@@limitededition328 The fight game has always been dog eat dog...that's the essence of why it is call the 'fight' game. Respect and Humility does not equate to weakness. It equates to a spiritual or emotional maturity. To stay calm in the face of danger or attack, allows one to fully realise the potential of each situation. As apposed to becoming stressed, egotistical and emotional...which inhibits the mind and as a result, the full potential of the body. The foundation of humility is control of ones thoughts and the foundation of respect is being aware of your surroundings and appreciating both, the potential for innocence and and deadly violence which exists within each surrounding you encounter. Whether you choose to adopt this ideology, or not, is of no consequence to anyone. I'm just putting it out there.

To me you're the original "bad guy". As eluded to in some of the comments. Im still amazed at how good you were at it all the while you were and still are a really cool, kind hearted and decent guy.
I admire Chael Sonnen and intentionally looked up his opinion on Bas Rutten (both men are a legend, but of a different era....like watching football and trying to compare Joe Montana, Steve Young and Jimmy G as if they were all playing today) and I love the video! The mutal respect is amazing! Also, quick side point, when I was in my young to mid twenties, I knew deep down that "I have a ton of heart, a high pain tolerance, a love for fighting and that I'm strong"...... and as I would drive by Team Quest on my way to work from Tualatin to Hillsboro..... and, again, deep down I knew "if I walked in there, they would gladly teach me to fight if I wanted to.....but I dont have what it takes to be a champion." I just dont. maybe I did and it needed to be cultivated, but I would watch athletes at Team Quest working out everytime I drove by.....if I was opening the store, if I was closing the store.....lights were always on in there. It was awe inspiring and I wanted SO badly to walk in and give it a go. I didnt, however, but not because I was scared or thought I would be rejected (I knew the trainers there wanted to train, not belittle people for wanting to learn. they didnt expect everyone to be a champion, but they would expect determination. great people) ..... it's odd but I felt like me going in there to train would be me wasting the time and energy of real champions.
That's Epic!! Ithink he could even be a better heel manager...with a whole new take on the Invasion angle...where he runs a stable of MMA background dudes and chicks..pull Rowdy Rousey in...get Angle on some Mentor angle..go after every belt! It would be golden!
Well explained Chael!!! "No good deed goes unpunished..." Which according to Wikipedia is a commentary on the frequency with which acts of kindness backfire on those who offer them. Not for ONE second believed Bas screwed the Fighters over personally, or was in on any type of scam. So glad he has shown proof, has done these recent interviews with all the details and facts. Now the same haters... CRICKETS.
Good for you backing Bas Chael and telling it like it is.
I legit went back to go back and watch Here Comes the Boom for Uncle Chaels appearance, I forgot how great that film was and Bas Rutten is a fucking amazing human being, thank you for making me rewatch that absolute gem of a film, legit popped when your scene cane up dude!
Sees a new 20 min Chael clip
- busts 🥜 immediately
But where does your other nut sits into this🥜
Dammit , that was 20 minutes
Great I'm late to training
" I too was hustled, scammed, bamboozled, hood winked, lead astray!!!" --Bas Rutten
I was an athlete in my youth and I like to watch great athletes do amazing things. But I am not a "fan" and I find sports as an entertaining thing to watch a hit or miss thing. I find shows and talking heads going on and on about sports to be a ridiculous way to distract from life's demands. After all of that , I have found myself listening to you once I click across the pieces that utube throws at me. You are the most interesting and we'll spoken commentator, not just in the sports world, but any arena of interest on the internet. No ums and ahs, no twisted logic, no words you mispronounce or don't know the meaning of, no dull bullshit filler. You have an amazing gift to communicate. Think bigger and change the world. You can write your own ticket if you want to address the rest of the things in our world that you know and care about. Your talent as a communicator exceeds your one in 100 million talent as a fighter.
dude i hope you talk to your lover the same way!
You know I went to the same team quest as chael for years and I've never actually met him lol. Dude is actually kinda quiet and keeps to himself.
Brendan Schaub said that when they were training together, Chael would never say a bad word about someone when other guys were talking shit. People would talk mad smack about other people behind their backs who were training at that gym, but Chael never did. That alone tells you the kinda guy Chael is. Fucking national treasure, this guy.
Chael's raw honesty, even when it's unsavory things he reveals about himself and his past, is very fucking cool. I'd trust him with my wife and my wallet.
Coming from the deep south I have to say I might leave you with my wife but never my wallet
My wife is ugly as hell boi

