    Mistakes were made:
1- Alien tokens behind an alien model add +1 to defence rolls when attacking a player for each token.
2- When you move into an adjacent square of an alien model, you must end your movement.
3- As I have two hero characters, I should be drawing 4 motion tracker cards
4- You don't look at cards you exhaust
    5 - You don't discard revealed cards
6 - When grunts take a rest action, they only recycle three cards
7 - Doors are only open when a character is adjacent to them
    8 - You can’t see/shoot through closed doors
9 - Can’t move through walls when moving diagonally
10 - Weapons with the Full Auto ability enable you to keep attacking as long as your previous attack hit.

Thanks for the vid! A rule goof, if I'm reading the rulebook correctly: your Hero can only activate the number of grunts of its rank (pg 19, Rule 6). Hudson can only activate 1 grunt/turn and RIpley none, because she's not a Marine.

    Hey nice game.
Some rule clarifications, you don't look at cards you exhaust, so you shouldn't of resolved those first two hazards.
Step seven of the marine phase tells you to activate all the the remaining grunts after the last player activates.
You wouldn't have drawn that last card with Hudson as he is off the table, and no longer in play.
    You don't discard revealed cards.
You didn't use/forget the full auto rule on pulse rifles and smart guns, I think you would have done alot better if you used it.
Someone else pointed out the other issues, but other then those minor issues you did well and the video turned out good.
I think the benefit of moving through aliens was ballanced by not using the full auto rules.

    • @DieRollin
      @DieRollin  3 года назад +1

Thanks for the clarification, I’ve looked over the rules again and can see I had made a mistake with how I revealed instead of exhausted cards! Also, I will use that full auto rule next time! Cheers for watching and commenting :)

@@andrewhaught758 Are you surprised how many rules are missed in the play thru videos especially by gaming channels? I haven't seen one yet that gets them correct. Many are fundamental. Granted it's not easy taping, talking, playing a game in one take that one just got and were anxious to upload a video no doubt. Especially solo. I can't do it in one take. I don't make money on my videos anymore so it's not worth it lol
There's a lot of FAQ on BGG you resolved some of them. It seems rulebooks are difficult to write within an alotted number of pages and economy of words. One issue may be that some rules players try to read between the lines or think of it the way they would have designed it or what makes sense to them. There's others that well if it doesn't say it that means it doesn't apply. Other that don't RTFRB (guilty) lol It helps a lot pre-purchase to download the pdf's. The one that didn't make complete sense to me are the white lines around the doors not blocking LOS but the thin black line wall that goes up to it does. Or maybe I read the pdf rules wrong lol
There's a lot of games on BGG with FAQ. Some games where the rules are just not well written or there's a ton of errata. (I'm looking at you Wizkids D&D board games). It's nice to see yourself and other designers stopping by BGG and RUclips.
I look forward to getting the game. Not looking forward to buying equipment & glue to piece the mini models together. Good that BGG modelers have given direction what to buy.
It sounds like the two expansions are needed to really enjoy the game. That's not a bad model so-to-speak to release it with expansions at the same time.
With all the Fox legal (but this is a game that definitley needed the movie stills) did you ever think it would get published?! It's interesting I saw the card that says Get Away from Her you bitch but the box can't. Fox is owned by D*sney lol

A couple of points not covered by other comments. When grunts take a rest action, they only recycle three cards. They don't draw two (can't have cards in hand, as you said). @Die Rollin' We just finished playing mission 1 for the first time and we have documented our progress for the next mission. My hero character Vasquez drew two hazard cards during the mission that had to be "placed on" vasquez. They remained on Vasquez for the remainder of the mission, but as we cleared the table, we wondered if those two hazard cards stay with Vasquez even during mission 2. Do they? Or can we discard those hazards when mission 2 starts? Or do we have to shuffle them into the endurance deck at the start of mission 2? The rulebook is unclear and I could not find an answer on the FAQ...

32:45 I have a question. Do aliens that spawn at a spawn point right next to a character attack that character (so you have to roll a defense roll)? Or do they not attack before a new alien phase starts? You did not do a defense roll, so I assume it is the latter? The rulebook is not clear on that.

Question on your solo play, you were running two heroes. Is that option for a solo play or just the approach you took for this video to emulate two players ? My understanding is one player -> one hero.
As for your question about grunts, running with less players means you need to lean on a higher rank hero if you want to activate them which lead me to play as Gorman. It was a rough go with only one hero and 3 grunts per turn, I lost a lot of damage output. I think one of the expansion options allows you to act as if you had a certain rank to give civilians that, might have been an experience card.
One of the big questions I keep seeing is "how many times can a grunt be activated per turn?" I blew past this in the book, heroes and grunts are still characters and characters are limited to one activation per turn barring any special ability like Gorman's or event cards.

    • @DieRollin
      @DieRollin  3 года назад +1

Thanks for watching Nicholas, I was trying to emulate 2 players but probably should have been drawing double spawn cards (4 in total)
I didn’t see anything in the rules stating you had to activate different grunts but assumed each grunt only has 2 actions in a turn, so you couldn’t activate the same grunt twice in a turn.

