@@bryanwells4063 ZJK was actually the one who made me love table tennis. He revolutionized the game by making it became a strong physical game at near the table. WCQ's style with strong backhand and strong close table game really reminded me of ZJK. ZJK and ML are the two most complete players I've seen in the game. ML usually control the pace of the rally against any players he played, but ZJK was one a few players I know that can control against ML. But ML's strength in his prime was his speed and consistency which allowed him to beat ZJK. I think both prime ZJK and prime ML are capable of beating each other. It looks like Fan is injured or not at his best form. He barely used his forehead in the last set. He didn't move as fast either. Looking forward to Xiao Pang's return ❤
In the last set it looked like he didn't want to play wcq head-on any more and tried doing funky shots. He tried to chop block a few times also which didn't work.
The last set was decided already, Fan was obviously tired of playing Wang and didn't want to go through the struggle of a comeback since it wasn't worth it in his mind. He was already beatne mentally, and Wang was outplaying him the rest of the match. I think Fan just needs to pay better attention to the opponent, rather than just pounding the ball as hard as he can. Power simply doesnt work against Wang apparently, I think dropping the power 1-2% and focusing more on placement, like Wang does all the time, if the key to Fan beating Wang Chuqin. Heres to hoping Fan can dominate outside of China well enough to maintain 1st, but I have a feeling it won't be enough. A crushing defeat for me since I love Fan's game.
@@bryanwells4063 hard to switch your playstyle at this age, especially against a player as quick and strong like Wang. You can not just freely determine where to put the ball when Wang just flick the ball with lightning speed. Even being able to hit the ball back on the table is already hard enough. As I see Wang doens't have the good placement all the time (not that perfect), he is just simply too quick and the opponent just cannot react in time. There are many matches where the speed of Wang is just too high and even himself cannot completely control the placement, leading to many unforced errors. Even Malong the most experienced player in this game still cannot follow Wang speed and lost most of the time.
The game is getting faster and faster! Need robotic reflexes. The current trend is getting dangerous and prone to injury. Only few pros can reach this level.
I knew WCQ would win after this point: 1:00 FZD sends out 3 rocket shots beautifully placed and WCQ is fully out of position every time, but yet returns such high quality topspins and gets the point. Nothing fzd can do.
I disagree with that point being crucial, Fan literally blocked the last shot which gave Wang time to move in and put it away. But, that point does show Fans weakness, which is simply control, or placement. Yes, Fan can hit crazy shots that shoot off the side of the table. But when it comes to shot selection, it is sort of random, without intention in my mind. Wang has the power, spin, and consistancy, but in the game, he was also dialed in on Fans location and constanty caught Fan out of position, pinning his elbow, and forcing Fan to become passive with unconfortable shots. This is the same mental strength the carried Ma Long all these years, I want to see Fan develope this sort of mental focus and smart game, but at this point Fan is pure power power power, which apparently doesn''t work against Wang when he is as focused as this.
Wang's technique is more efficient than Fan, Fan relies on a lot of strength and even skill. Wang doesn't give up the table and drop as low as fan so he can keep the pace on the ball without big swings. His posture is always forward whereas fan tends to to be upright. This is aslo the reason why the lebrun brothers have risen so quickly they really hog the table. Lin Yun Yu uses this to great effect as well.
This is so true. My personal view is this style change is a direct response to plastic ball. While mercilessly effective, it greatly limits the space and time necessary for more creativity in this sport. The speed, accuracy, and consistency are amazing. But it is not good for reaching a broader audience. It's heading to a situation where two opponents keep pulling ruthless punches short distance on each other and see who will fall.
I disagree, I think Wang has a much longer stroke, at least on forehand, and he actually gives up more space from the table to improve control and placement, and to give him a fraction longer to react and really spin the ball a lot. Fan is all about staying super close and countering EVERYTHING. He is all about power, doesn't think about placement as much. Rushing the table, ruthlessly pounding the ball. Wang is all about spin, his larger stroke doesnt have the same crack as Fan, and his stands a bit further, but his focus on spin allows him to also think about placement, which he used to incredibly good effect in this match, alwasy catching Fan out of position. I do agree with your point about Fan dipping and standing very upright though, Fans footwork seems to be lacking a bit in that aspect. He doesnt think as much, simply reacts and moves according to how the opponent responds. The the problem with staying so close to the table.
