Love the consistency of the size and covers. I don’t know what it is that makes looking at a stack of finished journal so enjoyable, but these make me want to try pocket size. 😱🤦🏻♀️🤣
You know, I feel the same way. But, I've made a promise to myself not to buy any more journals until I work through a few that I have. I'm making decent progress, but it might still be a while before I get to try out these little pocket size wonders :)
Lola! Thank you! I’ve really enjoyed this size, and I too really enjoy looking at the stack grow and the consistency of them. It’s kind of like a physical representation of this new period in my life. And sometimes I feel when I’m most restless and unsatisfied in my personal life, I tend to hop around a lot between varying journal sizes, like Goldilocks never quite satisfied with the journal.
Luudite that’s always a good idea! Best of luck to you finishing up those unused journal babies! The pocket size has been a lot of fun. Hope you get to try them out, soonish. ;)
I have my first pocket-sized Leuchturm waiting in the wings for when I finish my current A5 journal, I have been so inspired by these videos of these little cuties! Maybe one day I'll have a lovely stack to admire, too... :)

@@adventuredenali It's going on two years now. I mostly travel from Texas to California with my two dogs. I spent several weeks in Tucson, Mesa, Las Cruces and Sierra Vista before Covid - I totally understand why you love it there and you inspire me to explore even more! :-)

Thanks for sharing your love of pens, paper, ink, music and life with the rest of us! In the past I’ve felt a bit claustrophobic in them, but for whatever reason, they’ve been sticking this time around. I hope you enjoy your pocket as much! Seeing little stacks of pockets grow is very satisfying, haha.
Your completed stash of pocket journals is awesome! I have the same pen case in the crazy horse blue and love it. Happy, safe travels to you and your partner! Hope you'll share some of your adventures here. :)
Audrey Caldeira-Hankey thank you very much! It’s brought me a lot of joy, and I’m realizing, the cover can tell a story too, not just the pages within.
@@adventuredenali That is so true. Many thanks. I look forward to seeing which pen makes it to the final slot in your pen case for the trip. It must be quite a decision given all the lovely pens in your collection!
I really enjoyed this video and, as is often the case i feel i need a new journal size. I'm in Leuchtturm A4 and A5 and now i feel A6 is something i should experience. Your Darcy is lovely. and I can't wait to see your felt pen cases when you offer them. I truly love thick, wool felt. Have a great trip!!!
Crafting and writing supplies really should be the first consideration when planning for a trip. 😹 Everything else will fall into place. Best wishes for an amazing trip and I look forward to hearing more about your decisions for pens and inks. I love the colors you’ve chosen for your journal lineup, they are so summery. Your collage is looking stellar. I love that you’re creating a whole mood with the covers, and the many layers are so well done. I love how it turns out looking like one cohesive piece. tattooedcat exactly! Everything else will fall into place. :) Thank you for the well wishes! I’m still waffling in which pens to take and if I want to fill up some traveling inkwells or not, haha.
Clearly, you are exceptionally talented, Alicia; in retrospect, I do hope the road trip was enjoyable. Trusting that you (both) remain fine & well, Andrew :)
I love packing and getting ready for a trip, too. Check out the Opus 88 models of fountain pen. I discovered them last year just before a trip to Spain. They hold a lot of ink because are eye-droppered but have a shut-off stopper to make them safe for flying. I’m going to take a look at that Galen case; it looks really nice. That would be good for a road trip. I love my SCOTTeVEST travel vest because it has an inside pen pocket on each side which can hold 4 pens in all. The vest is my purse so I am hands free. Other pens are in my sketch kit. For journal I just have a pocket-size Rhodia notebook. However, not going anywhere until next year when and if the plague is past! Enjoy your trip and take us along vicariously.
Opus 88, exactly what I wanted to add. Check out the Koloro Demonstrator, it holds liters of ink. And has big, smooth, affordable nibs. Have you ever looked into the Van der Spek pencases? They are really high quality
Oh Wow!! I love your journals! Your collage is wonderful! I also love the pen pouches. The y are so cool because of the flap being so long! That is also wonderful. Can't wait to hear when you will be selling them. I have to have one!! Have a fab time on your road trip!! Thanx for sharing.

Tess A oooh I love that image of Indiana Jones and the diary! I’m so glad it gives that impression. My perfect little companion! Thank you so much Tess! Hope you’re doing well and staying safe.
