      It is a phenomenal bait - I just think a ned rig or other baits get bit a little better sometimes. A tube just catches giants

    Great vidéo! Love dragging tubes on the St Laurence... the strike King coffee tubes in magic Goby and chaos is the shit 👍🏻
    I Also prefer having braid to fluo because when we drag in deep water, sensivity and hook sets are better 😉

      Thanks Danny! Yes, Magic Goby is the DEALLLL! I think that's where I'm going to be at as well with the fluorocarbon discussion. If I try to fish deep with the tube (15+) on spinning gear, I'm going to lose feel and have a braid/fluoro setup ready to go

    Besides our great lakes here in New York, its tough to fish a tube in our finger lakes because of how long grass is in. Granted you can go weedless but there are more effective applications at that point but I may give a flipping tube a chance this summer.

    If you decide that you don't like the flouro on your spinning rod, I would suggest trying a good Copolymer line on your tube rod. I use braid to flouro on all my spinning combos except my tube rod and my spybait rod, and on both of those, I use 6 or 8 pound Copoly!

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  4 года назад +1

    Awesome man !! Now all that is left is pit some time on the water with it and gain some confidence . I am aurprised no smoke purple color . Most other vids I have seen they like a color like that . So you never T Rig a tube ? I picked up a bunch of different jig heads this last winter . Just have to grab some of the larger heads for summer . We have had bad wind and it snowed here today and last Friday . The fish are a little confused right niw to say the least Our water is super muddy because of the 2 days of 70mph wind as well. Hope all is well and look forward to the next one .

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  4 года назад

      Yes - no doubt my man! I actually really like smoke/purple/chartreuse flake dropshot baits, but for a tube I have far more success on those light melon colors (watermelon, cucumber, purple or gold flake). For me they do a better job of imitating a variety of baitfish and it's probably just a confidence thing, but I feel like I get more bites!

      @@brnowak_fishing Maybe I'm childish but I just notice the oddest things that are hilarious to me. Benji is a legit nickname though, Ruddles or Puddles would be good for him. Benji is better than my nickname, Bung, because my middle name is Pang-Chiang... I got screwed, my older sister is Ann and I got Pang-Chiang. I've actually never been off the banks on Lake Michigan, it's pretty gnarly though since it's essentially a sea... crazy how high the water is right now.

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  4 года назад

      I've heard that too - I know of some dudes that absolutely swear that it's the next "secret bait" like the wobble head that people always have tied on now. I personally have struggled with it. I've lost a lot of fish - and I'm not sure why that's happening. I'm hoping to dedicate some time to it, but so far I've been more frustrated with it than I have had success

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  4 года назад +1

      F D hey! I’m using a 3.5” tube almost all of the time. The only time I use a smaller tube is if I choose to bed fish with it because it increases the chance that the fish is going to bite the hook rather than just grab ahold of the tentacles
      Thanks for checking the vids!!!

      I'll fish the 3/4 from 15 to about 20/25fow. If I really want that bait to fall fast and the waves are bad, I'll go to the 1oz 20+ fow

    Do u ever trim the end of the tube like the Skirt. Sometimes they are really long. Have you found that sometimes the want a shorter skirt?

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  4 года назад

      I absolutely do. I typically will cut just the very end off when I rig it up to make sure that all of the tentacles are cut. When I'm bed fishing though, if I'm using a tube, I cut the tails so they're about 1/4-1/2 inch long. This helps prevent the fish from grabbing the tails and moving the bait rather than the hook!

      I've fished it a couple of times. It is a unique tube rig that catches a lot of fish, particularly largemouth in really shallow grassy areas. In those situations, it's the deal. For smallmouth though, I'm almost always using an open jig hook - I just downsize jig head if I'm fishing really shallow water!