Olympic Final 2024 will be between these two My % for olympic champion Fan Zhendong: 51% Wang Chuqin 42% Lin Yun-Ju 4% Felix Lebrun 2% Ovtcharov+Moregardh+Harimoto+Calderano = 1% So why do I pitch FZD over WCQ? He's the federation's favorite.
Harimoto is stronger than Lebrun, if he plays fast tennis, Lebrun will not be able to keep up, and about Moregard is even funny, you don't even need to give him 1%
I agree that Harimoto is better than Lebrun. But they'll play in France. They have opposite tempers, Harimoto was overwhelmed in Tokyo for singles, I think Félix will play better than usual with a home crowd.
It's important to keep in mind how the Chinese view teamwork. When the Chinese flag is seen by the world, it is clear that the Chinese team is the dominant force in the WTT. The nation's sense of patriotism is greater than one individual. China today is a reflection of that.

I suspect he knew he was not in form to complete against Wang. He has been lethargic all tournament. Strategies wouldn't do him any good if he couldn't physically execute them.
Wang Chuqin contacts the ball during his own serve forward of the back line. This is a clear violation of ITTF rule 2.6.4. I don't see how this helps him, but it is illegal. The big question is why the officials don't call out this blatant violation.
Fan hasn't recovered from a Flu yet. He was really annoyed by Wang's hiding service in some key points, that's why he lost his interest in the last set. Although Wang played very well and advanced skills, but his service (not all) was criticized by many players.
Fan looks more fat and slower than he was 5 years ago. He does not look motivated for this kind of tournament any more, keeping his energy for the biggest events. Interesting to see how vocal he was in Duran against the same opponent, and how quiet he was today. He still has good chances for the OG

They sit beside the table, not face to the players. 2. The serve time is very short, the ball touching paddle moment is even shorter, it's really hard for the umpire to judge. That's why many people ask for IRS during the match. I dare say illegal because I watched the match closely and found his hiding serve photos . His teammates will never appeal if you know the CNT culture.
I think Fan's fatal mistake the first three games was simply focus. I don't know what was the problem, but his placement and read on the opponent was lacking, which I think has alwasy been a problem for him. He wants to hit the bal hard first, and thinks about position after. Wang was completely locked in on Fans location on every bounce of the ball, and caught Fan out of position over and over again. Fan is my favorite player ever, even over Ma Long, I just think his game is so complete and his form is extremely impressive, but unfortunately it looks like Wang Chuqin is going to become the reining champion pretty darn soon. Wang has the power, and more natural form and stroke, with the Ma Long forehand that we all know and love, and the killer backhand that might lack the power of Fan but can bring on the heat when necessary and is just monsterously good with placement and consistancy. I love Fan, but I think he is running into Harimotos problem of his backhand being stronger than his forehand, forcing him to become passive when the ball comes to his middle. The game is getting faster and faster, I think the key to the new game is find ways to slow down the oppnent. Fan used to do it with flat out power, but Wang does it with placement, and we can apparently see which is superior from this match. I believe Fan can come back and learn from this, but within the next couple years, I think Fan will unfortunately become stuck back in second place, which is honestly one of the most tragic things I can think of.
I think FZD will beat WCQ in the next one. He just needs to be tactically better. Skillwise, even in this match, he was better than WCQ. His backhand was spot on. He was just caught off guard a little too often while if you notice it with WCQ, he remained on the backhand side of the table more often than not while FZD tried to be at the center of the table which backfired for him in this match. Otherwise, he put up a valiant fight. It just wasn't his day.

Prime Ma Long was more aggressive with stronger mid range game. Wang Chuqin is a stronger in near the table. I think Wang Chuqin's style is more similar to prime Zhang Jike than Ma Long.
@@pham1020 I never had the pleasure of really studying and understand Zhang Jikes game but from what Ive seen your probably right. But also, from what I've heard, Zhang Jike had a "golden peak" where his power, form and consistancy literally could beat anyone. Didn't last long though obviously but I've heard prime Zhang Jike would beat prime Ma Long.
