Sony TC-FX150 Cassette Deck Repair - Part 2 - Motors getting fixed

Fixing the motor in the tape deck that sat for 20 years on a shelf. Maybe this is one of the reasons it got put away.

Can you explain what you were doing at the end with 1 khz test tone? Were you using a test tape? Do you just connect line out to the voltmeter?

The tape has a 1khz sine wave recorded to it. The motors speed needed adjusted. That meter also reads frequency. So if the motor runs slow the output frequency will be lower than 1khz. Had to adjust it until the meter read 1

Should have used light machine OIL on the bearngs, not GREASE!
