I had no idea there was footage of this concert! I’ve had the CD all these tears. It’s a lot to say since they had so many amazing concerts, but this is one of their absolute best takes on this 😦 Even that first solo chorus sounds like a transcription…and he’s just getting started. The whole concert was (again) killer - ”It Could Happen To You”, ”Summer Night”…
I just saw Keith Jarrett and the trio on DEC 1 at the NJPAC in Newark NJ. This was the only us show in 2012. This is the 5th time I have seen the trio and the best one. simply Amazing. Jarrett is in top form. Three encoress including Straight no Chaser. Amazing !11
I just love the way that Kieth can strecht musical time - FAR BEYOND SWING - He is simply making this standard - a non-standard. Few people can pull that off
Bill Evans is my favorite by far but Jarret is up there with the best for sure, I mean it's like comparing Gehrig, Dimaggio, Ruth, Mantle etc... In fact Bill Evans is one of Jarret's major influences not to my surprise! Can't Knock Jarret I mean he is great and great is great!
Musicians can listen "through" inferior audio to content. I'm surprised this isn't the most recorded standard of all time ("Body and Soul" is). The most perfect "Autumn Leaves" I've heard is Bill Evans with LaFaro ("Portrait in Jazz"--ishowing right now on my youtube page). Still, Bill's later recordings on Verve (RVG engineering) and the recent discovery ("Live at Art d'Lugoff's Top of the Gate") do a disservice to his personal touch and the sound of the piano. RVG is great for horns.
Sometimes ~ when the 'content' is as fabulous as it is here in this video, the 'quality' of audio/video can become quite irrelevant. At least in my opinion. Don't you think you are missing out on the actual 'treat' we have been given here?
Wonderful solo but not one oz of a steady tempo, as usual... Plus the greatest hole of all Music history ! Everybody completely lost and stop ! Incredible...
you've had 4 years. have you figured out that you have to take some lessons or buy a book, listen and then practice to learn those left hand voicings? nobody is going to spell them out for you here. lol. the answer by the way is "all the left hand voicings possible", block chords, skeletal bud powell 7th chords. 10ths, 4th chords, non-standard chord fragments and clusters... "Mark Levine -Jazz Piano". it's all there.
Keith Jarrett loses the beat way too easily given the lavish praise that everybody seems so eager to heap on him..... Are people listening?? He has a fantastic right hand, but my god, as Billy Taylor said, "no matter what, it has to swing". Jarrett would do us all a favor by listening to the man...

listening to musicians of such gifts is shattering. i can never be one of them. i will always be in the bleachers while they hold forth on the stage.
+geo lin start practicing. now. You're already five months behind since you said that. practice til your fingers bleed, then practice some more.
Amazing melodic and rhythmic sense. A genius no question.
Not to mention his harmonic genious! Also here in the second chorus... so blown away. 🤯

A great version of this by Hampton Hawes:-ruclips.net/video/_NEJoXXGfjI/видео.htmlsi=iDi5Hz3q3FDfLY-G
Type in "Hampton Hawes-Hamp's Piano(Side A)". Final track is Autumn Leaves-best version I've heard.
My grandmother says she prefers the version she heard at the hotel lounge. Says this one is all noise and she can’t hear the song.
different era ig.. this is breathtaking .
