Majik was Magic. Started the GB momentum going, after years of dismal seasons, where dad would swear and throw things at the TV. All of a sudden, we had hope. Sad his career was cut short, and terrible injury, but he took it in stride as Favre took over. Between him and the two other QB's we've had since then, GB has been blessed. But Majik started it all.
As a Browns fan who has been waiting on a good QB since Kosar left in ‘93, you better enjoy it!! And it’s good to see that you realize just how blessed you guys have been. It’s brutal out here where Favre’s and Rodgers don’t seem to fall from the sky. PS, I liked Baker. He coulda been something but the Front office chased him off in true Browns fashion. The Packers' lack of an offensive line from 1990 to 1992 nearly killed this guy. I still think the Packers make the playoffs in 1990 if the Packers would have given Majik his new contract in time for the season opener. And they certainly make it if Freddie Joe Nunn doesn't throw Majik on his shoulder and end his season.

Drew bledsoe getting hurt opened up an opportunity for tom Brady and he became a legend. Similar scenario with the Majik man and favre. Favre takes an open opportunity. And becomes a legend as well. Sharpe should be in the hall of fame. Terrel Davis is in and only played seven seasons, of which only the first four were really productive (i.e. over 1,000yrds. Next closest was last with 700). While Sharpe was productive consistently his entire career. Only rookie yr he had 700smthg yrds, and prob the yr of Majik's injury was his other just under 1000yrds. Also over 7yrs.

Moving from Minnesota Don reminded me of the good old days with Fran Tarkenton....still remember Don pimping the cowboy boots on TV! My son was born in '92 and I signed him up for season tickets that week....it took 31 years but he got his tickets!

The thing going in the 92 season, the Packers were already 0-2 going into the Bengals and were heading for 0-3 by the time Magik went down. So when Majik when down and Favre came in ,Favre knew he really had one last shot to prove everyone that he wasn't a bust. So when Favre came and pulled that last drive to win it, you knew that it was trouble for Majik. The sad thing is that not many people knew after winning the Steeler game Favre lost 4 out 5 games and were sitting at 3-6. Then something clicked where Favre and the Packers won 6 straight games and were heading to a must win against the Vikings. Win and they are in, but sadly the Packers lost to the Vikings. The next season the Packers were in the playoffs and won a wildcard. After that for the next years from 92 to present day 2022 the Packers have had 2 QB's, Favre and Aaron Rodgers.
Things didnt really click for Favre until probably, 1994. He was basically Bubby Brister in 1992 and 1993, a QB with a cannon for an arm and loads of potential but who was a gdamn reckless idiot.

But the fun part was back in the day there was a wild feed you got on the old 10+ ft. Satellite Dish. You could watch Don and other players talk on a open microphone as the game was being played. Always liked Majik back in the day, but unfortunately injuries happen, but it seems like he's adapted and is doing well. Nick Collins, Sterling Sharpe...two very promising careers also shortened by injury. Its a tough game.

I was 8, I'll always remember 1989 and Majk as a Packer. We didn't even make the playoffs but that was my first taste of winning Packer football. Plus this video has Jim Irwin and Max McGee!
Was an out of state fan and they would take you to game breaks. Knowing down two scores and a game break came on there was a undescribable feeling once it showed they scored.. flipping channels to see scores and even radio....great memories

1989 was the first season that the Pack had a winning record in double digits since I started following Green Bay in 1976. Remember believing that Majkowski, Sharpe, and Infante would lead the Packers to long-awaited glory. Sadly, it wasn't to be. But 1989 will always be memorable. Thanks, Magic Man!
Michael if you started following the pack in 76 those were tuff times. I started in 74. Yeah 75 , 76 , 77. They were not very good , they went through a lot of starting QB,s in that time. Seems like a different one every game.

If it wasn't for Lofton. And Middleton they would have struggled again. But Lynn that guy was good. Too bad broke his leg. Knee problems, he just wasn't Mobil. But man he could throw.

