    Im trying to like and comment on all your videos because they're important. And this is another great one. You're filling a major gap in the mandolin education curriculum currently available on RUclips. Every video is _that_ video. The one i was trying to find on another teacher's channel but couldn't. Thanks for your unique ability to survey the landscape and identify what is needed and produce it in a straightforward way with zero fluff and zero idle chatter.

      David thank you so much for all your likes and comments! And especially this one, it makes me feel really good to know that not only are you connecting, but you feel like videos are covering topics not found elsewhere, or at least some new ways of looking at things. I plan to keep on going with it, love sharing the music and joy that comes with it. Cheers! And you are so welcome!! Really appreciate what you wrote.

    This is probably the best mandolin lesson channel by far and I just can’t figure out why you haven’t blown up on here. I remember spending days with your Pocahontas vid working it out. Great stuff, man.

    very helpful for beginners who need a rock solid foundation to build on instead of faking their way through it with rock riffs tossed in - sorta like peanut butter on a pizza. Nothing wrong with playing the damn melody.

    Glad to hear you are adding the beginner style approach, although I’m working with your Mountain Girls lesson right now and as a beginner I’m not having any trouble following along.

    Hi Christoper - I know you like folds to join Patreon and I wondered why not have folk join your channel as well. Its just an idea you may have investigated already.

      I would love for folks to join the YT channel. I always mention that at the end of the video, but maybe would be better to mention it earlier 🙂

    Will this method work for us guitar nerds?

    • @ChrisHenryVideos
      @ChrisHenryVideos  Месяц назад

      I would highly recommend it! You might even be able to use a lot of these notes and rhythms for guitar.

    Thanks, great video! And I'm not even playing mandolin (but guitar). Can I ask: at around 3 minutes you're saying "don't write any of this down!" So are you saying not to transcribe on paper, but instead just to hear and memorize that way? Thanks and greetings from Germany :)

      Hi Martin! You are exactly right. This video is for by ear training. So, yes, going through each section of each tune slowly, phrase by phrase, slowing it down where needed to work out the more difficult passages and internalizing it all without writing it down to strengthen the ear. Cheers! 😀🎶

    Dude , you're as bad as me ... scalped fingerboard and still digging in far enough to click on it... lol ...
    When I was younger I didn't have that problem..when I got older , I got louder, digging in more a d more .... had to scalp the fretboard extension... but still hitting it .. I'm just about ready to take a Japanese saw to it and make it disappear .😅

    • @ChrisHenryVideos

      I feel ya! After playing without the extension for 30 years, there is a lot of muscle memory there! 🎶😀

  • @mandolin8297
    @mandolin8297 2 месяца назад +1

    What's the clicking noise I'm hearing?

    • @ChrisHenryVideos
      @ChrisHenryVideos  2 месяца назад +3

      that would probably be my fingerboard extension - my previous main mandolin did not have the Florida part, so unless I'm really conscientious about it, I get some clicking. When I used to listen to Monroe play sometimes, and other pickers, I would often hear that clicking, and think - I wish I could click a little bit. Now that I can click, I often forget to not click, so thanks for the reminder!
