I We have a 30 or 40 year old lilac bush that was here when we bought the house 1.5 year ago. We absolutely love it! We just don't know if it should be trimmed, pruned, or thinned out. It had quite a lot of new seedlings at its base last summer, our first full season with it. We're inclined to just leave it alone because it is gorgeous and a focal point in our yard. But we want to do what is best to keep it healthy. Do you have any advice?
It is very difficult to provide advice without a careful look at the shrub, talk to a local garden center or landscaping company to get their advice, but often less is more!
Thanks for the video! I’m interested in Phlox Goliath. Would you please make a video about those. Also, I am obsessed with buying bulbs like dahlias, gladiolus, and roots like peonies, day lily and lilies. Any advice or videos would be appreciated.
Is the plant getting the amount of sun it needs, which is full sun (6-8 hours a day)? If so then give the plant some time, often relocating a plant can shock it a bit so it will need time to recover. Be sure to water it well too, as if it is a new plant just purchased.
A plant can be stressed during the time of planting. Water it well a few times a week and be patient. It can take three years before you will see significant growth in the plant and sizable blooms. But we promise it is worth the wait!
I live in a zone 5b and I just got a proven winners bloomerang dark purple lilac to plant... my buds are tiny and small and look like a reddish purple color (which I’m not a fan of... it said dark purple on the tag... I have the same tag as you did.. I like what the tag looks like and what yours looks like). Any way,,, mine is about half of what you had when you first planted mine is two gallon. ... is mine even worth planting? Thanks respectively. I love watching your videos. I’m not experienced at any of this, lol.
Norma, planting a shrub like Bloomerang takes a bit of patience, do not judge the blooms by the color of the buds, and just know it takes 2-3 years for any shrub to mature to a size you will truly admire and enjoy. The first year the plant puts its energy into growing a good root system to support the plant once it begins to grow. Please do not judge the plant you bought by the one Laura shows in the video, she is sent very mature stock plants so people can see the potential of how a plant will look in the garden. So go ahead and plant and enjoy watching it grow and flourish. Keep it well watered this first year too. Thank you.

I found this plant in my yard and I moved it to a great space but I don’t have alot of blooms? Lots of greenery. What am I doing wrong?

I planted my proven winners bloomerang. All flowers have died, only small green leaves. Should I leave it?

Proven Winners thann you!! Very good advice! We will be planting it on Saturday then! ❤️🌸
Shrubs take time to establish their root systems, sometimes many years. Once they do, they start looking like their best. Be patient.
I need one ASAP 🤗😍🌸💕
Can we see what it looks like this year? Mine haven't put on much growth.
Is your plant getting full sun Jolina? We will try to get a picture update to share, but the plant is not currently in bloom.
@@ProvenWinnersRUclips Yes, it gets full sun. I planted on the Southwest side of my yard. Thank you for the response!