Bas 'el guapo'
Chael's absolutely right. Ive seen a situation like this before personally. Its also pretty common to look to anyone you can reach when it comes to ppl trying to get money they are owed. Ppl get angry and have no where to focus it. Then here comes Bas being honest and vocal, so ppl are turning their anger to him. Hopefully he can see that.
Good break down. Respect in Martial Arts is real, just like it is in life. 🙏🏻🥋
Bas was so passionate and excited about that organization. I feel bad for all involved. Thanks Chael, you are a good friend.
Actually, all martial arts schools that I attended taught ✊ respect and humility. Nothing Hollywood about it. But continue with your story...
Respect and humility doesn't keep the fist out of your face. The fight game now day's is dog eat dog.
@@maximillianalexander7052 you are correct sir. What I meant by dog eat dog was, if you don't continue to win in MMA, the organization gets rid of you. Your philosophy is spot on.
@@maximillianalexander7052 martial arts are a playing game not a fight game imo
Everybody knows what does happen , nobody knows what doesnt . Its good to see someone using their pulpit to point that out for a change . Nice job Chael . From across the river homeboy at trails end . Go Pioneers .
As el guapo would say. " Kick em in the pills".
Anthony Williams 🤣
Dang a gadang

To me you're the original "bad guy". As eluded to in some of the comments. Im still amazed at how good you were at it all the while you were and still are a really cool, kind hearted and decent guy.
I really like Bas hopefully he does more research in the future.
Much respect Chael, no one could have said it better!
Wish Bas all the best, sad to hear these stories about a legend I admire
where can i get one of those t-shirts?????
Great story and a good take on the situation. I really enjoyed listening to it.
Chael dam this was a good video. I really feel for Bas on this. Sad but corruption happens all the time in combat sports.
That's Epic!! Ithink he could even be a better heel manager...with a whole new take on the Invasion angle...where he runs a stable of MMA background dudes and chicks..pull Rowdy Rousey in...get Angle on some Mentor angle..go after every belt! It would be golden!
One of the greatest videos on RUclips of any category. Listening to one legend defend another legend? Sold. Count me in.
Well explained Chael!!!
"No good deed goes unpunished..."
Which according to Wikipedia is a commentary on the frequency with which acts of kindness backfire on those who offer them. In other words, those who help others are doomed to suffer as a result of THEIR being helpful...
Bas is a legend and a hero.
Even in the era of the 1 hour news cycle, the "casuals" and the keyboard warriors, there is still a requirement for a REAL man.
From what you've described, and from what I have read and heard from OTHER sources, (like your good self I am consumed by ALL things MIXED MARTIAL ARTS journalism, podcasts & general social media....
Bas was "SOCIALLY HACKED"
His good nature was COMPLETELY taken advantage of.
I believe that ALL followers of combat sport, should propagate Mr Sonnen's description of "The Bas situation"
(Chael's NOT always the BAD guy, he is ONLY Colby Covington's REAL FATHER !😉, (JOKING MOFOS!!!)
I believe WE should show the legend that is Bas, that we ALL have HIS BACK too...
Let's show solidarity in OUR sport, forget about the Entertainment era or Hollywood pretentiousness, don't let ONE of OUR own get fucked over...
Let's just get the word out there...
Please share video...
Thanks again Chael
Lennox Lewis said, "I never waste my time fighting nobodies. I need to fight bigger names than me so I can steal their glory." Amen...appreciate the honesty Chael.
I think you are underestimating your wrestling sir. Thanks for yet another great video!
Thanks for sticking up for Bas Rutten! you are the best "BAD GUY"in the business!!!
Love your cast!!!
Damn this is real shit, we love you Chael for explaining this
Is it just me or does Chael look like he never aged since his beginning ufc days lol. He literally looks almost exactly the same
God I love chael. The bloke can tell a yarn 😁.
Also, if ever I get in trouble with the law, I'm having him as my lawyer
loved the content. lots of heart in it
Chael is said to be the only man alive that’s able to measure backward steps in feet squared
The man with the biggest guns in the 🌎. Bas was lucky uncle chael didn't get his ✋ on him
Woow i noticed that too!!
But Still didn't helped him agents silva😅..

@@ghostofsparta6579 Silva tapped in the 5th round and Chael demanded and apology. That made the ref mistake Chael's voice as a verbal tap wich made him stop the fight. True story. This really happened.

Never heard Chael being so respectful to anyone. Well at least anyone else than Randy Couture and Neil Melanson. Thank you for sharing this story.
Uncle Chael, Love the commentary on the last Eagle FC, I haven't laughed so hard in a while when you said" Where did the second mic come from?!"
The honour and respect goes much deeper than "Hollywood". It's part of bushido.
