  • US Vice President Kamala Harris has been mocked online over her latest "word salad" response after being asked during a campaign event about her plan to lower the cost of living.
Vice President Harris participated in a live-streamed event called "Unite for America" in Michigan, a key battleground state, on Thursday hosted by Oprah Winfrey.
During the event, Harris responded to a question from a couple about how she would lower the cost of living if elected president.
"In terms of both rightly having the right to have aspirations and dreams and ambitions for your family and working hard and finding that the American Dream is, for this generation & so many recently, far more elusive than it's been, and we need to deal with that," she said.
"And there are a number of ways. One is bringing down the cost of everyday necessities, including groceries."
Harris's response was slammed by critics on social media as her latest "word salad".
"Kamala word salad alert," one user wrote on X.
"She's rhetorically challenged," another user wrote.
The event was hosted by Oprah and featured a star-studded virtual line-up, including Jennifer Lopez, Chris Rock, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Ben Stiller, and Bryan Cranston.
Some of the celebrities made appearances and spoke before Harris took the stage.
The event is part of Harris's Democratic presidential campaign efforts to rally support ahead of the election.
