Natalie Portman's "please open the door" scene is a master class in conveying multiple emotions.
Natalie Portman is a master class in conveying.
Realizing that I saw this movie in the cinema and seeing how old natalie Portman is now makes me feel really old
Still entertaining! I'm elderly and certain movies are timeless! Enjoy my friend!
Well she doesn't looks much older.
I think it was a year or two ago that Macaulay Culkin tweeted something like "I just turned 40. Feel old yet?"
Congratulations on the marriage Mary
Something you should know. The actor who played Benny was actually a professional firefighter who died in the September 11th attacks while trying to rescue people in one of the World Trade Center buildings. RIP Keith A. Glascoe
Congratulations on something that the majority of the human spieces does? it's like when new moms post on social media that they had a kid. So the fuck what? 99% of the population has done this unamazing feat since our first steps.
Congratulations as well, a big life change 🙌
This movie was made by Luc Besson , like him or hate him, his work is always unique ^^ I don't remember if you watched the 5th element, but I would recommand it, it might be his most famous (and weird 😋 ) movie, with Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich and Gary Oldman (the bad guy in Leon). It's a classic 😉
I have also suggested Nikita, where the Jean Reno character really came from.
@@gordon861 Nikita is great! But she has to make sure to pick the original from 1990 and not that remakes...
Pretty sure she has seen the Fifth Element. Might be why she thought the music sounded familiar since it was the same composer.
If I'm not mistaken, he's also in the film as the guy with the gun going "give me the cashhhhh"
Leon and Kiss of the dragon are my favorite Besson`s movies.
30:53 "My god, how many people does he need?!" - Mary will soon find out he needs EEEEVERRRRY ONE!!!
An all round classic film. And I never tire of rewatching it. So glad you enjoyed it Mary, and congratulations on your marriage! 😃🎉
I love this movie so much, and this was Natalie Portman's first movie. The first time I saw this I knew nothing about it, but I had seen Jean Reno in other movies, so I watched it for him. I was instantly blown away by Natalie Portman, and the movie in general. A few years later she was in Star Wars: Episode 1, and it was all history from there.
You are so correct Mary. Movies like this and The Princess Bride are unique in the way they were done, and can never be replicated.
B.t.w. Congrats on the nuptials, and the channel growth! Best wishes.
I watched this film for the first time just a few months ago! I love this channel, especially when films I haven't seen appear - it's like a recommendation engine for what I should watch next, and then I get to see your reaction afterwards haha
Jean Reno is quite remarkable actor. Some films you might consider putting polls (if you plan to do more European films especially)
La Femme Nikita (1990)
Les Visiteurs / the Visitors (1993)
Ronin (1998)
Les Rivières pourpres / The Crimson Rivers (2000)
7:40 and we're watching a reaction of someone's experience watching a movie, where a character is watching a movie 🤣
Congratulations on the wedding.
This film is from Luc Besson, Leon is based on a character from one of his earlier movies 'Nikita', which is another great film. I first saw Nikita in the cinema by accident, liked the look of the poster and it turned out to be a French film with English subtitles, but that didn't matter. It is worth watching, there is an English dubbed version, but I assume you could probably react to the original language version and just leave the subtitles on (not sure how the RUclips copyright checker would react to that).
Gary Oldman (Stansfield) is also in another Luc Besson film which you will enjoy, The Fifth Element.
Definitely watch it in French. The English dubbing just doesn't work. One of my favorites.
No, this is the original version, and it's in English. besides Jean Réno who's French, all main actors are American, or at least from English speaking countries.
The French version is actually dubbed. Jean Reno did his own French dubbing. Even the extended director's cut shown in this video has never been dubbed.
I've been a massive fan of this movie since it came out. Jean Reno and Natalie Portman are both great in those roles. I kinda wish they would make a sequel where Natalie Portman does become a cleaner and Jean Reno plays Leon again in her mind.
This was Natalie Portman's first movie. She was 12 at the time. Even from the start she was amazing.
For the scene of her getting drinking at the restaurant, in the US it is ok for underage people to drink if a parent gives it to them in some states. Still not common but legally speaking it would be alright. I'm not sure if it is/was legal in New York at the time. Obviously not real alcohol in filming.
I saw (years ago) that a sequel was in the works. But it never happened.
