You can't realy do a word for word translation of a swedish composition word it just sound strange in english, it should be something like tracked armored mortar system. Granatkastare in english is mortar, pansarbandvagn has no direct translation to english becuse they don't have one word describing armoured vehicles on tracks vs armoured vehicles on wheels, they group vehicles after their roles instead like IFV/MBT and such, CV90 in sweden is both a pansarbandvagn and stridsfordon (stridsfordon = Combat vehicle) so it should realy be armoured mortar system in english. But BAE have chosen to call it CV90 mounted mortar system in english.

And technically when you have a specific thing you're talking about, without using adjectives, that's one word. So in English we put spaces inside words, if those words consist of multiple words. Many languages just don't do that. The name isn't complex, this is just a difference between languages.
I've studied out of auto loading mechanisms and let me tell you that's a really really interesting one to say the least. In my eyes that looks very effective too, now there is the risk of mechanical failure but if BJORN is included then we have no reason to fear of mechanical failure failure is not an option to bjorn

The whole selling point of this system is that it's considerably faster in deploying (FMV claims 5x faster), while being more protected from counter battery fire at all times. In addition you have the networked targeting system, where its considerably faster to aim vs a manual tube.
Very Sweden-specific weapon, with questionable usability in other terrains and more taxing logistics than a regular 120-mm mortar truck. But again, it's for Swedish specifics.
The Netherlands have bought them as well, a rather different terrain It more depends on you operational doctrine if this suits you or not but an armored all terrain vehicle that can supply indirect fire capability to support mechanized battalions has to have its uses, especially if you already have the logistics for maintaining the CV90 platform in place.

And this offers the framework that has proven to be the best light support systems on the battlefield this far the 90 has less breakdowns and disadvantages then all the other platforms including the Bradley. This is a very smart system with targeting calculator etc. And also protects the crew much better than other systems. You don’t have to leave when firering and can also be mobile.

MRSI and personel requirements. One Mjölner has half the crew of a single towed mortar and almost three times the effective firepower. It also keeps up with the IFVs and MBTs on the march, shares all the most hard wearing parts with the IFVs that has the same chassi and drive train. It can recive and process fire missions while on the move while tracking it's own exact position at all times in the same vehicle as the firing element so that there is no delay of checking and hand feeding manually computed positioning data and aligning each piece before loading and firing, which takes down deployment time from on the march to first salvo away to ~35s from 5 minutes for a towed mortar platoon.
It's not because of lack of accuracy really. The point is to be able to land multiple mortar shots on the same target in about a minute or even under and then drive off before being spotted. If this system works similar to the AMOS/NEMO, it probably has the capability to fire the rounds in a way where they all hit the target at the same time.

Have killed: None so far. Brand new system that has been in service for less then 24 months now, and as far as I know only in Sweden. And we are not at war atm.