Lowe’s sells small building kits for kids. Those kits come with a small (but fully functional) hammer. I don’t know if it will be heavy enough for the snaps, but it does give you a place to begin your search. Also, I bet some hobby shops have selections of small hammers too. Anyway, great video, thanks for sharing.
LOVE the journals. I love packing pens and journal supplies, but also knitting, for my trips. I'd rather pack all that stuff than clothes, though I know that's unreasonable. haha. I hope you have a great trip! The pen pouches are adorable!
Manda B Thank you Manda! Knitting is such a wonderful thing for trips! I thought to take some knitting things too... we’ll see - I’m trying to pack minimally, but I can already see the pile growing in my head, haha!
HI Alicia, Your are so talented. As for the felt pen pouches, I would suggest maybe just leave the flap off (like the Charles Dee leather 2 pen holders) and make the width of the slots just wide enough for the average pen. Besides , the clipped fountain pens can just clip onto the pen holder without falling out. As for ways to secure the flap of the pen case /holder, your could use extra small magnets if you can find them and sew them into the felt ( extra work and not sure if it is cost effective when you set a price to the case when you decide to sell them) or velcro ( cost effective if you can get them wholesale price instead retail ). If felt material is expensive, what if you use some kind of stretchy fabric or material that is able to stretch but not shrink if it gets washed or wet as you put the pen into the case . As for pricing , you could the sell price at maybe twice , three times or more the your cost of material and time to make the pen cases. So if it cost you $$ 5 dollars to make , you could price the pen cases for maybe $$ 10 to $$15 when you do decide to sell them somewhere ETSY, EBAY, MERCARI etc. It is great that you turn off your phone and step back with nature and turned off your phone most of your camping trip. It is just sad that some people would be on social media posting pictures on vacation /a trip think that it is what their friends want to know about their lives. It just seems like the people that do are not really enjoying that in the moment time of their trip and vacation ..
Love the collection! I'm so excited to see my pocket journal grow. From picking out the color of the notebook to the sticker I put on the cover, all of it is so much fun. :) I hope you have a blast on your road trip and I can't wait to see the inks you take with you.
Kimmy Vera thank you! It’s so fun to see the development, and take part in the process as a whole. I’ll definitely make a video before leaving, or maybe during, of the pens and inks I decide on!
I'm just as to what you do for a living to be able to afford some of the really nice pens you have. I only recently started collected fountain pens and started with beginner pens. I have noticed that a lot of the pens you've shown tend to be over a $150 dollar range. Do you have an suggestions for someone who enjoys collecting pens but is on a budget?
I love your collaged covers! You have also made me strongly consider my next big pen purchase being a pilot custom 823. I have a custom 74 that I absolutely love, and I think an 823 would be a great addition to the collection :)
I acquired a FA nib Pilot Custom 823 and I love it so much I have considered buying a second Pilot Custom but maybe in a medium nib. It writes very wet even for fine lines. It really makes ink come to life and allows for the true depth of the ink to shine.
Snoofle-bean in the undergrowth content! You made my day :) You can buy a little folding hammer that is meant for tiny non-aggressive hammering on the go. They are often found in camping supply places. Some multi-tools have itty bitty hammers along with pliers and other useful things. I will buy a pen pouch from you when you start selling them :) I hope that you have a beautiful, enriching, and rejuvenating trip!
Jennie Eveleigh Lamond Snoofle-Bean! I love that, haha. Oh good to know about the hammer! Although someone else pointed out - just put the snaps on before I travel! XD East peasy!
@@adventuredenali Putting the snaps on before leaving is just the kind of organized and intelligent thing that I would never think of doing. Brilliant! Ferrets are so wonderful and full of personality!
Ahhh my little ferret friend 😎🌍🇦🇺👍 we are not allowed to even leave our post code at the moment so travelling any distance is a dream have the best of times and make lots of great memory’s ...stay safe aswell
Lynda Snart the little fuzzy noodle says, “hello.” Hehe. Oh wow, I’m so sorry you have such restrictions. Makes sense though... I feel like our state should consider that too. We’ll be camping out for the majority of our trip, and making sure we’ve quarantined before interacting with anyone on the road. Hope you get to go somewhere soon.
Oh, forgot, just got a bunch of sample inks from Goulet pens and a bottle of Monteverdi Horizon Blue. They were out of the De Atrementis blue I wanted. Got my sticker. Just also ordered Kaweco sport mini plunger. Pen exploration is continuing.......
