Roman Harper is a first class guy. Great representative of the team and the state.
I'm an old Alabama fan who grew up in the Bear era, win or lose I will always support the Tide and our coach. It will take time for the adjustments to be made, but true fans will be patient, its the arm chair coaches who think they know it all that will be critics.
How will the bama fans deal with a 6-6 season?

What's amazing is that Bryant's last Bama team wasn't really that good, so Perkins was given a down team. Perkins was "okay", but he wasn't the guy. Dumbose wasn't "okay" and he wasn't the guy. Deboer is coming to Bama in a situation like Frank Thomas replacing Wallace Wade or Stallings replacing Curry.
I give the guy all the credit in the world for even taken the job after all you're chasing the greatest and it's not going to be an easy Chase

Patience is the one thing that Alabama fans do not have Nick Saban himself has been quoted to saying that if he had ever lost three games in one season he thought his fan base would consider him a failure, and they were going absolutely crazy last year when they lost two games, let this guy lose to Tennessee or LSU or Auburn in consecutive seasons and he'll be gone, this guy has the most pressure on him of any coach in college football, and people keep talking about what he's done at washington, he didn't build that team up from anything, he inherited those players and brought Michael Penix with him.. this man is never been able to recruit anything higher than a four-star player, so you can't say he's a good recruiter which is essential to be an SEC coach, I just don't know how this is going to work for Alabama, there's been a lot of coaches that have had success and other conferences come to the SEC and just can't get it done
You didn't live through Bear so you can expect Alabama fans to expect too much. Fans like me and you need to keep a check on the ones who didn't go through this before.

It's so funny because I met Roman Harper at a Falcons-Saints game back in 2006. Roman was injured, no playing, but was in a suite right next to me at the Ga Dome, but I didn't know it. I noticed a few ladies wearing Harper's Saints jerseys. I asked them if they knew him and they just pointed and I was floored. Shook his hand and said "Roll Tide" We talked for a few minutes about how disappointed we were with the direction and hoped they'd get a great coach. About a month later they got Saban.

The DeBoer detractors don't give this guy enough props. This guy was the AP Coach of the Year, 3-0 vs Lanning, 2-0 vs Sark, and has won everywhere at every level he has coached. He will bring several great players with him through the portal, has a great offensive scheme that will feature a Heisman caliber qb in Milroe, and if he can hire Coach T-Rob at DC-will have the defense solid. If he can talk Bond and Wiliiams into staying-even better. Amazing hire!
I am a Life long Alabama fan I feel this was a great hire I'm very very happy this guy is going to take Alabama where they want to go. I’ve been in a lot of sites being a lifelong Bama fan and most think this is a great hire! I myself agree with them and will support him. Coach Saban will give him advice on recruiting and NIL. We’ll see but he’s a winner!
Great hire!! I don’t understand why AU fans are laughing about this hire. Tide will continue owning them…lol…. DeBoer was 3-0 vs Lanning and 2-0 vs Sark in the last 2 years. Plus, DeBoer is inheriting a great roster, unlike the roster Saban inherited after Shula’s 4 year tenure.
I support him. You will have to give him the time he needs. It may take him a few years just don't treat him like they did Perkins.

Nick's 1st Bama team was stacked. They were just young. Some of those same guys from that team will be NFL hall of fame members. Check the roster.
@CompOstang50 the Bama in 07 compared to the Bama team now, along with the program that's already built/developed, is vastly different! Bama fans should not expect a 7 - 6 team!! I get your point, but it's a completely different scenario, and the dude is starting out with riches compared to what Saban started out with. He's taking over players/ programs from what's considered the greatest coach in college football. In fairness the 07 team probably had a lot better mentality though because nil and the transfer portal have ruined college kids' minds. So you can take a three-star athlete and turn them into a Heisman Trophy winner like Mark Ingram. Unless something changes with nil and the transfer portal I won't be watching college much longer anyway.

😂😂😂 Yeah, I had a bad feeling when I heard about that place in Florida. Plus, just the change in his demeanor in the last three years. It seemed like he turned into a hard nosed father to a grandfather right before our eyes. Which wasn't a bad thing. My dad did it, as many do. Great show guys‼️

Washington's center is a redshirt freshman. He is a little small, 6'2" and only 275lbs. If he can add another 10 to 15lbs he would be a great player to bring along.

@@thomasstanley9505 Jalen had to make a play saving play on a third or more of the snaps just by catching the ball when it was hiked. It's amazing they didn't have more than three or four disastrous over the head type snaps, or any turnovers due to them.

Nick Saban would have a hard time doing better than 10-2 with next year's schedule.
I hope fans understand that and don't freak out when they lose a couple of games.
10-2 would be fine next season against that schedule because it would get them in the 12 team playoff.

I have concerns about his lack of experience recruiting in the south, but times have changed. Recruiting is a nationwide thing now. Saban didn't get Tua, Bryce, Ingram, Fitzpatrick, etc from the South. In the Bear Bryant era 90% of your recruits came from within 300 miles of campus. Not anymore.
Saban had very little experience recruiting in the south before he came to LSU
Thats why it's important to keep Saban close and hire excellent recruiters...especially with your position coaches. The network is there...if he uses it then Bama is going to be fine

Nobody watches NAIA and the media/endorsement oblogations are significantly lower and it comes down to the coach himself and the team he built to achieve success at that level so that said we know DeBoer carries a loyal staff that saban liked because saban did try to get Grubb but Grubb was loyal to DeBoer so i feel this was not only a great hire but multiple other hires in the days to come
Exactly great hire and Saban approved I am sure. The fact that Saban is staying around to guide and teach him the ropes of the SEC and RECRUITING !!!! I think Bama going to be fine. Next year's schedule is brutal though. I hope not but I see Bama losing 2 games.

As an Alabama Native that lived where the new coach came from for a while, I suggest they study southern culture on how to interact with locals. The weather and culture are totally different. We welcome them and hope that they will do what it takes to be successful and create a teamwork atmosphere.

Really curious why Bond jumped in the portal. You're going to risk starting over anywhere so why not just try the coach at the program you're already familiar with. Transfer portal just teaches young people to jump ship as soon as there's any adversity. There's no loyalty and the old school way of enduring
Probably needed to get enrolled at a new school quickly. He's committed to Texas. If he had waited I think he would have been happy with the new offense at Alabama. UW had three 1000 yard receivers. I'll be surprised if DeBoer doesn't get a couple of good WRs via the portal.
