Yes, regulator helps with cold and near-empty canisters, but it also enables simmering. Don't often carry a stove, but if one does, powdered eggs are a near perfect backpacking food, lightweight, compact, providing essential proteins that aren't easily found elsewhere in a hiker's diet. However, to properly cook eggs requires simmering capability. BRS simply won't cut it. A spread-out flame is useful too. Windmaster checks all the boxes. p.s. Four-flex is designed to spring-clamp around the stem of Windmaster, thus making it one-piece-ish for storage. Tip pot-stand 90° to clamp to stem.
Great content, I really like your channel. I have both the Amicus and the Windmaster and they are both very good. I bought the Amicus without piezo because I'd had a piezo fail. The Windmaster is exceptional in windy conditions and incredibly quick and quiet. I use it with the Triflex pot support and at 67g it's hard to beat for the performance. It's the Thermarest Xtherm of stoves, slightly more than you need most of the time but when conditions are bad, nothing else comes close.
Went from a Jetboil clone to the Windmaster at the start of the year...can squeeze it in my Toaks 750ml along with a 100g gas canister, lighter & scrubby. It’s literally a perfect stove in my humble opinion.
SOTO Windmaster is an excellent stove. I have no regrets buying it and pot supports are not tricky to use at all. In fact they're one of the quickest and easiest pot supports to use on the market.
I agree… after changing to the Windmaster I haven’t even thought about another stove… well, that was a lie 😄 I would really much be able to do a comparison to the pocket rocket deluxe in a future episode so… 🤷🏼♂️😄 but that’s the only reason! Love the Windmaster
This stove fits into the evernew solo titanium pot set with a small gas canister/stand and plenty of room to spare for other items. Fits in there so well there's no room for it to even rattle around no case necessary.
I have the Evernew 900ml titanium pot with lid, I’m guessing the only way the Windmaster would fit is if I placed the lid on the bottom before it all went in its stuff sack small canister and stove inside. Not the perfect setup but I think I can make it work.
@JRoss707 There is an orange plastic canister stand with the legs that fold in on Amazon that works with the setup I used. You place the stand in the pot upside down first. Followed by the gas canister upside down with the top plastic cap removed. Then the windmaster can fit inside at an angle with room to spare on either side for the stove top platform, a rag, lighter and probably a few more items. Then put the lid on and the sack it comes with holds it all together with the lid on when the bags closed. The bag seemed like fragile material, but I used it through an entire thu hike and it held up great. When you get the soto stove, you have to purchase the small folding stove top platform separately. It only comes with the large one for bigger pots.
all true, it was love from the first sight, or from the first boil, should I say, the moment i got it, both brs3000 and pocketrocket deluxe moved to the back burner ;)
Love my Soto Windmaster. Used it for my PCT thru-hike, + some other short trips. Don't know if this is normal behaviour, but sometimes when I turn my stove off it continues to burn a little, and sometimes it doesn't. I would notice a fuel smell. Maybe it is the micro regulator, or a damaged o-ring? Anyway, I always unscrew the stove after I am done using it so as to not lose fuel.
I also always unscrew the stove from the canister and I had the same thing sometimes when using the Amicus…probably high pressure form the canister. 🤷🏼♂️
Sorry for late reply…didn’t see this message! I haven’t tried the mighty mo but on the pictures it seems a bit of a distance between the burner head and the feet…any problems in windy conditions or works fine?
Great review. The Windmaster is my favorite stove. I rarely use my BRS anymore. I have had a few of them. Not really impressed with it. I would rather carry a little extra weight and bulk and take the soto any day. I have used it in below freezing temps with no problems. It is my favorite canister stove.
Thanks and glad you liked the review 🙏🏻👍🏻🙂 and yea… an only agree, saves me 5 grams compared to the Amicus plus no need for a mini bic saves me additional 11. Not much but the WM performs so much better it’s a no brainier!! Like the BRS though as well but so bad in windy conditions I rarely think about bringing it!!
@@roberthammenrudh brs nests in gsi halulite minimalist whilst still attached to gas canister. Less playing lego. But when it breaks, I wont get another(the wind).
Intressant, å bra test, å vilken tur att jag la pengarna på windmaster, när jag uppgraderade min lättviktspackning, så att jag inte köpte grisen i säcken.
Don't suppose anybody would know if a Windmaster would fit in an evernew eca521r 750ml pasta pot with a triflex support and a 100gram canister too please? As I have an amicus which is fine but would love to shave that weight a little bit and up that wind resistance as well. Ive checked the dim's and it seems close... Cheers
Answer this myself then - yes it does, but vertically, you can put it sideways but it deforms the thin metal of the pot preventing the lid to clip on correctly.
Hi Robert. Soto gear has always been great. I have used the Amicus with piezo ignition for many years and it has never let me down. The Windmaster is on my wishlist, but... n+1, right? 😊
Thanks 🙏🏻 and we’ll, I haven’t tried the Crux but it seems to be a regular needle valve regulator and more comparable to Amicus so can’t see the Crux being better than the Windmaster…and it’s also heavier and without the igniter/piezo. But I would be glad to try one if I can get my hands on one 🙂
@@roberthammenrudh yes i think you're right. I have the Crux Lite 73g, the valve is a little 'springy', you have to dial further than needed as it springs back. But i like it and it does the job, if i were to buy again it would be the Windmaster.

Always solid videos … something being offered in Sweden next summer 2023 is Wild Pedagogies Colloquium.
Thanks… 🙏🏻 And, Have to Google that… or please explain 🙂
I just ordered, the windmaster, excited to give this one a try.
Congrats, I’m sure you will not be disappointed 👍🏻 it’s a great one!
Thank you Robert. Gosh, you’re good at making your comparison videos.
Thanks Emma 🙏🏻😊 glad you liked it!
Windmaster, with the Soto thermostack (but swapping out the 750 SS for a toaks Ti) FTW
Hi, I didn't like the removable pot stands of the Windmaster. I chose the MSR pocket rocket deluxe because it is one piece.
I do understand because that’s my only concern…one more piece of gear to keep track of 🤷🏼♂️👍🏻

Kan bara hålla med, en fantastisk brännare och otroligt effektiv 👍🏻 nu har jag egentligen ingen anledning att använda min Amicus 🤷🏼♂️ enkelt byte!

Often when buying the top of the line products it’s a buy once, cry once scenario 😄
Pocket Rocket Deluxe is better I think.
I don’t agree nor disagree to that 😄 still have to try the PR Deluxe for an answer but you seem to all ready have done so AND made up your mind?
@@roberthammenrudh Thats correct. Being able to fold the legs up makes it incredible. Also it’s very efficient.