I am more into pens than paper. So thank you for some more exposure to your journals and organizing your journals. I think of other people that show their EDC. To me, it’s my pen and daily planner, three months length. And a watch and pocket knife. Some people don’t see the point of carrying even a pen. I do not understand that. Thanks
Chanhassen920 haha! Oh man, perhaps you and I would be lost without our pens. I too carry a knife, just a little Opinel. When I was working as a teacher, I’d have a watch too. But time seems less relevant these days. And thank you. Hope your day goes well.
I had to investigate the pocket hammer--there are surprisingly many options on amazon: www.amazon.com/s?k=pocket+hammer&i=sporting&ref=nb_sb_noss_2. Have fun on your road trip!
would you ever create and sell wool folders for travelers notebooks? i’ve tried to recreate yours from your old maverick A5 video but have failed multiple times, ah!
When I've travelled in the past, I put some ink in an ink sample vial. That way I can fly without my pens inked, and can slip that in my liquids bag. Since you're road tripping, you could just keep a couple of extra ink samples in case you run out of ink.
Elizabeth Kleinkramer yes! I’ve been considering that too! I just cleaned a few out yesterday. I also have two of the pineider traveling inkwells which are really fantastic. Still debating on what pens and if I want to take ink or not. XD
When you referenced selling were you talking about the pouches or pens? I loved seeing what pens and journals you are packing for your trip! I love choosing what inks and journals to use as well 😊
Mr. Swooprah congratulations! What pen did you get? Do you have it yet? Also, when the pouches are available, I’ll be making an announcement here and on Instagram. :)
For tiny hammers, look for shoemaker hammers or leather work hammers; I know that there are small models for delicate work. There are also very small mallets, made of brass, for watchmakers and gunsmiths, but i don't know if it has enough mass to crimp the snaps. Thanks for the video.
alice gonyar hello Alice! The journals were purchased through jetpens.com. The journal covers I collaged together with magazine cut outs and a glue stick! :D I made a video once, or twice to show the process. :)
Wow, your process is so developed and evolved I really love it! I’m not a big sticker fan. The collage is custom, personalized, yet a complex visual too. Really cool. Do you protect that art work in any way once glued on the covers? Is your content always the same in each volume or do have specific volumes dedicated to topics like gratitude, etc. ? You must be a very good speller too, lol! Really beautiful..
Are you just taping the collages on? I’m interested in some pen pouches too! Any recommendations for my first gold nib pen. I’d like something springy in either a meadium or fine. I want something to give me some line variation and smooth. :)
Kittywolf13 hey Irene!!! I glue them on with an elmers glue stick, and then I cover them with tape. Also, exciting news for you!!! I wish I knew more flexy modern nibs, but unfortunately I don’t! I’ve heard the Pilot Falcon is great. I love Pilot in general, their Custom 823 is still to this day my favorite nib I’ve yet to experience. But it’s not flexy. Let me look into it, maybe I can help!
Kittywolf13 the Pilot e95s is wonderful too. But, the converter doesn’t hold much ink, and again the nib isn’t flexy at all. It’s a wonderful writer though.
Platinum makes a soft nib, but in comes in fine. Can still get some line variation out of it though. Maybe this will help: ruclips.net/video/wGKxm4eDJTc/видео.html
@@adventuredenali thanks so much for your suggestions! I will check them out. Id be lieing if i didnt admit that i love that Pelikan m 400 the white one. its just so beautiful! so i guess maybe i need a flex and a pelikan. lol
Instead of a tenth pen, how about a travel ink bottle? A couple of them would fit nicely into your pen case. Thanks for another lovely wonderful video. May your summer travel be sweet and easeful especially during these times.
A D I thought about that as well! In fact, I was thinking 5 pens and 5 sample bottles instead, haha! Thank you so much. We’ll be camping nearly the whole time, and quarantining ourselves as best we can. Oi, this world. :/ Grateful to get to travel though.
AdventureDenali May you have a wonderful time! If it were me, I'd take the ten pens, one of those large travel ink vials and a couple of ink sample bottles. But that's just me. It's not easy to find ink refills out there in the world. When flying, I used to tuck an extra sample ink bottle filled with the color du jour in my TSA approved toiletries bag. Because ink! Happy trails.
Owning an A5 folio myself (and having paid a bunch for my crazy horse green one) it almost hurts to see you are using it for these few items. But still, it is a matter of personal preference ;-) Wish for a good trip and thank you for the video!
Jan Odewald better to use it than not at all! Otherwise, that’s the real waste, for it just to be sitting around in a drawer. I’m really grateful to be repurposing it. :)
@@adventuredenali you are right, absolutely. Don't get me wrong, I mostly wanted to point out how much I love my folio. Sits in my backpack and follows me around where ever I go.
@@adventuredenali true! When the finances are right I definitely want to collect fountain pens again! You're video's are so calming and sweet and interesting as well!
Have you experienced any scratching from the bands inside the pen case? I recently bought one and the bands are snug. I’m a little scared that they’ll scratch. Lol
Has your journal ever been wet and ruin some of your beautiful fountain pen handwriting and stories? Cuz sometimes I feel like I'm afraid that if I write this special thought with a fountain pen ink, someday eventually water will ruin my words!!
AdventureDenali Have you ever tried eyedroppering the Kawaco Sports? Not the brass one, of course, but the plastic bodied Sports? They hold an amazing amount of ink and are great for travel. I have and eyedroppered Preppy that is just ink for weeks ....

I hope you get to travel and pack! It is surely so fun. Thank you!
This was fun to watch and see what you're gonna be packing, and ya know they do sell mini hammers in dollar stores 😉
Great video! Barnes and Noble also has the Leuchtturm pocket notebooks!!!
Oh yes! That’s true! :D (and thank you!)
Beautiful fountain pens cases and the Journals are beautiful also...
Love the art on your notebooks, they are full of life🤓 very inspirational
Jessica. Burnett. Thank you Jessica :)
@@adventuredenali you are very welcome 🙂
@@adventuredenali you are very welcome 🙂
Lovely to see the updates. Sounds like a fun trip, with a fair amount planned out to fill in those unplanned times :)
Thank you! Yes, a fair amount planned for unplanned times. Well put. :)
There are little hammers for precise works on watches...maybe that´ll do as they have a metal tip on one side and a hard plastic tip on the other :)
You look so relaxed and happy!!
I feel both of those things! :D
Excellent! Exploration and adventure! Enjoy everything and hopefully you can get your hands on that blue ink soon.
I really like the cover on journal #41. They’re all nice, though. Enjoyable video, as usual.
Tommy Lane thank you Tommy!
Hi, have fun on your trip away, your videos are so beautiful and inspirational :)
Ethel Hallow thank you very much!
So much fun!!! Thank you for sharing!
Yay! I’m so glad! Thank you!
I just love your style.
Beautiful collages.
XD
Great fun video. 🙂
Lovely covers, Alicia!
ONE needle? Might want a few more for your trip. Can you hammer in the snaps at home before assembling the pouches?
obragg1 I know, really chancing it there! I don’t have any other needles that fit tinge embroidery thread. Maybe I’ll get some, haha.
obragg1 oh and yes!!!! Your brilliant. I will add the snaps on before the trip! Problem solved! Thank you!
Definitely should have an ETSY!
Co Dys yes! That’s what I’d like :)
love your videos thank you for posting
You always love vintage style 💕
Purinn Kiju it’s true!
Another great video! Definitely interested in the pouches!
Jeremy Clark thank you!!
Will post updates in the future in regards to the pen pouches! :)
@@adventuredenali Can't wait~
Please please please make felt folders for purchase. I cannot find them anywhere and don’t know what I’m doing. Could I please commission you for one?
When you referenced selling were you talking about the pouches or pens? I loved seeing what pens and journals you are packing for your trip! I love choosing what inks and journals to use as well 😊
writingonsunshine I was referring to the pouches. :) I’m making up a big batch to sell, and see how it goes.
Thank you! :D
Hope you have a great trip!
Thank you Noreen!
I bought myself my first gold nib fountain pen last week. I’m currently looking for a pen pouch for 2 pens, I’d love to buy one from you.
Mr. Swooprah congratulations! What pen did you get? Do you have it yet? Also, when the pouches are available, I’ll be making an announcement here and on Instagram. :)
AdventureDenali I got a sailor pro gear slim with a Hard Medium nib. I also got myself a kaweco brass sport and a bottle of Iroshizuku Kon-Peki.
For tiny hammers, look for shoemaker hammers or leather work hammers; I know that there are small models for delicate work. There are also very small mallets, made of brass, for watchmakers and gunsmiths, but i don't know if it has enough mass to crimp the snaps. Thanks for the video.
Oooh brilliant! I think they’d be adequate, it doesn’t require a whole lot to crimp the snaps down. Thank you so much!
Super cool covers
....someone should have an ETSY.😊😏
Love your videos! Can you post a link to where and what to purchase for the notebooks? And how you covered them?
Thank you! Alice in Vermont
alice gonyar hello Alice!
Have a great trip!!
Thank you!
The covers are really making me want to go on a road trip!
cerealnana yes! Any chance you’ll be able to this summer?
@@adventuredenali I hope so! I'm in the process of getting my UK permanent residency, so I can't leave this little island. Maybe go to Scotland!
Why aren’t you using the Superior Labor leather pen roll? Was this video made before you got the pen roll?
Id be lieing if i didnt admit that i love that Pelikan m 400 the white one. its just so beautiful! so i guess maybe i need a flex and a pelikan. lol
He did. He loves your channel and so do I. He talked about you for a long time.
Thank you for the video, I love you.
Aww thank you and you’re very welcome.
Jan Odewald that’s so fantastic!!! It’s a splendid folio indeed. I love it too. :)
Small hammers do exist. I like small one from Harbor Freight for $2.99. You are so talented.
Partner? That’s so awesome!!!
Yeah! :D A new development. :)
@@adventuredenali lucky guy!
p.s. What model is the vintage Kaweco piston filler? It looks very sweet indeed.
A D it is indeed! It’s a sport, v16
AdventureDenali Perhaps you will share it with us soon, along with some of those other pocket pens that didn't make the part one video? Thanks!
I really love multi function pens idk why
Things that serve multiple purposes are always so wonderful.
@@adventuredenali true! When the finances are right I definitely want to collect fountain pens again! You're video's are so calming and sweet and interesting as well!
Protectinggg the pen :) Lovely
Berk Unant must protect pen! Haha

Have you experienced any scratching from the bands inside the pen case? I recently bought one and the bands are snug. I’m a little scared that they’ll scratch. Lol
I’ve not ever had that problem! :D it’s such a great case, I’ve really quite enjoyed it.
Maybe instead of using snaps for the pen cases, use magnet closures
😁😁😁😁😊😊😊she survived 4 days🕳 without phone connection🤔👍heroic
Haha! I can do better 😉
@@adventuredenali 🙌🤙👍🤳💣💥🕳🏃♀️👍😊😊
Can you tell us about your necklace?
It’s just a little silver circle that I found and put on some brown string. :)
Has your journal ever been wet and ruin some of your beautiful fountain pen handwriting and stories? Cuz sometimes I feel like I'm afraid that if I write this special thought with a fountain pen ink, someday eventually water will ruin my words!!
One more question! Are the journals the hard cover or soft cover? Thank you!
alice gonyar they are the hard cover :)
Is it me or did the Kaweco Al Sport grow over the old piston filled kaweco?!
Yes, it did indeed!
Which, is really crazy considering the new sports have such a smaller carrying capacity for ink! What gives Kaweco??
AdventureDenali Have you ever tried eyedroppering the Kawaco Sports? Not the brass one, of course, but the plastic bodied Sports? They hold an amazing amount of ink and are great for travel. I have and eyedroppered Preppy that is just ink for weeks ....
Check out RioGrand. They have jeweler tools. You can find a good hammer there.
Thank you so much! :D
Howard Stern brought me here...
Hi baby, nice to know that everything is going well with you. Take care
Leopoldo Parada thank you :) stay healthy
Do you use tape or decoupage for the covers?
Carleen Pierce I use a glue stick to glue everything down, and then tape over it. I’ve yet to try decoupage, worried it’d become sticky.
Nice job
Thank you!
You need a rock hammer like from Shawshank Redemption. :)
leatherman has little hammer multitool
howard stern replay brought me here
Welcome! :D
What are you using to glue the collage onto the notebooks?
Laura Senchuk just an Elmers glue stick
@@adventuredenali Then you clear tape over top of them?
Anybody knows what was the black pencil case with 10 pen loops?
That’s a Galen Leather 10-slot zipper pouch.

@@adventuredenali Thank you :)
Volume number 40? Im so not a journaler. Jealous of people who are consistent with it. Obsessed with movies where the main characters who keep diaries in the movies.
Are you going to make the trip in the middle of the pandemic?
economíamatemática yes, that is correct. We will be camping out the entire time, avoiding cities and people mostly.
@@adventuredenali Awesome!!! I think is a great idea. Also, I love your Pelikan line up. Next month I am going to buy my first Pelikan M400, I am not prepare for the big guy!! I am curious of the Kaweco vintage that you presented in this video, it seems to me that it is the first time that you mention it. Is that correct?