Idk about the West Coast. He was the Majik man, he threw the deep routes. Vertical offense all the way but imagine with an Edgar Bennett & Dorsey Levens in the backfield. They could pound the ball underneath & then open up the deep shots for Don.
I followed his career at UVA and then Green Bay. He led UVA to the Peach Bowl before being drafted by the Packers. He was an exciting player with the "it" factor.

I don’t think packer fans only remember him for being the guy before Favre. I remember him as being a very good quarterback. I remember him being very good improvising and throwing on the run outside the pocket. It is a shame he had that injury.
I remember being in a bar when Don Majkowski had gone down with the injury and Brett Favre replaced him. In subsequent games Favre didn't look so good, and that morning in the bar where we were watching the Packers, an argument started and a fight broke out between Packer fans. It was an eighty year old man that yelled in a drunk Packer fans face that the guy that should be the Packers QB is in Detroit.

@@photog1529 Exactly!! What's amazing was that Brady supplanted a guy in Bledsoe who was a #1 overall pick in the draft, became the face of the franchise, led his team to a Super Bowl appearance & signed a long term contract that was worth $100 million dollars. Need I say more.
The analogy is the guy who replaced the guy who NEVER missed a game. Favre owns the NFL iron man award… just like Gehrig (Call Ripking JR passed it). I was 8, I'll always remember 1989 and Majk as a Packer. We didn't even make the playoffs but that was my first taste of winning Packer football. Plus this video has Jim Irwin and Max McGee!

Was an out of state fan and they would take you to game breaks. Knowing down two scores and a game break came on there was a undescribable feeling once it showed they scored.. flipping channels to see scores and even radio....great memories

1989 was the first season that the Pack had a winning record in double digits since I started following Green Bay in 1976. Remember believing that Majkowski, Sharpe, and Infante would lead the Packers to long-awaited glory. Sadly, it wasn't to be. But 1989 will always be memorable. Thanks, Magic Man!
Michael if you started following the pack in 76 those were tuff times. I started in 74. Yeah 75 , 76 , 77. They were not very good , they went through a lot of starting QB,s in that time. Seems like a different one every game.
@@kylemarzion2814 Lynn Dickey was QB for most of those early seasons that I followed them. When he broke his leg, Dave Whitehurst filled in. 1978 saw the Pack go 8-7-1, actually tying for 1st place in the NFC Central, only to lose the division championship to the Vikings in a tie-breaking rule.
@@michaellong3836 between dickey getting hurt and Whitehurst. They went through a bunch of backup trash. Including hadel disaster , Whitehurst didn't start until 78. He had 1 good year. If it wasn't for Lofton. And Middleton they would have struggled again. But Lynn that guy was good. Too bad broke his leg. Knee problems, he just wasn't Mobil. But man he could throw.
In one of those highlights at 1:25 Majik throws a pass and it's against the New Orleans Saints. The game must have been at Lambeau, but the Packers are wearing their road whites uniforms. Strange....

Unbelievable QB with great vision, a strong arm, and a set of wheels. He was my favorite player as a boy. I really think he would have been an awesome fit in the West Coast offense.
Idk about the West Coast. He was the Majik man, he threw the deep routes. Vertical offense all the way but imagine with an Edgar Bennett & Dorsey Levens in the backfield. They could pound the ball underneath & then open up the deep shots for Don.

I followed his career at UVA and then Green Bay. He led UVA to the Peach Bowl before being drafted by the Packers. He was an exciting player with the "it" factor.
No, I remember he gave me hope that the Packers wouldn't be doormats forever. His seasons with the Pack are some of my favorite because for the first time I was experiencing joy watching the Packers.

I don’t think packer fans only remember him for being the guy before Favre. I remember him as being a very good quarterback. I remember him being very good improvising and throwing on the run outside the pocket. It is a shame he had that injury.
I remember being in a bar when Don Majkowski had gone down with the injury and Brett Favre replaced him. In subsequent games Favre didn't look so good, and that morning in the bar where we were watching the Packers, an argument started and a fight broke out between Packer fans. It was an eighty year old man that yelled in a drunk Packer fans face that the guy that should be the Packers QB is in Detroit.