@@bryanwells4063 ZJK was actually the one who made me love table tennis. He revolutionized the game by making it became a strong physical game at near the table. He had one of the best backhand I've ever seen and his forehand counter near the table was probably even better ML's. Not as much as ML did, but he dominated from 2011 to 2014. But ML has better longevity and consistent which is why he won more title and has better heat to head.
@@pham1020 Where does FZD rank in your opinion?
Sem dúvida o melhor do mundo 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Happy someone is not making me miss Xu xin so much.. WCQ is the next big thing...
Wang chuqin encuentro que aún está muy lejos de llegar al nivel de Xu Xin. A mi en lo personal no me termina de convencer. No me da gusto verlo.
unreal level of both players..
FZD: 6544, WCQ: 5145 and closing in!
Silly bandana nerfed FZD
If the bandana is in light Blue color, that will be better.
Flawless Victory 🤚🏾🙌🏾😮😮 wang is a beast
Wang Chuqin offensive game is on another level right now
It looks like Fan is injured or not at his best form. He barely used his forehead in the last set. He didn't move as fast either. Looking forward to Xiao Pang's return ❤
He was beaten mentally
Fan just got a cold and fever 39c about ten days ago, and still not totally recovered.
Yeah! I played the video at 0.75 speed and I could follow moves, techniques, but at normal speed..just forget it..😮
I knew WCQ would win after this point: 1:00 FZD sends out 3 rocket shots beautifully placed and WCQ is fully out of position every time, but yet returns such high quality topspins and gets the point.
Мощно, в одну калитку. 👏👏👏
Wang play like zhang jike great backhand and flip
Interesting, I’ll look out for that in matches, maybe that will also help my game, hog the table and never give it up.
Nice. 👍🏽
@@satinwoodterindeed you don't see too many rallies with wang it's usually big kill shots
Olympic Final 2024 will be between these two
My % for olympic champion
Fan Zhendong: 51%
Wang Chuqin 42%
Lin Yun-Ju 4%
Felix Lebrun 2%
Ovtcharov+Moregardh+Harimoto+Calderano = 1%
So why do I pitch FZD over WCQ? He's the federation's favorite.
Harimoto is stronger than Lebrun, if he plays fast tennis, Lebrun will not be able to keep up, and about Moregard is even funny, you don't even need to give him 1%
@dariogutierrez6716 I don't think Felix Lebrun gets better chance than Harimoto, just not as experienced. Maybe Harimoto may get a 3%
I agree that Harimoto is better than Lebrun. But they'll play in France. They have opposite tempers, Harimoto was overwhelmed in Tokyo for singles, I think Félix will play better than usual with a home crowd.
Brawo Wang zrobiłeś to postawiłeś kropkę nad i 👏💪👊🏓
I like Fan’s bandanna
The cursed bandana that every Fan supporters hate out of superstition 😅
Intresting that Wang Chuqin serve over the table all the time, but never get called for it.
Where is the beauty and spirit of TT with this bunch of turbo backhand strikes? Xu Xin, where are you??
YYYYYEEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHH COME ONNNN WCQ IS # 1
Wang's on fire...
It's important to keep in mind how the Chinese view teamwork. When the Chinese flag is seen by the world, it is clear that the Chinese team is the dominant force in the WTT. The nation's sense of patriotism is greater than one individual. China today is a reflection of that.
Wang’s rally skills were so strong they forced errors from Fan.
07:12
But why the side view. I dont get it
99% of Wang Chuqin serves should be fouled. I have noticed countless times that when he serves the racket and the ball contact point is inside the table...why is ITTF not seeing this, prove me wrong if you think I am @ITTF
Absolutely stunning, imagine beating a player as skillful as FZD in 4-0... He's probably already surpassed the prime Malong or at least very close
Wang is real number one
Космический уровень игры. Ванек отлично отыграл этот турнир и в финале показал супер настрой и заряженность на победу.
When was the last time FZD lost 0-4 ?
2015 against Ma Long
Ferist time I see fen zhendong giving up 😢
7:12 a crazy trick shot like this, and we don't get a slow-mo? Worse, the slow-mo is edited out, with just a milli-sec left to enrage us. You see it starting - and cut! on to the next point. WTT : masters of frustration. Horrendous camera angle, and never no replays. Again, we're grateful for those highlights, but you gotta ask yourselves : do you really want to promote the sport?! Everbody's supposed to watch the entire 40-min match to enjoy the slow-mo's? Take some inspiration from other sports, for chrissake!
