@@BrendanExplores Congratulations on starting your channel, you are going to have a blast. And luckily, there are so many things to do in the UK, you do a lot of travel videos in your own back yard. Cheers!
Thank you very much indeed! I’ve had a fascination for the Florida Keys after this adoptee, 45 years later, discovered my birth mother lived and grew up there.
This video made me smile. I love the whole Florida keys. Every time I go, I try something different. Whether itd be another place to eat and or drink or water adventures. Giving different businesses a chance. I don’t have a favorite. Except maybe blue heaven for breakfast.
When you make a Mojito is best to put the leaves in your hands about 10 per drink and you gently clap your hands with the leaves a place in cup and top with ice and alcohol, lime and give a gentle stir and top with club soda and serve
I’ve watch like 10 blogs about the keys today trying to see what I should do. This was the best one by far, love the energy and love how the video wasn’t just showing you eating food and talking about things that has nothing to do with the keys. I will be subscribing to this channel thanks again
Thank you so much for making this video! This is extremely helpful. I'm going solo and have no clue where to go/what to do. You helped me plan a big part of my trip.
A Cuban-American icon, The San Carlos Institute located at 516 Duval Street in the heart of Key West is MUST SEE and is awesome for history! Now a FREE museum (they accept donations and I always donate), it’s a great find and arguably one of the most beautiful buildings in Key West. Cuba has a lot of tied history with the USA, especially in Key West. Here you will see artifacts, art, documents, and other historical Cuban and Cuban American pieces. Devote about 30 mins to an hour and you won’t regret it.
Yes, I said it wrong at the time, but I can't go back and say it again. Nobody is perfect and it's not like I have a film crew there to help me out when there is a blip. I think you knew what I meant. Have you ever pronounced something wrong in your lifetime? Or maybe you are just perfect?
vince sanin I’m sorry but I’m born and raised here in key west and watching someone that can’t even pronounce the names of certain keys isle-a-more -ida Not Esmoralda and can’t pronounce the word CONCH (konk) Duval Street is pronounced Due-v-ALL. promoting and NOT even from here is always mind boggling to me. Hang with true key west people and see what good food and back country fishing or just anchor up to one of key west’s best swimming and chilling from your boats drinking beer and cooking on the boats and all sharing music and good old key west days. Snipes point. About 30-45 minute boat ride and water is STILL pristine and nothing but sandy bottom. @@kccurrie1681 Sorry that you feel that way. From what I understood from our train guide, Key West was always trying to be a destination for people to live as well as bringing tourists. The railroad built by Mr. Flagler, I thought was to bring commerce and vacationers. I'll admit, it is kind of "trappy" but if it were left alone by tourists what would become of it. I imagine now that it's closed to tourists the impact is being felt swiftly. Nobody wants that. I went and we really enjoyed it. And yes, I do believe Duvall St. is to trendy looking and boutique-ish. But such is life in America. Businesses go to where the money and tourists are. We hope to go again, and yes, seeing "the real" Key West would be great! I hope to go to restaurants that are more authentic and, local. Maybe I'll hit you up on here for some places to go! Thanks....and enjoy life!
Islamorada is pronounced 'Eye-lah more-ahh-dah'. It means 'purple island' in Spanish, and was named for the tiny purple snails that once covered the island by the trillions. They were used for dying clothing though, so these days there's hardly any left. Watch the series 'Bloodline' on Netflix - it was filmed there. A very nice -and super inexpensive- place to stay is the Key Lantern Motel in Islamorada (www.keylantern.com/). Their rates are $80-95/night depending on the season - a price that's nearly impossible to find in the Keys! From there you can walk over to Lorelei Cabana Bar next door for breakfast outside! There's usually a mature -and smart- great white heron that hangs around begging for handouts! Keep an eye on your plate as that big boy will have no problem devouring your entire meal if you look the other way for even an instant (which has happened to me a few times, "you bad bad bird you ate all my bacon, AND my toast too")! At Robbie's Marina keep your purse closed because pelicans will grab things out of it if you set it down on the pier! Also, keep your cell phone held tightly because a lot of people get their cell phones stolen - by pelicans who think you're holding a fish. They literally grab it and fly away... BTW, a night fishing trip (night fishing is always better - more fish, the sea is beautiful in the dark, and it's cooler and more comfortable physically since you're not in the hot hot sun) on the Captain Michael Head ('Party') Boat (run out of and docked at Robbie's Marina) costs around $50 per person (which includes rod/reel rental and bait) is worth every penny. I used to live in Marathon and would go on the Captain Michael all the time - they know where all the fish are! It costs a few dollars more, but pay for a spot on the transom (back of the boat) - you'll catch more fish from there and bigger fish usually as well. TIP: I'd pick up my own bait from any bait and tackle shop or most gas stations - get shrimp and ballyhoo as these attract more fish and a better quality of fish too. Use the shrimp whole, and cut the ballyhoo across the body into chunks. Then, when you get to shore the crew will fillet your fish for a few bucks, which is worth it (take the cleaned fillets to any restaurant and ask them to cook it up 'Key's Style' or 'Key's Family Style' - they'll give you some pan fried, some blackened, some breaded, etc). If you have enough fish, it's customary to tell the server to take some fillets home for their family, and offer some to the chef and busboy if there's plenty (and there usually is). Don't forget to tip the mate of the boat and the captain if you think he did a good job.
Yes we are. The entire video was shot on our GoPro Hero 7 black and an iPhone 11. We travelled light this trip and had an amazing time not having our back weighted down with equipment. It was a nice change and I think they took some great footage.

given how much they charge for a ferry ride out to the Tortugas it is definitely not "must do." It is something I would love to do, but I refuse to pay their prices. Also don't stop in at the brewing company expecting cheap drinks inspire of their name they are not cheap.
