Another tip I can add to this is to make sure to optimise your noise to performance ratio. Most gaming PCs, the GPU temps matter the most. Set up a fan curve to ramp up with the GPU, but make sure to set it at a maximum level you're comfortable with in terms of noise. In my findings, after a certain RPM, the temp reduction is SUPER negligence compared to the noise. Found this out not too long ago in my personal machine, I had my Silent Wings 4 fans set to about 1900 RPM when the GPU got under load. Dropped the speeds to about 1400 RPM and temps only rose by 3°C with a massive noise reduction. No changes to GPU fan speeds which were running quietly too. In the end, I reduced them to about ~1100 RPM. Essentially silent and I am quite happy with temps. Just sharing two cents in case it helps someone 🙂

My GOD THANKS!!! my fans were not changing speed and I was having a really hard time looking for answer in youtube and Google and NONE gave me what you said, it was as SIMPLE as “change your fans from DC to PWM mode” Thankssss a lot!! Now my first from scratch build PC is PERFECT ❤
As someone that's got 11 Noctua industrial 3000 RPM fans in my PC case an aggressive fan curve is definitely needed. Now when my computer is in quiet mode for like watching videos or just surfing the internet eight of my case fans are off and only three of the six fans on my radiator or running at 500 RPM. I keep all my case fans set at a steady 700 RPM after a certain temperature and I let my radiator fans adjuster speed according to the CPU temperature. I get the best of both worlds as I get an ultra quiet PC and the sound of a jet when I'm playing with my flight simulators as it feels realistic as I can feel the heat off the computer blowing in my face.
I'd suggest NOT using your mainboards software at all if you can avoid it. They are known to put so much crap in their software, which ramps the speed of the fans up itself since it uses so many cpu cycles because of all telemetry going on. Use a tool called Fan Control. Amazing software, lightweight, no commercial. And afaik, it is the only fan software that can handle gpu fans as well.
l When i exit Fan Control after entering all my fan settings and starting my pc again it changes my settings even though i saved it manually. What should i do ?
I agree Ima try to download this software I did what he did in the video and at first it seemed like my pc got a little bit more quite but when I got on COD my pc got loud asf
Hi Prawn and another great vid here! Have you done a fan control vid for a MSI Z790, i9-13900k, RTX 4090 in the past? Or at least cover basic fan settings for a build like this? Finally you do a great job making the complicated a little easier to understand so thanks for that!
what seemed to fix my issue was moving one of my CPU fans to the other side of my heatsink so its next to the ram I think it was fighting for air with another fan so they both got really loud
Hello I would like to have this presentation on the same with lian li software behind you on screen please I have full aio and fans lian li in the case lian li 11 evo xl thanks
thank you so much I read another comment where it said it made it sound like it’s gone from a jet engine to a nice walk in the sun and i couldn’t agree more thank much appreciated
Noctua NF-A12x25's + NA-SAVP1'S + NA-SAV2's in a Fractal North case has only gotten as loud as taking a big breath and blowing out. Like a slight breeze outside a shut window.
A GPU undervolt also works wonders. I did a super small undervolt to my 6650 XT. Fan's noise was reduced by about 40%, temps dropped 15C (hotspot is now always under 70C) and didnt' lose performance.
MSI center...geez...read the EULA and the privacy policy? They want the ability to check your credit rating and monitor nearly everything you do online. People think microsoft is bad. MSI is worse. They ahve the ability to affect your credit score.
thank you been wanting to do this for awhile now. can I use any 4 pin header on my mobo as fan headers and they still work the same as proper fan headers?
Asus armoury crate just screwed up and it doesn't change anything related to fans, and reinstalling or even formati9ng didn't lhelp with that. Was fine for 3 years untill like a month ago
I have one group (daisy chains) that just wont change speed no matter what cables are plugged in. I just cant work it out. Why would one change and not the other?
@@TheProvokedPrawn Yep, no fans even show in the bios, only the CPU header which has the pump connected. In L-Connect software, one group changes RPM and the other one doesnt... Tried changing cables around, still nothing
It could be that the CPU is too hot and the fans are spinning faster to compensate. Which could be a few different things. ruclips.net/video/sVEXd-Wp8FY/видео.html
I have a PC someone built me the thing has 4 fans in it, Idk if it's supposed to be this loud but I remember they told my I can't change the speed because they are hooked up differently or something. Uhhhh idk what to do.
I run the Lian Li software in my MSI Project Zero case. The only thing that is super loud is the AIO pump off the Lian Li Hydroshift. While this work even with the LL software running too?
Gigabyte's "silent" mode is much noisier than my custom curves, i recommend taking the time to set up the curves manually to whatever sounds best and keeps good temps (little guide in next comment)
Now for a quick easy guide: Set the curve to the lowest you can (usually 20%) at around 40°C, it won't go cooler than that so thats the starting point, then 100% at about 80°C and all the points in between should make a straight line, it works super smooth
I bought a brand new pc with i7 12th gen, rtx 4080 so very modern. And i still play games on Xbox because of the god awful fan noise on any modern game

My gpu isn't even that hot around 60 while playing but it gets very loud I did buy a second hand gpu and was going to upgrade
Omg when I changed all my system to PWM, I shit u not my pc went from sounding like a spaceship to a nice walk in the sun. Than you so much

Thank you for this! Switching from DC to PWM was the trick after trying to mess with the fan curve.
Glad it helped

what if it aint the fans mines sounds more like a jet an ive stopped every fan an i can still hear the jet sound

I use Fan Control software.
While i playing my fans become very super fast then very slow ?
What's the problem?
It's very annoying
Games

My fans spin at full speed when booting but when windows opens it stops
The noise from my sons room drowns out the fan sounds. Do you have any soundproofing recommendations?

Changing to PWM mode actually increased the fan noise, they've started to spin even faster .. didn't work for me
I hear whistling sound from my cooling fans should i worry?
i have aio cooling or whatever its called, but everything is put on silent and it gets extremely loud, idk what to do, im not good with computers

How to fix loud fan noise on startup?

Not all of mine are running fast just the outer fans
I run the Lian Li software in my MSI Project Zero case. The only thing that is super loud is the AIO pump off the Lian Li Hydroshift. While this work even with the LL software running too?
what if my fans and aio not connected to my pc?
connect them?

My biggest problem is it blows the air/dust onto my face. It’s not as obnoxious as holding your face to the fan but it’s noticeable and annoying.
mine only gives me 2 options...
I bought a brand new pc with i7 12th gen, rtx 4080 so very modern. And i still play games on Xbox because of the god awful fan noise on any modern game
where is the software fan control its the best free fan software there is

Hope it helped
so how to get on bios we dont know all that its very dificult to show that ?
Turn your PC on. Press DEL or F2 until you get into the bios.
all my fans were on dc lmao
i love you
Thanks?