Some like to think of Mathilda and Catalia from Colombiana as the same girl, part of the same story. Catalia’s parents get killed, she moves to New York, becomes Mathilda in hiding with the foster family, gets trained from Leon, grows up to become Catalia the assassin in Colombiana.
@@BDogg2023 well, the company who got the right to the movie/sequel gave it to those who made Colombiana and that movie is an adaptation of the original script of the sequel.
@@autohmae I had not heard there was that direct of a connection. Makes even more sense.
@@autohmae Very interesting. Thanks!
I absolutely hate when people don’t understand this movie and claim that it promotes the p thing. I mean speaking about projection lol
Glad you understood it.
the music was composed by Eric Serra... and absurdly talented composer who's worked with Luc Besson almost exclusively. amazing scores and flavor!
Truly a gem. I think this is the first role I saw Gary Oldman in, and it's still my favorite.
Eric Serra does the music for (I think) all of Luc Besson's movies. I can also highly recommend _La Femme Nikita;_ it has a similar vibe (and even features an alternate version of Leon!).
Congratulations and best wishes for your marriage.
Makes me cry. Every time. And I keep coming back for more.
"... like you feel at peace. ... Woh! I'm so not at peace!"
Dunno if anybody ever caught it, but Bill Clinton was President when this film was made: the jogger with all the security that Portman shoots with the paintball, is supposed to be him!
🤣
Danny Aiello plays a hilarious hitman that's down on his luck, in a great-but-unknown film called "Two Days In The Valley".
A young Natalie Portman was in another great film, called "Heat": both are definitely worth watching.
One of my favs, it was so much fun watching it with you. Thanks for sharing!
Your reaction to this classic was great. Just a suggestion for future reactions. You should tell everyone to join your Patreon. And I mean EVERYYYONE!!! 😂
Everyone?
@@clutchpedalreturnsprg7710 EVERYONE!!!
Congrats for the wedding. All the happiness in the world !
Congratulations on your wedding, I wish you a very happy marriage for the future, Mary.
A great reaction, it's a good film, but of course because she didn't listen Leon, and her actions ultimately got him killed, but that's what he was trying to teach her, revenge isn't the answer, it's like the Confucius saying, 'Before beginning on a path of revenge, dig two graves' as this is often the outcome.
One of my favourite films. I would highly recommend The BIg Blue, also directed by Luc Besson and stars Jean Reno. For another Reno film, I think you'd enjoy 'Ronin'.
Another hitman-with-a-twist movie I would definitely recommend is Grosse Point Blank, also mid-90s. Great characters by a loaded cast and with dark comedic elements - special mention for Joan Cusack 🙂
Oh yes, that's a fun one!
If you don’t mind reading subtitles (or speak Dutch), The Memory of a Killer is a great Belgian hitman film.
Natalie Portman should have gotten an Oscar for the hallway scene in the beginning alone. Where she's at Léon's door.
And I'm glad you understand the nature of Léon and Mathilda's relationship.
A lot of other reactors seem to be hugely uncomfortable with it.
Anyway, recommendation time:
Léon and The Fifth Element (1997) are Luc Besson's best films.
Earlier stuff is good (Nikita - 1990 / The Big Blue - 1988) but you won't get many views with those.
And after 2000, Besson became more of a producer.
His comeback film (Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets - 2017) wasn't great.
You should put The Fifth Element in a poll. It's sci-fi. Good sci-fi.
That 'pleading at the door' and then the light when the door opens is my favourite scene too. You really feel the desperation in her acting.
Totally agree about Luc Besson's earlier work, I love The Big Blue. I also enjoy Angel-A (2005).
It's a shame that Nikita probably won't get many views, it's so worth seeing.
I actually disagree about Valerian.
It's not like SUPER great, but it IS kinda great.
Wasn't "The Transporter" by Luc Besson too?
@@nirfz No, The Transporter was directed by Yuen Kwai and Louis Leterrier.
Besson produced it and wrote the story.
The light hitting Natalie Portperson's face when Leon opens the door and her look of grief mixed with relief is incredibly well done :)
Mary: "How many people does he need!?"
Me: "EVVVERYYYOONNNEE!!"
🤣😂😂😂🤣😂
Natalie Portperson is top shelf comedy right there...
@@generichuman_ Absolutely, but the comment contains the word “her”, so it still may get cancelled.
