this song is like the second National anthem of Russia. I've often seen people standing up in respect once it's sounded.
After holding and fighting off the largest land invasion in history I wouldn't be too surprised either.
It is, i think. I believe its disrespectful to not stand up, and ive heard that it might be customary to stand up when it is preformed in russia.

@@Dianasaurthemelonlord7777 yes, actually in this invasion except 8,668,000 military losses, USSR also suffered approximately 18 million civilians losses under occupation, during bombing of dozens of cities, during Holocaust (Jews and Slavs), from starvation (not only in besieged Leningrad), in the terror actions by SS in Belarus, Ukraine and Russian villages (as the method of fighting against partisans), from the lack of medicine, as almost all doctors were sent to military hospitals, under forced labour (f.e. 4 million people only from the Ukraine were forced to go to Germany as a slave labour power) and so on. Goering (if I'm not mistaken, it was him) f. e. have said: "I don't care about how many thousands Russian women will die during preparing our antitank defence lines on Dnepr river, I care only about if it is complete in time". Actually it should be called the genocide of Soviet people driven by Nazi, but I guess that because of the modern political estate no one would admit that.

Soviet Russia is not USSR, it just a republic of it, like USSR is not Russia there is 15 republics and all of them speak Russian, I am from Azerbaijan ASSR - Azerbaijani Soviet Socialist Republic. In the Soviet times there was no Azerbaijan like now, it was like in Russia - now days :
