  • How to fish a plastic tube bait for huge smallmouth bass.
    In this video I talk all about a proven technique that puts big bass in the boat on a consistent basis. Fishing a plastic tube is the real deal and it is one my favorite ways to fish for bass. I have caught good largemouths and smallmouths with tubes and you can flip, punch, drop shot, drag, cast and skip tubes. They are a very versatile lure that can be used in so many different situations. They often are used to mimic crayfish and smallies can't resist them. Tubes are also great at mimicking baitfish such as perch or shad and you can catch fish all the way on the bottom to just below the surface with tubes.
    I'll go through a few tips on how I like to fish a tube, along with the colors that I like and the brands I currently use. I'll will also show you what rod and reel combos I like to use for using a tube.
    I hope these tips will help you out and encourage you to pick up the tube bait more often and give it a try on your next fishing trip.
    Get the same kind of tubes I use here www.getbitbaits.com/
    Watch the first trial video of Bass Fishing with Tubes.......It turned into a blooper and outtakes video instead!

    Who is SmallmouthCrush?
    Travis Manson was born and raised where the giant Smallmouth Bass of the north live...WISCONSIN. He started fishing from the bank as at a young age and spent most of his childhood with a rod in his hand. Travis is primarily a self-taught angler that is always learning and experiencing this amazing sport of fishing. He started out fishing for walleyes and fishing in local walleye tournaments, but then in his mid 20's, he caught the BASS BUG and has been hooked every since. He competed at the highest level in bass fishing on the Bassmaster Elite series for a number of years, until he ran out of $$ money $$. This led to a move across the country to the Northeast where he got things right again and is back on track, but now on his own terms. Perhaps he will make another run at the Elite Series if the opportunity allows. In the meantime, he is a fishing guide offering trips on the Chesapeake Bay for largemouth bass(year round), guided trips for smallmouth back in Wisconsin (during select times) and trophy smallmouth bass guided trips in Upstate New York (May-November) His youtube Channel is named after his passion for the smallmouth bass and will be used as a platform for "how-to" videos, on the water instruction, crazy on and off the water topics and vlogs on the day in the life of a fishing addict! Hope you enjoy!

    Good video Travis! Do you ever Texas rig tubes? Or use skip gap hooks? When you are throwing heavier than 1/2oz how does your set up change?

    • @SmallmouthCrush
      @SmallmouthCrush  7 лет назад +2

      Yes I do, but mostly for Largemouth Bass when I am flipping. I have used Skip Gap hooks but not too much anymore. If I am throwing a heavier then 1/2 ounce with a tube insert for smallmouth I keep it the same on the medium size spinning rod. I dont use 1/2 ounce or larger a whole lot and only in specific situations mostly the larger rivers with deep water like St Clair River, Detroit, or St Lawrence and that is only during specific patterns. IF I fished a heavy tube more consistent then I would probably want to get a med/heavy spinning rod which would make handling those larger weights a bit easier, but I can get by with what I have for now.

    • @SmallmouthCrush
      @SmallmouthCrush  5 лет назад

      I really dont use wire guards....just never needed them where I fish. I do get hung but often times I can pop it loose pretty good without breaking. I have used them around wood though and a weed guard works great for having an exposed hook around wood.