Ванек красавчег😂
Wang used to be a one tool player relying on forehand topspin. Now he is becoming an ultimate tt weapon.
he was a war machine from before. his backhand is atomic. super spinny powerful fast accurate and effortless as well.
Rarely see fan lose like this
New olympic champion???
Wang destroyed the two legend Maa long and Zhendong with the same score...
Fzd never called timeout in this match.
He should call it in the third game. In the fourth it was too late
I suspect he knew he was not in form to complete against Wang. He has been lethargic all tournament. Strategies wouldn't do him any good if he couldn't physically execute them.
@@luisanthonychau good point. 4:1 isn’t much different from 4:0.
Wang Chuqin contacts the ball during his own serve forward of the back line. This is a clear violation of ITTF rule 2.6.4. I don't see how this helps him, but it is illegal. The big question is why the officials don't call out this blatant violation.
why is fan not interested in the 4th set . he played like he was just there for a formality and do some warmup rally till match is finished 😅
That's the last set I believe
@@mindrover777 yes
They are team mate in doubles and Fan is tired but when in good shape he will beat WCQ
Fan hasn't recovered from a Flu yet. He was really annoyed by Wang's hiding service in some key points, that's why he lost his interest in the last set. Although Wang played very well and advanced skills, but his service (not all) was criticized by many players.
@@shirleynew3233 oh is it !! thanks for clarity

Monsters.
Fact: why do all the comments spoil the result of every wtt match, it really annoying.
they are not celeberating the point because they are a pair in duo dont care who wins because both are the goats of table tennis
does anybody know why FZD didn't play this match?
They had his children hostage
Because he was not allowed by WCQ. It's as easy as that...
It's a final match. Hence the result

Fan looks more fat and slower than he was 5 years ago. He does not look motivated for this kind of tournament any more, keeping his energy for the biggest events. Interesting to see how vocal he was in Duran against the same opponent, and how quiet he was today. He still has good chances for the OG
Fan Fan is my favourite, always. He got injured in his left knee for more than a year, and has not recovered from a bad cold last week. If you watched the match closely, you can find Wang,s illegal service in some key points. It's unfair to Fan and other players. This can nearly destroyed Fan,s conference, That's why people found Fan nearly gave up in the last game. Of course I agree Wang played very well, but if he didn't use hiding service, it will be much different.
@@shirleynew3233 pls stop complaining about WCQ's service, if it's illegal, we have the official umpires there, they need to have your respect. I was wondering if this kind of complain was coming from the prejudice and enmity towards CNT players, because the CNT always being watched and face more pressure. But now it's the game between Fan and Wang, you still complain about it, how dare you said "unfair" "illegal"? Fan is stong enough, he has the respect from the team and the people, noboby will destory him with "illegal" method, especially his teammate. Pls just don't do that, just keep the basic repect to the players.
@@inncogong9139 sorry make your unhappy, but I just tell want I found. Wang 's serve was criticized by many people including table tennis players. The complaints are not all from prejudices or enmity. I don't know if you has played or are playing Table Tennis, but the truth is the umpires can't find all illegal serves, especially hiding. The reasons 1. I say that is not because Wang won, Fan was beaten by Malong for many times but Fan's supports never complained Ma's skill otherwise respect Ma. I agree Wang played very well and has advanced skill, but one interesting thing his serve winning rates is >60% to top players, 90% to DanQiu, and Malong last time, unbeatable!
We all believe Fairness and Justice are the foundation of all competitive sports.
Fzd seems to be agreed before the match with wcq giving him ranking points 😂
Both players played great, but unfortunately, Fan Zhendong, my favorite player, did not perform well in the final points and gave up the game in the hope that Fan Zhendong will win Star Contender Qatar and continue to win the upcoming tournaments before the Olympics and The Olympics gold medal and its immortalization alongside the champions who have won all 3 world tournaments, the Olympics and the World cup .
Not every day is a good day. Right, he lost to his teammate. Show gratitude to the teammate for taking his place. That's what teamwork is all about. China's dominance in the WTT, is due to that.
The camera angle is so awkward. Did they know that or they are still proud of their artistic taste?
Wang been left handed plays a lot here..
Speed, speed, speed...fast, fast, faster