Her dealing with the bullies reminded me of my son when we moved from the inner city to a suburb. When the bullies tried to push him around, he beat one of them up in the hallway, after he warned the bully what was going to happen. He told the vice principal what happened straight up and asked the bully, "Are you as bad as it gets around here?" Never had a problem after that.
"Now she looks like 11". Well yes, there's a reason for that - Natalie Portman was 12/13 years old when she made this. Certainly not passing as "18" 😁
Two other movies you might like - "The City of Lost Children" and "Fanny and Alexander" (I recomend the full version of the latter although it's perhaps a bit long do do a reaction to unless you broke it into multiple parts?)
"Watching a movie of someone watching a movie..."
That's kind of what I'm doing too!
The green and yellow capsules Norman Stansfield takes is Librium, a sedative and hypnotic medication of the benzodiazepine class; it is used to treat anxiety, insomnia and withdrawal symptoms from alcohol and/or drug abuse, Amy Winehouse was taking it to help with her Alcoholic addiction it was the only proscribed drug in her system when she died RIP. Peace out.
"Leon: The Professional" and the also excellent
"Road to Perdition"(2002)come from a tradition assassin kids that can be traced back to the samurai movie:
"Shogun Assassin," (1980) which came from the 6 Japanese films:
"Baby cart Assassin" series of films from the 1970s,
which was an adaption of the magnificent 8,6oo page Graphic novel epic
"Lone Wolf and Cub."
I feel really, really sorry for the first bully of that school who's trying to mess with Mathilda.
... she went to Leon's school, before.
Recently, I saw some people (quite a few, actually) hated on this movie because they thought Leon and Matilda’s relationship was “icky”, and had “pedo undertone”. But to be honest, the word “pedophile” never crossed my mind, maybe because I was only 13 ,14 yo when I first watched this movie, and I just thought Leon was the most baddest ass character ever. I guess I can see why some people say that? But I strongly disagree.
"Oh my god, how many people does he need?!"
Every one of us: OOOH, OOOH, WE KNOW THE ANSWER! :D
Congratulations Mary. All the best to both of you.
I didn't realize Mathilda was carrying "memories" from her family and Leon in the form of the bunny and the potted plant. Nice observation. Also I love this movie as well. Only saw it for the first time a little over a month ago and I was blown away. It's probably my favorite movie of all time because I love the lone wolf and cub trope and this is the best execution of it I've seen.
I've noticed others get the impression Leon's being conned out of his money but I think Tony can be trusted imo, its because Leon couldn't read or write and he is keeping it for him, but Leon doesn't really have a reason to spend his money on anything, he's been in his bubble for years, until Mathilda came along and made him realise what he's been missing.
This is the Directors Cut, but both versions are great, this has some slightly strange scenes, made more so when you google the director Luc Besson. But it's still one of my all time favourite films, original, awesome acting, Natalie Portman did an amazing job especially for her age.
I never felt that Tony was conning Leon out of his money. The money safely kept for him. It is apparent that Tony was pretty frugal even with his own money. Mathilda was going to have her education paid for and never want for anything. Tony would make sure of this if for nothing else than a sense of loyalty to Leon.
this is my most favourite movie ever! there was talk about a movie follow up called 'Matilda' staring Nathalie Portman, infact they shot a scene or 2... they are on the internet if you search for them, but Luc Besson didnt want to be involved so Ms Portman pulled out.
A lot of people (including me) get the wrong idea about Tony at first. He kept Leon's money for him, like he said, and he'll look after the money for Matilda. He also gave Matilda some tough love at the end - the stern talking to that she needed, about reality.
I think Tony and Leon's relationship was intended to show the theme of honour and loyalty among criminals. Leon is the last person Tony would ever want to screw over or piss off because of his line of work and how good he was at it. Tony probably was looking out for Leon in his own way.
I disagree, it's heavily implied that he doesn't want to give Leon's money to either of them and it never shows or even hints that he has any intention to give it to Matilda, only that he'll keep it "for her". He obviously cared about Leon, after working together for possibly a couple decades Tony might see Leon like a nephew but when it came to the money he was conniving, and IMO just taking advantage of Leon's simple nature.
You figuring out what “EVERYONE” means, was hilarious.
