I find command with left or right arrow to zoom in or out sure takes the frustration out of doing it with the top right of the window slider. Not really a trick but it's a great keyboard shortcut.
@@TheBandGuide Took me a while, but now I found out, how to copy a region with the automation track. In the MIX menu select: Move track automation with region. (should be like this in English) NOW, when you copy the region with alt key, it copies the automation track also!
I’m still trying to figure out how to do a time signature/ Key change in a song. Like for an example. “My song goes from Cmaj to E major & then back. Looks like GarageBand will only let me do one.
Great tips! The only one I did know was the last when you drag instead of clicking.. For me the best one was the automation level one that really gives a more precise level. A lot of great hidden stuff in Garageband for sure! Thanks Boss! 👏
@Fastvoice yes that's midi signals. I programmed each track to another signal from the edrum kit. So snare got its own track, kick own track etc. Only picking up the signal from corresponding input.
@@snijer2 That's no magic and requires no special gear/interface. In the video he was talking about audio tracks, not midi. For simultaneous multitrack audio recording you need different inputs for every track - therefor an interface with multiple audio inputs.
Hi I just got GarageBand on 2 identical iPads for Xmas for kids . The chords on the guitar fret boards are different, and 1 has twice as many as the other. Do you please tell me where or how to adjust this ? Thanks
I did mix some live recorded drums in my first mixing series on here, actually! If you go to my channel they are the videos in the top playlist. It’s not drums only, but you’ll see me mix them throughout those videos
I do! I’d say recording live drums is one of the main areas Logic helps with. The ability to group tracks together for editing is invaluable when editing multiple drum tracks. And bussing the drums to one aux channel (using a “summing folder”) can be really helpful for mixing

Safe solo and “fine automation” just saved a lot of time for me. Thank you for everything you do.
Awesome! So helpful
I've used GB for about 10 years and never knew some of these tricks Thanks Colin much appreciated!
You can also undo all solo tracks at once by clicking on one with alt key.
wait that’s such a good one! I definitely didn’t know that. I haven’t used many alt key commands in general
Yeah, that's a good one. On a Mac, i think it's the Cmd key (as Alt is only on PC laptops).
I find command with left or right arrow to zoom in or out sure takes the frustration out of doing it with the top right of the window slider. Not really a trick but it's a great keyboard shortcut.
Agreed! I also switched to a trackpad exactly for that reason!
You can also do that with "alt + shift + mouse wheel" I think...
He's like a wizard. Thanks Colin!! 🙌🙏💗
Thank you for the valuable information! Great video!
You can also alt-copy-drag selected automation points.
Ooo very cool

@@OrpheusXL THXXX this trick is amazing I was always doing manually the automations on the other regions and it was taking me so long thxxxx man

Hi! Thank you! Is your 'Radio Ready' Workshop still available? The link is broken :) Thank you!
Bro can you do a tutorial on how to make guitar strum in garageband ✊🏽💯
Wow! The Automation trick is very good info.
can you mix a few songs for me on garageband ?
I will use all of these tips in the next hour. Thanks.
Great tips Colin, solo safe was new to me. Very handy.
Thanks, John! Love that feature

A lot of great hidden stuff in Garageband for sure!
Thanks Boss! 👏
Hey you’re welcome, Tommy! Glad it was helpful
'Solo Safe'!!! Like grouping, drum tracks etc =D
I record 1 edrum kit to 7 tracks through 1 input. So you can actually record multiple tracks over 1 input!
Love your videos! Great tips!
Are you talking about audio or midi signals/tracks?
@Fastvoice yes that's midi signals. I programmed each track to another signal from the edrum kit. So snare got its own track, kick own track etc. Only picking up the signal from corresponding input.

These are always super helpful. Thanks my friend.

Your videos have been incredibly helpful! Do you have any plans, or would you concider demonstrating mixing audio tracks for an accustic drum kit?

@@TheBandGuide Thank you. I'll check it out. Do you think an upgrade to Logic Pro would be a better option for a drummer?
I do! I’d say recording live drums is one of the main areas Logic helps with. The ability to group tracks together for editing is invaluable when editing multiple drum tracks. And bussing the drums to one aux channel (using a “summing folder”) can be really helpful for mixing
Love that last trick. Thanks. Great video btw.
Thank you! I was SO happy when I discovered that one
Great tips. I only had two of them in my toolbox. Thanks Colin!
Awesome, Chris!
You the man.
Thanks bro 🤙🏼
Wow, thank you!
Thanks bro
That was helpful, kudos!
Thank you, this is really helpful, great video as always
Hey thank you! Glad it was helpful!
But can you link the faders that would be great
Unfortunately not! Apple keeps that for Logic only
HA! I'll be listening to this many times to make sure I got it all! In fact, like right now
Control Command shift delete to delete all automation from a track. I don't use it all the time, but it sure is the right shortcut when I need it.
Whoa WHAT! I didn’t know about that one. Will definitely be using that
Wow, but that one could be a bad thing if you have a cat.
🤯🤯🤯 thank you.
Idk why but when I upload an audio track to garage band it alters the sound . It takes away the low mids and boosts the highs a bit
This for a Mac. What about on an iPad?
great tips...
You should mention this is for Mac only. None of these work in Garageband for IOS. Or will they work in IOS if I add an external keyboard?
Mind blown! Thank you so much! I was a bit stuck this is opening me up to new horizons 👍🏼🪄
your the best😊
Wow: solo-safe was cool
Great video but as an iPad user You forgot to put MAC in the title.
Please could you save a lot of us GB users a lot of time by making it clear right from the get-go that this channel is Mac only!

Vocals should rarely be pitch-shifted in my opinion.
