
Want to become fluent in Spanish? 1° Change your phone's language to Spanish 2° Watch Movies in Spanish 3° View English classes 4° Download an Spanish application (Duolingo) 5° Do only research in Spanish 6° Make your room an Spanish place 7° Always see Spanish tips, if possible in Spanish If you do this you will be fluent in Spanish soon... Never forget "The secret of success is never giving up".
Bien is an adverb. Buen/ bueno is the adjective. If you want to say "I had a good day" you'll say "tuve un BUEN día / tuve un día BUENO". If you want to say "Today ended well", then you'll say "Este día terminó BIEN".
I can highly recommend watching live streams on twitch/youtube in Spanish. It's of course advanced Spanish, but the interaction in chat allows you to write, listen and converse at the same time, and you can get a lot of context clues from whatever activity they are streaming.
@@kirstenanderson3783 no, you of course have to understand something, but it doesn’t have to ne much. If you can read a bit and if you have some basic vocab down, yoy can infer a lot of what's being talked about by reading chat, and that in turn helps you sus out the meaning of some of the words you hear. Additionally, if you're watching something you like and are interested in (video games, news, politics) you have extra insight that helps understanding + you can develope a vocab for tge things you're interested in.
@@styles7237 It's been a while since I studied Spanish for real, but I sometimes check in on this Twitch streamer called Karim. He talks about a lot of EU politics, which means I'm familiar with the topics and can follow conversation. He also has regular youtube videos on politics, bit that's of course not everybody's cup of tea. I'd recomend you just search for topics you like in spanish, and then you should find something.
here are some podcasts: un café secreto con Carlos Ríos (self-improvement/life-management) historia con el móvil (history told by a teacher from Andalucía) filosofía de bolsillo (philosophy with a very neutral accent) materia oscura (~10 minutes episodes about different scientific topics) historias perdidas (mystery) la vida me da acidez (just a guy complaining about life, but really funny) la vida moderna (typical spanish humour) the wild project (some interviews about different topics) and some youtube channels: quantum fracture (science) jaime altozano (music) ter (architecture) monitor fantasma (philosophy) izhan (super aesthetic) ibai (just chatting streamer + some gameplays) luisito comunica (travel) dani bonilla (self-improvement) antonio garcía villarán (art) hope they're useful 💙
My go to method for new vocab and grammar is reading my favourite book in my target language while listening to the audio version. While reading i mark the words that i don't know so i can look them up after each chapter, and them i read the chapter out loud. It's a really great way to learn a language!
Keep in mind, for all language learners in general: Ask yourself why you want to learn a language. It's always important to know why you are wanting to learn as it can greatly affect how you learn and study. If you are wanting to learn a language because you are fascinated and intrigued by the culture than you'll have an easier time learning. But if you want to learn a language to be praised, a polyglot, or cool, you may not truly be interested in what your target language is and that can make it very difficult for you to study and learn. Whatever reason you have does not have to stop you, but, you must understand your desire in order to cater towards it. Recognize it's not gonna be easy, check on yourself as whole and evaluate if the energy is worth it. You do not want to burn yourself out, so take time to think about these things. Im gonna guess a good amount of you are doing this for fun, it's a thing a lot of people love to do. With that said, do not forget that it's something you are doing for fun. If it's becoming a chore and the interest/motivation is gone, then take a break to either find a new motivation or halt. Unless your reasoning is crucial that you must put up with it being difficult for when your no longer interested, there is no reason you should stress yourself out over it. It's okay to not know languages and it's okay to take breaks. Ya ain't gonna learn quickly. There is no correct time period to learn something and there are no expectations. Especially if you are just doing it for fun. Do not beat yourself up if you didn't learn it in the time you thought you should have. It takes people years to learn new languages and even longer to master it. Pace yourself and be kind because it's not an easy thing to do. If it takes you 10 years then so be it, at least you didn't end up feeling awful after pressuring yourself to do something for 2 weeks straight.
Of course, if you are pushing 70 like me then 10 years seems a bit excessive. :-) But those are good tips. I have giving myself 3 years and will re-evaluate then to see if I am making good progress and how far I think I can take my learning of Spanish.
I grew up and still live in an area where Spanish is spoken by at least 1/3 of the population here, and this number seems to be increasing. People who speak Spanish and English are more likely to be hired here as I have seen and noticed over the last 15 years. I decided it was time to try to remember what Spanish I learned in High School and build upon it, so this video is greatly appreciated. Thank you. I'm extremely rusty in what Spanish I remember and honestly I didn't do very well in Spanish class in High School lots of years ago. Thank you to all the Spanish speaking ladies and gentlemen who are so patient and helpful to those of us learning Spanish. I always feel very extremely shy and scared to speak Spanish to others. I feel I make so many mistakes and my face burns red, but thank you all for your patience with those who are learning Spanish. Any suggestions on how to not be so shy when speaking Spanish as I really want to learn Spanish, so I can use it in my community where I live. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