The actor of Leon is French and has been in many French and English movies alike. He's a very talented actor and I keep forgetting Gary Oldman is the main bad guy here oops. Any way very violent movie but I like it none the less. Luc's movies are usualy violent like this and I think this was my first movie of his that I saw...that or the Fith Element not sure. He also directs the original movie of Nikita which was very violent and all in French and also the inspiration for the tv shows as well.
Congratulations on your marriage Mary🎉💙!! Natalie Portman kills this role and Leon's character is amazing... love this movie!!
Congrats Mary, may there be many glorious happy years ahead for you and yours! 🥂❤️ 😊
Natalie Portman was only around eleven years old when she acted in this film. She has such great talent.
The 'Awkward Hitman' trope was very popular at the time this came out. A few others I'd recommend are "Grosse Pointe Blank" (1997) and "Coldblooded" (1995) for a bit more dark comedy take on the subject, and "The Point Of No Return" (1993) and "Angel's Dance" (1999) for somewhat more dramatic takes.
Hey Mary, this is such an exceptional movie, yet it is a bit unnerving to see the libidinous tension between the main characters. This film is a unique one and a top favorite of mine. I'm glad that you enjoyed it.
More classic films for you are: 1) "Horse Feathers" (1932); 2) "His Girl Friday'' (1940); 3) "Tenth Avenue Angel" (1948); 4) "Caged" (1950); 5) "Rashomon" (1950) and 6) "From Here to Eternity" (1953). 📽❤️
Seconding His Girl Friday. Fantastic quick dialogue driven acting with stars Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell. (The later tricked her mother to let her enter the American Academy of Dramatic Art in New York by saying she intended to teach acting.) Thank the movie gods for gullible parents!
Congratulations on getting married! All the best wishes! And keep doing your reactions, they are always fun to watch.
Congratulations Mary. All the best to you. Men seem to have more of an issue with their relationship than women do these days, which is fascinating to me. Personally, I think it’s 100% clear that Leon’s intentions are pure, even though Mathilda’s emotions are, well, a bit grownup for her age. This belongs to a very short list of superbly nuanced juvenile performances that also includes Christina Ricci in The Addams Family, particularly the second one, Kirsten Dunst in Interview With The Vampire and Tatum O’Neil in the criminally overlooked masterpiece Paper Moon. I recommend the first 2 mostly for those performances, but I recommend Paper Moon for much more than that, like this film.
Brilliant comment. I’ve loved this film since I was a teenage girl and can completely empathise with where Mathilda is coming from. Leon’s love and intentions were pure.
There's also Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver, which Leon borrows from.
One of my favorite movies of all time. It’s great to see someone else watch it for the first time.
heard that Natalie Portman's parents insisted that she got proper fire arms training before filming
That great big dude who you called "Mega Man" ("Benny") was played by Keith A. Glascoe. In addition to being an actor and member of the New York Jets practice squad, he was a New York City firefighter. He passed away in the line of duty during the attack on New York City on September 11th, 2001.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_A._Glascoe
30:51 "How many people does he need...?" My guess would be... EVERYONE!! :)
The idea for this movie, came from the first luc Besson movie, La Femme Nikita, a very great movie! There was also an American version, tho not as good. Most luc Besson movies are very good! Like 5th element, first 2 transporters, and others.
Congratulations, Mary! I loved this movie from when I first saw it in the cinema and it immediately made me a life long fan of Nathalie Portman, what a debut.
And if you love this movie I am pretty sure you will also like the director Luc Besson previous movie La Femme Nikita (1990), which introduced Jean Reno (Leon) as a hitman. I hope you will react to that one too even though it is not in English.
The role of Tony is written great. Everyone - including me - expects he is cheating on Leon with his money. Yet we have no proof he isn't really just keeping the money for him. And taking into account, that Leon is portrayed in a way we can assume he's not really good with such stuff (not saying he is stupid, but he has his quirks), it could very well be that Toni is just keeping it for him, without ill intentions.
Congrats, Mary! I think Leon is watching "Singing in the Rain" a very good classic movie with lots of singing and dancing.
One of my absolute favourite films. So classy, with an amazing cast and soundtrack, too.
Oh, and the EVERYONEEEE!!!!! clip is gold!
For a much happier look into the very 1990’s world of professional assassins and high school reunions, highly recommend “Grosse Pointe Blank.” Really good sound track……
Ty for doing the extended version, so much better. Great reaction.