    • @MentatOfDune
      @MentatOfDune 3 года назад +2

@@DieRollin Yeah, you can't activate each Grunt more than once. Pg19 Step 6 says "The number of Grunts they can activate is based on their rank". It mentions the number of Grunts (models) to activate not how many 'Grunt Activations' you get iykwim. This is essentially a bonus to compliment that players turn. Then after all players have had their turn the player with the highest rank activates the remaining grunts (Step 7, pg 19).
Yeah, each character (hero + grunts) gets 2 actions.

some rule goofs I noticed (writing this as I watch).
    1. Vasquez can't take grenades because the smart gun is bulky and doesn't let you equip backup weapons. (Oh, you noticed it later!)
    2. Any remaining Grunt activates at after every Hero has finished their activation.
    3. at 17:10 Ripley wouldn't reveal the two Aliens because you moved her diagonally and therefore was never adjacent to the door. Doors only open when a model is adjacent, and close again if it moves away. (Also I think Acid blood is in the Get away from her, you B***H expansion.)
    4. You don't get to look at cards you exhaust :)
    5. Since you don't look at cards you exhaust the treachery would not have happened at 34:20.
    6. Not sure if rules goof, but Hicks could have kept firing at the Aliens at 39:32
    7. after you reveal a card, you put it at the bottom of the endurance deck. (unless you get to keep it or something else happens, like a treachery)
8.Vasquez could have kept firing at 41:26 when taking defensive fire (because her gun har full auto or w/e it's called)
9.This is me being picky, but Vas' would teeechnically get up at the beginning of the Alien phase, unless adjacent to Alien/s (luckily she wasn't!). Just a minor detail, as the Aliens capture anyone who is downed at the start of their turn.
    10. Alien swarms gain a +1 bonus on their attack for each Alien in the 'stack'... or is that +1 on your defense roll. which sounds good but isn't xD
    11. at 49:50 you added 4 aliens instead of 3 by mistake. I have a feeling I'll also do this by accident every now and then!
    12. You stop as soon as your move gets you adjacent to an Alien. But I do believe you could just spend your next action to move again :P
I read a quite extensive Rules question thread on BGG before I played, my own number one rules goof was nr.10 in my list above (I'm sure my Marines didn't mind though!).
I would recommend the Ultimate badasses expansion for the class cards and more playable characters :D

When Frost attacked with the flamethrower at 39:50, you stated he rolled 2- 6's. Actually you rolled a 6 and a 9...so one of those 4 aliens should of survived the flamer attack. Also at 45:40 ripley moved diagonoly which I believe is illegal. Because of the corner of the door graphic she has to go forward 1 and then could go up and around...When you moved Hicks at 52:45, he must stop when he moves adacent to an alien. When you moved Vasquez a bit later she ignored the adjacent aliens as well...much like Hicks movement she should have stopped when she moved adjacent.

At 17mins15secs you revealed the alien blip, since no one was adjacent to the door it would be closed and the blip not revealed. PS. Nice paint jobs. At about 18mins Vasquez is shooting through a closed door, plus the smart gun has full auto. At about 12m18s since Newt is now activated shouldn't the blip in the room be revealed? At about 32mins even though you are playing solo, there are 2 characters in play, doesn't that mean you should draw 4 motion tracker cards? Also shouldn't the alien swarm that was spawned have immediately have been able to attack? At 33m30s Newt moved diagonally through a non adjacent square? At 34m20s I think this might have been mentioned before but exhausting cards are just moved and not revealed. At 37m I would argue that Ripley is 3 squares away since the diagonals across the door are not adjacent (bottom left pic of p22 of the rulebook concerning shortest distance). At 48m Vasquez should also be able to defence fire since she is within 4 squares (plus you keep forgetting Full Auto). At 51m ish turn dial is of no use after turn 3 plus you have to stop moving when coming into contact with an Alien after this I lose the will to live since there are so many mistakes.

Nice play thru. There will allways will be a couple mistakes. It's difficult to explain it and play it with a camera in a single take. One other you missed was you rolled a 6 and an upside down 9 but you said two 6's. I don't think it mattered. Good thing you did' tkill Hicks at the beginning that would have thematically been disspointing to the point I would have houseruled a penalty of discards equaling his defense instead lol but the fact that people are pointing out oversights means they're actually watching it which is a good thing.

Thanks for the kind remakes and thanks for watching. I’ve filmed the rescue mission now and using what I learnt in this it’s a lot more fun :) Bug Hunt will be up this week :)

Not for public ridicule, but for information. There's almost a mistake every activation.

Yes, in future playthroughs you have been getting better with the rules, and self correcting where you note mistakes. My comment is not intended to be critical, just informational. Thank you for putting out these videos, and those pieces look pretty amazing.

Looking how you play I have no idea how many steps one person can make. Absolutely confusing: 4, 6, +2, +4???? Totally chaos in a video. hudson moved 10 fields and that's ok???
