    I’m just starting the vocals on a solo project, and this whole series has been very timely. I feel like you have single-handedly demystified pretty much any audio concept I’ve been struggling to completely wrap my head around lol
    Can’t wait for the rest of the series

    THANK YOU SO MUCH for telling how to get a 3rd part plug in to show up in GB. I see other videos of people saying download this.. and that... but I had no idea how you get it to show up

    Thanks a lot for going into a little more deep about tweaking the compressor. It will certainly take some time for me to digest all this stuff and understand what I have to do. I am blessed.

    The trio from Analog Obsession of Fetish, LALA and Specomp is brilliant. Covers a huge range of compression needs.

    Great tutorial, and makes sense. I realized why I hated using the compression buttons on GB. It always seemed to just reduce my vocals but I was never using the make-up gain (OUTPUT?) to bring back the lower quieter parts of my vocals up. I'll try this out on my next recording! Thank you!

    Stacking compressors has really improved my mixes. Although, I think my Mac would give me the blue screen of death if I tried stacking more than 10!!!

    Hi Colin, the work you do with these videos is awesome! Love this compressor. One question: shouldn't the little 'slam' button be on (blue) to make those settings actually work? Thanks. Mat.

    • @TheBandGuide
      @TheBandGuide  2 года назад +1

      Great question but no! The "slam" button is emulating the famous "all buttons in" setting on an 1176. This impacts the ratio and makes it really extreme. I typically don't really want that type of sound on my vocals

    Hey Colin great video! I have downloaded this plug in as well as waves tune, but when I go to use them, the pop up screen for both look like a garageband internal plug in with no graphic just a generic box with a list of parameters? Has this ever happened to you? ok thanks for all the great info

    How do I get the free 1176 compressor on to my iPhone and then into garage band .. I don’t have anything else, no Mac no computer :(

    • @DevonRyeTheDragonfly
      @DevonRyeTheDragonfly Год назад +1

      The iPhone/iPad app is cool but very restrictive in many ways, I recently upgraded to Mac and it makes everything much easier.
      You’re not going to get most of these plugins for your iPhone. If you really can’t get a Mac, just use the compressor that’s built into your iPhone app

    • @StarWarsMatcha
      @StarWarsMatcha Год назад

      @@DevonRyeTheDragonfly thank you, well ok I’m that note, what Mac to you get or would you recommend me getting so to speak ? That would help a lot.
      Cuz Obviously.. I would only be getting it strictly for creating my music garage on band, I’m sure I need something with a lot of memory in storage space I’m just Wondering if you might be able to point me in the right direction so I can go buy one when I can afford it. Thank You Ahead of time !! 💙

    • @DevonRyeTheDragonfly
      @DevonRyeTheDragonfly Год назад +1

      @@StarWarsMatcha Well, I’m not exactly an expert on mac but I’d probably go for a stronger model, something like a Pro. A MacBook Air might not have enough power to run more sophisticated projects.
      I got lucky recently and bought a MacBook from an acquaintance who had never really used it before for around 500$. It’s still not exactly cheap but if you can save up some money, it’s really worth it. I also used to produce on the iPhone for years but never really professionally. The Mac version of GarageBand is truly on another level. You’re welcome btw and I wish you all the best
