Think about all those "Americans" who represent uncommitted. What happened to our country??
America has always had issues with voter turnout, regularly fluctuating between 50-60% of eligible voters, so nothing has happened to America in that regard. If you're referring to people not actively picking a side, most people don't engage with politics the way you think they do, and don't necessarily feel either side represents them, or their beliefs, or frankly recognize that little typically changes between different administrations other than the letter beside the presidents name, and facade they put forth. The times we see record voters turnout is typically when there is something actually at stake, as seen in the last two elections, and certainly this upcoming one. Pretty straightforward stuff, really.
