    You made reinstalling the clip look so easy. The new clip that comes with a new set of break pads isa lot more difficult than you might think. Otherwise, your video made me almost feel like I’ve been doing this for years. Thank you so much and keep it up! JT

    I have always done my front brakes on the wj. I have always thought the rear was too difficult or I needed a special tool. Probably because it looks different because of the clip. So I have always paid a shop to do it. Your video have me the confidence to do the job!

    Great video I will be doing my brakes today. Wouldn’t it be better to start the car before pumping the brake pedal to build pressure, or else wouldn’t you just be building up vacuum pressure?

  • @Robert-sy2cy
    @Robert-sy2cy 4 года назад +3

    Would have been a good time to rebuild or replace the caliper. The piston in this type caliper can later stick in the caliper bore after simply pushing the dirty piston back into the bore. The piston will move out when applying the brake but not retract causing the job to be redone on a later date and possibly having to replace a warped rotor.

    Is there a rubber part that can be removed and replaced with a new one where the slide bolt goes in? And is this one where only Sil Glyde or similar lube can be used to grease the slide bolt,otherwise with regular green brake grease the rubber will swell and the sliders stick and cause hot brakes?

    Anyone know what size Allen socket to remove caliper?

    • @bradstucky4621
      @bradstucky4621 3 года назад

      Popping off the 2 rubber caps reveals 2 pins which the caliper rides on. I believe the video mentions a T45 Torx bit, and that is what I used to remove mine, however, after struggling a bit to remove the Torx bit from the pin, I decided to check the size again and found out that mine are a 7mm Allen (hex) wrench size.

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  5 лет назад +4

      +Ashley Bellerose Thanks for watching! Brake rotors have a coating put on them from the factory that helps prevent them from rusting before they are sold to the customer. You will have to use brake cleaner to remove this coating, which is necessary to properly marry the brake pad material to the rotors! 1aauto.com