And I don't really listen to spanish podcasts but if I'm not wrong I think Irene has one video talking about some of her favs

As a native spanish speaker I recommend you to listen "Creativo" hosted by Roberto Martinez, they talk of aaalll kind of topics that may interest you. If you're more into music try with "Jaime altozano" or "ShaunTrack" they analyze and deconstruct music, they have top notch videos. And if you're more into science go and watch videos on "QuantumFracture" , is one of the greatest physics and science channels that deserves a look. You can always turn on subtitles. That's all I got to say, enjoy spanish.
I took Spanish in school for 5-6 years. I got pretty decent at it but have not practiced/used it since. Now in my 20s, I just thought what a waste it would be to just let all that knowledge go; I’m definitely gonna be picking it up again.
Starting to learn Spanish this week and this is one of the best and detailed videos I have seen. When learning a new language people say you need to immerse yourself in the language and sometimes it’s hard to know what that looks like. You gave great examples on how to do that. Thank you for this information.
I highly recommend watching telenovelas (soap operas) from the country you're learning the dialect from. Mostly because of the slang, I think it would be really helpful

1:33 That depends, I'm from Peru, and we call the bus "micro", but if someone talks about a bus, or a autobus, it is perfectly understood what they mean. Most Spanish speakers understand each other, even if we vary the words, or use dialects, the official word will always be there.
this is hands down and by far the BEST language learning tips video ive ever seen. every video is always someone preaching about what school they went to or how long they lived in the language's country for or what countless books and classes they took. this is real life and very simple practices and I absolutely love how you broke it down to the 4 components of every tip. some of these I definitely didn't even think about so thank you!!
i took 5 years of Spanish lessons in school from age 12-16, but I stopped because I wanted to fit some other courses into my schedule for my 11th and 12th grade of high school. Although, I still retained most of it, I was failing to remember some conjugations and vocabulary, and what REALLY helped me was listening to Selena’s music! During quarantine in December of last year, I watched the Selena movie for the first time with my mom when it was on Hulu and i was HOOKED on her life story. Soon, I began listening to her discography album by album and now I’ve actually memorized most of her songs! From choosing songs to learn, breaking down the lyrics, trying to match her pronunciation by ear, and even watching her Spanish interviews, it made learning Spanish so much more fun! I can now say that my Mexican Spanish accent has improved and I can speak much faster than before! DEFINITELY listen to Selena! Her music is so fun and there’s plenty of variety (cumbia, ballad, 80s, mariachi, etc)
Guys another small tip is listen to SPANISH songs and read the spanish dictionary & try to remember at least 5-10 words per day then the next day you write down the word and write the english meaning. Guys its VERY helpful it helped me learn english too. When you learn you UNDERSTAND so dont just learn it then forget it NO you have to remember it.
4:19 The problem with this is that, at least on Netflix, most subtitles do not match with what’s being said which may be quite demotivating and confusing for beginners. ;-;
There are a few suggestions for how to learn Spanish Decide precisely why you want to learn it Try to use Spanish in your everyday life Decide what method works for you the best. (I read about these and more from Fergs Spanish Blueprint website )
Jose David stop translating in your head Watch without subtitles please Spanish is written the same way is spoken so don't worry what you hear you write
as I native speaker I can say that the most easily thing I think is the pronunciation, because it sounds how it is written and almost never changes the sound, a thing that doesn't happen in English, because if you learn the sounds of the lyrics, you will can pronounce, and read well, and there you can start to study, because that will help you with the learning, the most difficult: the conjugations of the verbs
i just started to learn Spanish and as I'm very fluent in french ( i learned it since I was 3 year old ) they are a lot similarities so its so easy for me
The same to me, I’m a native speaker of Portuguese and I think there’s no other language so similar to Spanish like Portuguese so that’s pretty easy to me to understand and to learn Spanish
Es verdad, cuando estudias ingles u otro idioma, también es importante primero hablar y después fijarse en lo demás. Una vez que aprendes a hablar lo demás no se complica demasiado.

