    great video!
my tools against depression are: don't isolate! call people.
    take walks
take care of yourself: yoga, meditation, healthy food.
    get help! therapie, reiki etc.
really focus on what is working for you, in this day and age there are so many things to be thankful about. Feel this feeling of thankfulness, it can heal up your life.
Last but not least: love and forgive yourself, and your family. Things might have gone wrong in the past, forgiveness and love will give you a great boost to propell yourself into a bright future. Much love, Namaste

LuigiTheHeadcrab yes it can be very hard from time to time.
But you don't have to have it all figured out by tomorrow. Give yourself some time, some space.

As a rule I never read comments on videos because a lot of the time people are weird perverts, but that doesn't mean I can't just leave a comment, so thank you for sharing this exercise and being a kind and patient instructor. I've been struggling with anxiety and depression for a very long time and am finally reaching out for help. In the meantime, videos like yours are helping me stay afloat. Thank you again, so much!

Caitlin Kennedy Hang in there Caitlin. I've been in the same place for a long time.
I finally realized a few months ago that a large part of my depression was being caused by the toxic people that I allowed into my life. I cut all ties with nasty, negative people. Started eating right, doing yoga with Jen, and looking at the things that are good and getting better in my life. Most importantly...be your own person. And be positive. I wish you all the best.

Rajking01 I understand that and I understand that it's a spiritual practice as well, I'm sorry I called it an exercise, it just involved physical motion so I categorized it as exercise, since this wasn't a yogic meditation video.

Melissa Goodwin you know that's all in your head right? Static stretching is awful for the body. Continue used static stretching causes you to lose the proper tension need to walk, run, jump, throw, kick over time. Makes the body diarrhea basically. But, hey it's your choice. Lol

Today was a really hard day with no explanation. I did everything I knew to do to keep the blues away; I walked, I stayed busy with chores around the house, kept something light-hearted on if I was watching TV and I reached out to those I love who I knew would comfort me. Nothing did it. 40 minutes ago I was still battling my darkness when I gave in and went to this yoga video. I know this video is older but today it became my savior. Sometimes you need to slow down, focus on yourself and your breathing. The stretching reminded me and relieved me of the tension I've been building all day. I'm so thankful. For the first time today, I feel like myself.

This was a great sequence! I think one of the stranger things about depression is when one does not know they are depressed. Mindfulness of the moment helps. Pay attention to what you feel and why you feel a certain way, and then let it go. Do not trouble the mind with situations that are outside of your control. Find something that makes you feel good and stick to it. Get a daily routine, and notice when you stray from your routine how you feel. Excersise has always helped me. Just some random thoughts to share!

At times we get into a loop of emotions or thoughts, even physical habits that lead us into various amounts of stress. One thing that has been working for me (Most of my life and I'm in my mid-thirties) is to participate in something new. Some of the things I've tried include hiking, playing instruments, dancing, taking a college course, joining a writers group, and traveling. When I put my attention on something that increases my knowledge or abilities, I feel better. I noticed that the issue that makes me sad or frustrated may not go away, but as long as I have done all I can to solve that particular issue then the only thing left to do is better myself while the healing takes place. I've gotten pretty good with this technique over the years, and it's brought me through some really hard times. Blessings to you all and may you have peace in your hearts.

This was so nice Jen and made me feel so much better about what I was going through. I am so thankful that you make these videos. My top tips are: talking to someone honestly, fresh air, a good walk, good food, and rest. Plus cake, red wine, and hugs.

This was great. I have health anxiety which has led to chest pains and the constant worry that I am going to stop breathing or have a heart attack or that I have a brain tumour or lung cancer (I am only 22!) and this has relieved the feeling in my chest for now. Thank you very much!

