    Enjoyed your review. I don't have the Soto, but a copy. And even though less quality it has many of the positives you had made mention of. And really like it.

    Excellent review of a top rate canister stove. I just bought one thru Amazon for $75 Cdn. Tested it at home & really like how it can simmer or run wide open. I'm planning to try it next week on a 3-day backpack trip with dehydrated meals & coffee. I'm not wishing for windy conditions but have more confidence that the Windmaster will perform better than my other stoves on such days.

      @@OutdoorguruGearReviews Honestly? In times when everything is becoming more expensive and people have to pay more attention to money, products that even a troubled father can afford without having to have a bad conscience towards his family. Yes, quality has its price. But if someone is outside maybe ten times a year, spent the nights in a non-life-threatening situation, does not need the finest high-end material. And that's the nice thing, that the market is so diverse that there's something for every need.
      What strikes me again and again is that you show quite high-priced products. I think the majority will look at this with interest, but then buy something else. Because, see above, things like everyday life and family have become currently much more expensive. I know premium brands are more likely to put their products out for reviews than bargain brands. Nevertheless, it would be nice if the range of your reviews were a bit broader in terms of pricing.

    • @OutdoorguruGearReviews
      @OutdoorguruGearReviews  Год назад +1

      Point taken and thanks for you honesty. It's not the price neither the willingness of brands that made (or force) me to go that way. Best watched products are the more expensive ones and the only little money I get from RUclips is how much something is watched. I tried some cheaper things but that does not work out and that is a pity. This also means that loop (expensive is more watch time) does not feel right for me so I'll try to do something different but I would need some of your input. Feel free to post them here or send it by mail. You know where to find me ;-)

    One of the best reviews I have seen! I have the Soto Windmaster in my emergency kit but have never used it. Does your coffee pot not sit on the burner with the feel out? I don't think it was designed to be used with them folded in, hence, no jimping on the bottom. You could always put the jimping on yourself if it is of that greater concern to you.

    • @OutdoorguruGearReviews
      @OutdoorguruGearReviews  Год назад

      Hi Shane, With the small Bialetti I leave the potsupport folded in. Maybe it was not designed this way but what the heck, it works 😄. Thank you for your very kind words. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

    Well done on another detailed and well balanced review; it would be interesting to see it compared to the Soto Fusion Trek Stove (I prefer "spider" stoves because I think they are more stable).

    My Jetboil Stash has failed (gas flow almost zero). I also replaced my original Stash under warranty two years ago. I’m thinking of buying a Windmaster this time, particularly as I do a lot of summit camping in Wales! Perhaps that was the one test you didn’t do but would seem highly relevant - a wind test for the ‘wind master’!

    Yes a a like again! :-) ...Hello Gijs, about gas only... there is a lot to say about it, you can't get it everywhere, it is extremely expensive even with the Soto. My way is take more grams and use a multi patrol burner on the long road. We could speak of course hours of reviews about this theme but it needs to have been said. But availability on the long European road of gas is only so so, let alone outside Europe. And planes.... not alowed, also of course another story: don't fly! Not just because of gas problems but of hour existential reasons at all! :-) Good review Gijs and greetings again.

      Ho Onno, And thanks again. Gas has pro's and con's but that is not what this was about but I do agree on what you write. I like gas because of its simplicity and because it is relatively clean, but... Coleman (or petrol) is on longer trips better and wider available. Planes... I never understood the why. Cheers, Gijs

    One interesting test would bee larger Diameter pot vs small diameter oot with heat exchanger. How big should the pot dimensions be to out weight the Compact pot with heat exchanger. And not forgetting ti test the CO production of the different setups

    It may be a language difference. 'Regulator' in gas stove terms means it regulates the pressure that's why this regulator works this way because ALL regulators work this way.
    A basic stove does not have a 'regulator' just a valve.

    Just bought one from Mike. I thought it was too expensive, but I really liked the idea that it could use most of the gas regulated. It sure does that! So, now I think it’s worth the money! What a good stove it is!
    Yes, I’m one of those guys that buys something and search for reviews later 😂 But hey, Mike is someone you can thrust on.