This is super useful Anna. At the beginning of my Spanish-learning journey here and really appreciate the effort you've put into this video. I have made detailed notes and will be using these tips for sure!
I really agree to the speaker on this video. We Filipinos were trained how to read and write in English but not trained enough to speak it. We can convey our thoughts "fluently" whenever we are writing but if a native English speaker talks to us, we find it difficult to reply back even though we understood what they are saying. I also agree to the fact that, instead of just plainly reading or writing the language that you want to learn, speak it instead. Grammar helps but in a normal conversation, we don't really follow all of the rules because they are TONS and it is ridiculous to remember each rule and apply it in a conversation.
I agree. I found out on a channel called español con juan that when you learn like this it makes the vocabulary that learn passive but when you speak it and practice it, your vocabulary will be in your active memory where you will be able to recall it to have a conversation.
Have you read español con Juan's books? He's called Juan Fernández, they're graded readers starting with Hola Lola A1 and they progress through to B2 + stories. Great books and some are really funny
When i was studying Spanish at GCSE i changed my phone's language to spanish, so my phone settings and Instagram and google was all in Spanish which really helped immerse me into the language. I can highly recommend watching live streams on twitch/youtube in Spanish. It's of course advanced Spanish, but the interaction in chat allows you to write, listen and converse at the same time, and you can get a lot of context clues from whatever activity they are streaming.
So even if I don’t understand anything I’m still learning?
@@kirstenanderson3783 no, you of course have to understand something, but it doesn’t have to ne much. If you can read a bit and if you have some basic vocab down, yoy can infer a lot of what's being talked about by reading chat, and that in turn helps you sus out the meaning of some of the words you hear. Additionally, if you're watching something you like and are interested in (video games, news, politics) you have extra insight that helps understanding + you can develope a vocab for tge things you're interested in.
do you have any recommendations?

Keep in mind, for all language learners in general:
Ask yourself why you want to learn a language.
Si
Of course, if you are pushing 70 like me then 10 years seems a bit excessive. :-) But those are good tips. I have giving myself 3 years and will re-evaluate then to see if I am making good progress and how far I think I can take my learning of Spanish.
I want to learn it to better communicate with the people around me, since their English is not so good either
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

i took 5 years of Spanish lessons in school from age 12-16, but I stopped because I wanted to fit some other courses into my schedule for my 11th and 12th grade of high school.
Her music is so fun and there’s plenty of variety (cumbia, ballad, 80s, mariachi, etc)

as I native speaker I can say that the most easily thing I think is the pronunciation, because it sounds how it is written and almost never changes the sound, a thing that doesn't happen in English, because if you learn the sounds of the lyrics, you will can pronounce, and read well, and there you can start to study, because that will help you with the learning, the most difficult: the conjugations of the verbs

Tottally! That´s true.

We use our phones everyday so it isn't actually difficult to navigate your phone once you change the language you just pick up extra vocab like settings is ajustes and stopwatch is temporizador :)
Me who did that once and got severely lost bc i had to change my password:
