- In the latest Mk4 build video, Tony and John fit the hood on the Roadster, and give you tips on how to make the hood scoop cut-out. Tony also gives some tips on trimming the inner edge of the cockpit for the dashboard and rear cockpit aluminum.
Thank you so much for all this great info and tips on body setting the gaps and cutting on the body. It's going to make the job that much easier. Thanks!!!
Thank you.this was an awesome series of videos. i will use these tips do complete my body work. .
So much fun doing this stuff. The best part in my opinion 😀
the air saw actually makes a pretty tidy cut
I love these videos. Does anyone know when the guys will work the parting lines?
I have enjoyed these how to videos byTony. I have been doing a lot of research on your hot rod truck. Is it possible to do a build series like this one for the truck?
Why not use a compass to scribe/draw the cut line?
I had the same thought. I'm not sure I'd trust the calibration on my eyeball.
Is this a re-upload? I think I saw this video previously.
Yes it is. Not sure how it happened, but looked like the previous upload got deleted. Wanted to make sure it was back up.
@@factoryfive Awesome, I always look forward to new videos. I think I have re-watched the build videos a few times over the past month.
My kit gets here next month and the part about cutting 1/4 inch so the body can fit over the carpet. Why is this not done prior to sending? To me that’s a fitment issue.
Yaaaas!
How large of a diameter pilot hole can we make? I assume it’s just a matter of preference of radius, correct? Nothing would be in the way underneath if we went with something like a 1/2” hole saw?
Are those general purpose drill bits @ 9:30?
I've done some serious research and even posted on the forum 3 weeks ago with no response. Is it possible to make these kinds of cars street legal? I've only ever seen factory 5 cars at car shows or on racetracks or in somebody's garage as just a show piece
Yes they can be street legal. Bigger issue is whether you really want to daily drive them. Depending on the build, they may not have normal car features like heat, AC, radio, power steering, etc. They may not have fit a hardtop or soft top roof or even wipers if it rains. They're a fun car to take out nice days, but not necessarily something you can routinely drive to work (although there are people who do).
Most of the cars on the forum are street cars. That is what the majority of the guys building the MKIV roadster are doing.
Groundhog Day?
Yes, sorry! Looks like this video was deleted somehow, so we re-uploaded it.
Anyone else think their gaps are too wide?
After priming, painting and clear coat, they will tighten back up.