Thanks heap Jen for posting this video. I use to suffer from good sleep due to anxiety and depression since four months. Though I had taste of yoga since from my child hood, never committed regularly. Since week I am practicing every day before going to bed and it helps me to cool down and have sound sleep. Great stretching... Watching this video and doing Yoga with you every day is kind of treat for me every day!!! Thanks again for posting such a wonderful Yoga posses.

I find that yoga works very well for me with uplifting my mood, developing strength and flexibility. It always helps to keep my emotional level positive. When I want a change of pace I do listen to music that makes me feel excellent and I usually dance around like a very unskilled ballerina LOL! But it still helps to uplift my mood. I try never to get depressed. But I do have alittle anxiety sometimes and these methods absolutely work best. Love your video's Jen, thanks for sharing them.

For the first time in my life, these past few weeks I have been severely depressed, followed with random panic attacks. This is the one video I use as my daily remedy, I feel so refreshed and happy afterwards.
For me, staying active is the best thing that helps my depression. Going out and shopping, doing errands, being with friends, hiking, going to the city... As long as my body stays active my mind does as well, and I have less chance of letting negative and depressing thoughts into my life.
Thank you PsycheTruth! You have helped me so much.

Thank you for this video - I'm going to recommend this to a friend who suffers depression daily. I hope this helps. My favourite thing to beat depression is doing yoga and going for long walks in quiet areas like the beach or the park. Talking to someone you trust can also help.

Seens this yoga is going to be my routine indefinitely. Thank You

One of my depression/anxiety relievers is to be productive. The easiest thing I find, when my depression builds up is to make a list of things I'd like to do - every day achievable things such as cleaning the house or doing some paperwork. When I do it, I can tick it off the list and it makes me feel really productive which helps lift my depression.
Another thing for depression and this is really useful for my anxiety as well, is to go for a walk - 1.5-2 hours outside. Never in a gym - that hasn't ever worked for me, but some movement in my body and some fresh air is really great.
Doing these little achievable things makes me feel productive, in control and motivated to do more. I'll certainly be adding this yoga stretch programme to my toolbox and will aim to do it a few times a week as a preventative measure. Thanks again for sharing these with us.
    Heather.

as a veteran for a long time i thought yoga was for just women so i never got into to it just stuck with pumping iron for stress, now that I am older, all the damage i did to my body finally caught up with me yoga really helps me deal with joint and disc pains. Besides exercise and yoga I have a service dog that really helps me stay grounded in crowded areas. Now i am looking into legal Cannabis oil cant hurt right ?More tools for tool box. Also I recommend volunteering it helps both ways. :) hope you guys have good luck in future.

This is an awesome video, very calming and also helps strengthen your back muscles.
You asked for suggestions on other ways to combat depression so here you go:
    1. Write down a list of all your positive traits; Your kind; your smart etc..
    2. Write down all your major accomplishments in life; graduated college, having a child, etc
    3. Write down a time where you went out of your way to help someone in need.
    4. Look at this list every morning before you start your day, keep thinking about these positive traits you have all day long, because you are what you think. :)

Making a big pot of soup with seasonal vegetables is a real mood booster for me. Winter and summer it is so good for you! If you can get some home grown vegetables, cleaning the soil off them is very therapeutic too. Then you can share it with others.

Hey Jen, just wanted to say thanks for all your yoga videos I've been following the past year. They've really improved my issues with depression and made me understand how the mind and body are so synchronised.
Another great way to deal with depression I've found is CBT (Cognitive behavioural therapy). All you have to do is stop and notice/write down your current Thoughts, Feelings, Bodily Sensations and Behaviour. (And do this for the good thoughts as well as bad ones!)

Relief ~ so we can truly start to feel better. Thanks for sharing Jen! ( Love the bears hanging with you too - very blissed out.) "What helps when we feel down?" I find that being with supportive and positive people (who are tranquil and centered), and where there is natural peace and beauty really helps. Soulful music works too! ( I prefer playing my Native American Flute overlooking the water somewhere.) It lifts my spirits and mood. Cheers~
