29:29 OMG takes me baaack!! This was my childhood, i loved that disc - Winter Releases 99. Except mine didn't have as much games or content on the disc
Thanks for preserving the original .vb files of these (even though they're in low quality). I didn't know that some of the tracks are originally somehow off-pitch then finetuned later.
I imagine it's been done for compression reasons to save space on the discs, the VB files also contain loop points where the tracks loop and also each of the individual sound effects used on the menus when choosing a game. I had to resample and cut the sound effects out for everything to sound correct.
Thanks for the upload! :) I didn't know they were VB files, always thought they were XA video tracks. The VB (bank of VAG's) format is CD audio quality, it's compressed by it being sped up and played back slower, i just finished a PS1 game and it was the same trick I did to squeeze a few minutes (5 IIRC) of audio samples into 500k audio RAM, most likely that's why it's compressed so much, to fit into audio RAM and have free access to the CD drive, to play the video, i guess it's easier to create the loops. You can extract the CD-DA raw PCM file by using vag-depack by bitmaster, and in audacity change the speed down by -57%. The playstation has a tool (VAB tool) to play these back on a keyboard, it sounds like it's played back at a bit higher then C# (note 61) Edit: in the raw PCM audio, it sounds like you can hear them stopping the tape master, I guess back in 1995/6 it was still tape :D
I love you for this. I'll leave a little poem/musing of mine for the trouble: To be a kid again. The greatest tragedy of man. You can't wait to be an adult, and when it comes? To be a kid again, you yearn. Not to have any responsibilities, to be careless once more. How much would you give for one such day? To say we have to savour it, is an understatement. But also, is it even necessary? Not like we can control it, the dangling fruit of nostalgia, tempts everyone. Atleast those who look back fondly. To be frank, i don't know how would it be if my childhood wasn't so careless? Maybe i would not be so tempted? But maybe would i be more bitter? I had one childhood, so i will not know.
21:21 Love at First Hearing :D 07:52 was the one that came with my PS1 :D i save money for Looong time to buy it with GT1 :D first console i buy and owned, second i saved for was big Ps2 :)
Basically grew up with 26:13, I think I can say it was my first encounter with electronic music at a very young age (about 5 years old) and I thought it sounded very cool already back then

Lot of these tracks remind me of the WipEout games
I assume 10:42 is German demo, I've never heard any of the other demo themes other then Demo One version 5, Registered user demo 2 which also plays on old demos until 45, "1999-2000 - 6", and 7. ;w;
Hello mate, did you remember a VideoClip from a musical band witch was a bit creepy, i remember it was rock or electronic music and in the video it was like a family in their home (like a blue lab) and they had no eyes-mouth-or stuff
No idea, but it could be an Euro Demo (France) Projection Privée. One of them had a video of "Make Me Bad" by Korn. In the UK and the rest of Europe, there was a video for Leftfield's "Afrika Shox."
These demo disc menus are so trippy, I love them :o
0:00 My childhood has begun
After my first time with the PS1, the next day, I had a blister in the shape of the down button on the d-pad. Oh yeah!
Music really reflected the UK underground edm scene at the time.
Trance, rave, jungke and DnB. Its all there

Soo many memories come flooding back hearing some of these of much better and simpler times....
