The benjamina from a cutting has really grown well. Nigel approved root base for sure! 👏Congrats on the successful fusion on the big Daddy benjamina! 🐦💙
I love your talk haha it’s like Im sitting next to you watching you work! I bought a Benjamina and I repotted and decided to defoliate. The next day I read not to defoliate 😂😂😂 I was lucky and the tree grew it’s leaves back. 😅
Hi Candice! This is super helpful as this weekend I’m planning to repot my benjamina forest in training! I must really do something wrong because my trees don’t grow as much as yours! Anyway your benjaminas look gorgeous already, looking forward to see them after some more training!
Most my Tropicals get a true tropical grow season of 9 months so they definitely do grow much more and hen the ones in my living space during winter. Other then that I feed HEAVY applications FREQUENTLY with Biogold. Every 4the week which keeps the nitrogen availability constantly high
@@Candice.BonsaiScience I’ve got biogold last year and was happy… still have to figure out we’ll about the dosages though! Well, in London this year we had exceptional hot weather but I don’t think it’s comparable to your weather for tropical! By the way, where are you in the US?
Excellent you dropped many tips for the benjimina that can only come with experience I have big tuberous roots and one tree is in a deep pot maybe it will have to stay in a deeper pot
It’s not a risk I am willing to take with this tree Percy. My parents died much to soon. This tree is the only thing I have left of my Dad and was a gift when he passed away when I was 19.
I've started a ficus tree from cutting's I add a cutting to the tree when I can I weave it into the tree and overtime the cuttings that I add to the tree fuse to it it's just a crazy tree I started and it's been working each cutting I add becomes a nother part of the tree it's just something different I wanted to try
@@Candice.BonsaiScience Yes I think that is what the tree is, I see a root coming out of the tree about half way up and there are several on the bulb root....thanks
@@Candice.BonsaiScience Daggum, that was a cutting after a year!? Daggum, great flat roots! Well, daggum, I've only propagated Ficus cuttings in water; I am excited to try a sand/soil/APL mix to propagate my Ficus cuttings. Daggum.

Looking at roots ‘what would Nigel do’ 🤣🤣
What a lovely tree your big ficus benjamina has become. The fused trunks are looking adorable. Kind regards from Salzburg 🙏❤
Thank you!
Agree,,, Nigel would definitely be impressed. An awesome radial root system. Thanks, keep growing
Next we chop it down 🤣

Love when luck works in your favor 🤣♥️
I really enjoyed this - especially after hours of catching up on pruning my Larches, Elms and Jades. That sun definitely looks strong :)
It’s definitely go time to get the last work in before we let them be for the fall vascular growth spurt!
Awesome Benjamin's Candice😊

I like it straight. Great potential for the future.
Nice video really enjoyed it
Thanks Mary! The Big Ben will get some work in July!
Beautiful Ficus, I have a similar one from cutting 😍
Growing them from cuttings works so well!
Thank you very much..
No; thank YOU for being here!
Really nice rootbase for a Benjamina!
Best base on a Benjamina that I own for sure! It was an airlayer so I’ve been really focused on keeping good root structure in this one
Great video darling. Thanks! Looking forward to follow you👍😉
Thank you ♥️
Sold one yesterday at farmers market great tree for bonsai
Never thought of bringing them to the farmers market! That’s a great idea!

Have you thought about an air layer at the mid section you “grafted” together?
I have been tossing the idea around actually the last few months in my head. And thinking I might try!
Excellent you dropped many tips for the benjimina that can only come with experience I have big tuberous roots and one tree is in a deep pot maybe it will have to stay in a deeper pot
Depends- some can be shortened and spliced.
Why not try and ground layer the tree at root level then you have a tree you can plant into a normal bonsai pot?

That sounds so cool! I’d love to see it!
I have had no luck trying to root some cuttings off my ficus.
What type of ficus Mike?
@@Candice.BonsaiScience Not sure, it does have one of those bulb type roots Candice. It came from Lowes last year.

APL = akadama + pumice + lava