CONGRATULATIONS for you two, Mary!
Congrats on the marriage!!!!!! i have following you for quite a while and you are amazing
Gary Oldman plays the charming but scary role perfectly in many of his roles. One of my favorites is The Firm 1988. It is quite dated now perhaps but you can see him dancing playfully with the duality of charming and scary even this early on in his career.
Gary Oldman's American debut in State of Grace as a drug addicted, charming but exceedingly evil member of the the Irish Mob in Boston is beyond brilliant. The final shootout in an Irish bar is one of the best gun fights ever filmed
@@Raving Oooh tnx. I don`t know if I have seen that one, but his depiction as a druggy and rock star in Sid and Nancy makes me think he could do a drug addict real good. So I am looking forward to check out State of Grace
@@Raving Just watched it and OMG what a movie. He was there with so many heavy hitters at such a young age and not only hold his own but nearly stole the show imo. I mean you are there with Ed Harris, Sean Penn and John C. Reilly and keep your cool that is an instant star in my book. OFC he has done bigger roles but god damn. Tnx for that recommendation man. I was born in 87 but I really like to dive into old golden gems like this one. Than you
@@HaienTwitch glad you enjoyed it. That is a movie I often recommend and no one has been disappointed.
Haha. We’re watching a “movie” of someone watching a movie of someone watching a movie.
Movies with Married Mary? ;)
This was made by French director Luc Besson. In 1990, he made a movie called Nikita (AKA La Femme Nikita) about a woman who is convicted of a murder, but rather than being executed, the government fakes her death and forces her to become an undercover agent. When one mission goes wrong, they send in a cleaner named Victor to take care of things. That cleaner was played by Jean Reno, who played Leon in this movie. However, his character in Nikita was MUCH more violent and willing to kill just about anyone who looked at him wrong.
8:11 "Megaman" (or known in this movie as Benny) is portrayed by Keith A. Glascoe, a real life New York City firefighter who died at the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001.
Props to the editor for adding The Dark Knight soundtrack to Stansfield's Walkman at 6:03 lol. Referencing Gary Oldman's other famous police role.
Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness. Congratulations on your wedding!
00:31:16 "How many man do you need? -- EVERYONE!!! -- Ok, okay." Hahaha
Congratulations, MARY. Another great movie starring Jean Reno, GODZILLA (1998 film), also starring Mathew Broderick. Great human story in addition to the terrorizing monster.
oh god no! that one is horrible 😝 better go with ronin, the crimson rivers or le grand bleu
@@stefanforrer2573 +1 for Ronin (1998) by John Frankenheimer.
Yeah, I don't know if I would call that movie great. They don't even acknowledge it's existence in Godzilla lore.
It's a good movie. Maybe not a good "Godzilla movie" (which MANY aren't), but a good movie nonetheless.
@@prollins6443 i mean, it's a roland emmerich movie..... that should tell you enough 😅
The music is by Eric Serra, who also did the music for The Fifth Element, which is why it might sound familiar to you.
Van harte gefeliciteerd met jullie huwelijk!
Sooo glad you liked it... & I also really recommend Black Swan with Natalie Portman, The Big Blue / Hector and the Search for Happiness / Cold Blood with Jean Reno & of course another must watch classic by the director Luc Besson is the 5th Element!
Now you need to see _La Femme Nikita_ also by Luc Besson. Matilda is basically a little Nikita. Besson has a type.
NP's mother had a precondition that NP would be trained by preofessionls to handle all the guns she uses in the movie. Smart long-term investment. 🙂
Can we please make her watch Pan's Labyrinth? Please?
I remember a botanist commenting Matilda killed the fern at the end as the plant not being able to survive
Congratulations! May you have many many years of happiness together!
Natalie Portman was 13 when she made this movie. A couple years later she made a more obscure, but amazing movie called Beautiful Girls. She was just as unique at 15. Another obscure movie was Garden State where she out-classed the entire cast.
Really fantastic unique movie. Luc Besson is on another level. I highly recommand you "La Femme Nikita" by the same director. Very emotional as well about a female hitman.
Congratulations!! May you have many, many years of happiness.
It’s an „interesting“ theme: the young girl and the older man. Luc Besson has a bit of an odd history with his taste in younger ladies and recently has faced a series of rape allegations.
