Just love how most of these comments are people talking about their family history in military service to Scotland... and the rest are all talking about the Black Watch from Battletech. Gotta love how music, history and entertainment can bring some of the strangest pairing together.
My military family loves it when I blast this at 5 am and offer them breakfast. The only thing more intimidating than a Scottish man is a Cherokee woman. Lol, eat your eggs, NOW!
My great uncle was 2nd Lieutenant of the Cavalry Division in Northern Epirus at 1940 and fought as 1st Lieutenant, promoted for valour, in Crete, North Africa and Italy . Until his death, he was crying for his fallen comrades, Greeks and Allied, especially for Maori and Scottish, many of them they were his friends from the King's Own Black Watch Regiment. When I hear this march, I remember him.
Think the Black Watch of the SLDF uses the same (or *very* similar) insignia as that of the real life one. In-universe, they're one and the same, they just took different directions as history unfolded. In which case, I'd be careful with that patch, if you managed to get one. The Northwind Highlanders are fair game, though!
Amaris never had another good nights sleep again after he witnessed the sheer insanity of those kilt wearing madlands. God bless the Blackwatch. And fuck that periphery heck.
Amen to that, Scottish/Celtic blood in my veins, I have the up most respect and love for the beautiful sound of the pipes and those that play them and the pride of the long history of Scotland and and of all Celtic lands!
Ma and Da were native bourne Americans but i was Belfast Bourne and raised till 6 yrs old. I still wear the black watch tartan in my kilt since our family had no tartan.
Wait, what? The Black Watch crushes rebellions. They were formed from clans loyal to England like Clan Campbell, the ones who put down rebellions like the '15 and' 45.
Fuck North western periphery hecks. The Black watch didn’t deserve what they got. But the fact they got it shows just how insane and badass those kilt wearing madlads were.
My great great great grandad was apparently a pipe major in The Blackwatch. Family explained to me that he was the one to lead the men into battle. { After having their slug of whiskey } He obviously survived at some point because if not I wouldn't have made it. I do believe that the Celtics are quite tough nuts to crack. As inspite of everything we are still here But this does not make us special. Many races have been made to suffer, black people, Jews and many more. It's just that in especial that music does make me wonder.
My late Father was Acting Sergeant William McLaren Young Nicol, 1st Battalion, the Black Watch, the Royal Highland Regiment. He escorted accused war criminals to the trials at Nürnberg.