Gary Oldman was amazing in this movie. He rocked the villain role. Natalie was amazing!!!!!! Jean Reno is class act. Love this movie. Great reaction Mary.
30:34 That snort 😂 I love this channel!
I‘m not sure if you watched the theatrical version or the director’s cut. The director’s cut is almost half an hour longer, and features mostly more of the relationship between Leon and Matilda.
Many other reactors feel VERY akward about those scenes…
If this wasn’t the director’s cut you should watch it sometime, and maybe you’ll get a totally different movie experience out of it.
She did watch the director's cut. A lot of scenes in this reaction are exclusive to the DC.
It's mostly non-Europeans who feel awkward about those scenes between Leon and Mathilda, and I've always found it odd... to me it's quite clear that Mathilda is just infatuated with Leon (because he's a non-asshole male who doesn't bully her like her dad) and maybe doesn't differentiate between platonic and romantic love. Leon clearly sticks to his boundaries too, which is why it's so odd to see so many (especially American) reaction channels be so extremely awkward about their bond.
@@stobe187 From a detached and narrative perspective, this is all true... But on the flip side, (Director) Luc Besson's relationship history just feeds back into it and colours it in a way that is definitely less wholesome and more troubling.
It means you go from "OK, that's really uncomfortable, but I see what it's going for" right back around to "OK, that's REALLY uncomfortable" again.
This was the directors cut. In the the theatrical we don't see her joining him on a job.
@@stobe187 I won't even repeat some of the vitriol I got for arguing for this film, from (likely) devout christian bible thumpers incapable of thinking for themselves.
I completely agree. Portman's character has a crush. Nothing unusual about that at all, particularly when you factor in the family dynamics and home situation , typical elements of kids wanting to grow up or be adults faster. Leon does indeed maintain his boundaries even if there is a suggestion of Mathilde trying to suggest anything else. I think this is a brilliant film, and it remains one of my favourites.
Another great movie featuring a young actor is Paper Moon from 1973. It's a road comedy starring Ryan and Tatum O'Neal as a father and daughter pair of scammers on the road in U.S. Midwest during the Great Depression. Tatum O'Neal won an Oscar for her performance in it. She was only ten years old at the time. Peter Bogdanovich directed film with László Kovács in charge of cinematography. The film holds up well. Check it out when you can.
Love the way you fall into dutch when you really dislike a situation! "Neee!!!" XD
29:25 Just earlier today I was thinking about how fun it is to watch kids playing in the park, seeing them having fun and reminding me of when I was a kid. But as a guy I can't do that these days.
Dude you got married well done and congrats to you both.
The big blue ( le grand blue ) is another great movie , Besson ,Reno Roxana Arquette et jean mark Barr
Leon was so the expert in the concept of Operation (Gotcha Last).
if you research this film you will find that the original french version actually had the matilda as an advisor, and that its based on a true story.
Also Natalie Portman actually did the impression of Marilyn durring her audition. That was what sold her to the director.
I watched this movie a great many years ago. And even till this day, it is still my all-time favourite hitman movie ever made. I would love nothing more than to see a sequel to days where Natalie Portman comes back, and she is the cleaner . Leon could be her call sign, you could even title the movie. Leon no women no kids.
This was such a great movie. Now that Natalie Portman is older I would love to see a sequel with her as the new Professional great reaction. Oh and CONGRATULATIONS 🎊 on your marriage
Have you've seen Seven Samurai? It's a Japanese movie about villagers harassed by bandits. They decided to hire samurais. However samurais only follow their lords. The villagers then tried ronins. Ronins are trained but do not have a lord. The movie was remade in the US as The Magnificent Seven. Mexican villagers are also harassed by bandits. They decided to hire American gunfighters.
Can you believe that the villain here was played by the same actor who was Commissioner Gordon in Nolan's Batman trilogy?
Congratulations to you both. I hope you keep doing what you want to do to make you happy RUclips or anything else. I appreciate your time and all the hard work it must take to put out the content you create.
POWERFUL acting! Natalie is UNREAL!
1990s Gary Oldman was the most terrifying man on the planet.
Gary Oldman was the lead detective in this. You might want to look at his resume. He's been in a ton of movies and is just a great actor. One of the best, in my opinion. You've probably already reacted to some of his movies and not realized it because he just blends in.
One of the most underrrated movies of all-time!
